It's not just Nintendo, it's video games in general. There are just *SO MANY* franchises and IPs represented in this one game, whether they be playable, assists, collectible trophies, or even just songs in the soundtrack. It's absolutely bonkers.

The gaps in the mural were not in the one shown at E3. Characters have also been moved around. I am thinking as more and more characters are added to the game, the mural will just get bigger as each character is added to it.

yeah when you compare the new artwork after isabelle's announcement to the original e3 artwork, characters have been noticeably shuffled around.

trevormcdermal It's a pretty big surprise, tbh I thought even Konami forgot about him...lets see...two actual games, an appearance in a racing game and a few other Konami games including as an item in one of the Ganbare Goemon games for the SNES. There is a bit of debate though on whether or not Kid Dracula is a really super deformed kid Alucard or a new incarnation of Dracula 10,000 years from the future since CV Judgment brought in the Time Reaper and Galamoth still being alive in that time and trying to take over..given CV Judgment and Kid Dracula themselves are not canon to the CV story line as outlined by IGA I don't know.

trevormcdermal I may have goofed and got him confused with his old man who I do remember being in the racing game since it's been so long since I actually seen the little guy but according to a wiki I found: he was in his own game series, an item was shaped like his head in Ganbare Goemon for SNES and Gameboy, he was in Wai Wai World in the games Wai Wai Poker, Bingo and Jockey, and he was playable in the SNES and PS/Saturn ports of Parodius.

I loved everything about the production of this direct, and it felt really gratifying to hear that feeling properly explained in words, and then broken down and analyzed. A lot of the other reaction videos are all about the loud hype and the content itself, which is good too, but the very steady discussion of the direct from a meta/behind-the-scenes perspective was really refreshing.

For Sure i would pay over 100 dollar for this game. this game is sakurais legacy and a big celebration, not of the other genres out there, just for the SMASH-SERIES itself!

When people groan about Nintendo getting into movies given the history of video game movies or even ties ins outside the rare few exceptions, if they did a feature that was nothing but the team that makes these reveal trailers but have a interconnected story, it’d be a comedy joy, Luigi Mansion could be the Disney/Nintendo version of Ghostbusters and nearly all these characters barely speak and yet are still so effective.

Paul Moore Blue sky atleast made a few good movies (Ice age, robots and the new peanuts looks nice). Illumination consistently make cheap bad stuff. The first despicable me is the only one they have made that was even slightly good.

I'm glad to finally hear some post discussion about it! Most vids just react then end, but its really cool to hear both sides. One who wasn't a huge fan and another who follows it. Awesome video guys!!!

Chrom is actually an Echo of Roy, but he does mimic Ike's up special. Wonder if other Echo Fighters will do stuff like that?

SSBU is worth the price and then some, so much Nostalgia and love is going into this game. Awesomeness babe, yeah! Alucard was in Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse (NES), Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (NGBA) and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (NDS). Alucard was also in some Nintendo TV shows and Special Comerials.

Alucard was in Castlevania 3 before SOTN, also Dawn and Aria of Sorrow after.

Kyle: "We get to see Luigi's dead body there. It just brings you joy" Poor Luigi, Kyle is not a fan of him it seems :(

Nintendo has a real fetish for brutally murdering their lead characters. At this rate, Wario will be disembowled in the next reveal.

Yeah. Think about it, Rathalos is a boss, similar to raquaza and bosses from subspace, and that stage looks pretty similar to stages from subspace.

the pixelated icon looked like the Subspace icon to be honest, but if not something this big hiding could ether be a far more built up version of Smash Run, or a custom making stage that dwarfs the previous two in sheer creativity, and to be honest, i'm ok with ether of the three. Please just not let it be another Smash Tour.

couple things I noticed with K. Rools' final smash: 1) Isn't that K. Rool's island from the 64 game? 2) The island from the 64 game looks like it was pull right out of the game, adding to the theme of 'If its a 64 era title, make it look the part.' 3) When D.K. Island blows up it goes all black and red (and blue). The whole island becomes silhouetted and the color scheme matches up with a hand full of D.K. levels with the same esthetic themes (Donkey Kong silhouetted on top of a high contrast background with only his signature red tie showing.) 4) It may be one of the most balls to the walls super move I've see in a game like this. 5) idk, I'm now on a hype train that I did even realize I bought a ticket for.

I don't think those trailer cinematics are just trailers. Those are cutscenes.

I definitely agree with Maximilian Dood's assessment of Smash. For context, it's during a stream highlight vid when he was comparing different fighting games to various foods. When he got to Smash, he compared it to an all you can eat buffet where they have a little bit of everything.

OOOOH I figured out the ??? shadow on Dracula's Castle stage..IT'S KID DRACULA!! It's Alucard as a kid when he looked up to his dad, there were like two spin off games for Kid Dracula waaay back in the day and outside of a Konami racing game he hasn't been seen since.

Who else is rewatching this in preperation for tomorrows Smash Direct

I wanna see Brandon randomly get really good at Smash and go to Evo next year!

The smash games are always, ALWAYS packed to the brim with stuff. Not only that, but the smash games are almost always a much higher quality than most other games. The fact that Nintendo, or anyone, can make games like this over and over again is impressive. It’s one of the few games that are legit worth more than $60 just for the content and quality. Assuming this game has the same quality as Breath of the Wild, for example, I wouldn’t mind paying a lot for this. If they add a story mode to this, it’s easily worth the price of 2 games.

Theory with no way to back it up: censored mode is for emulating past smash titles. It's prolly won't happen but that would be awesome.
