No IMU? Come on Triumph. You should at least offer the improved safety as an option.

Why would one of these bikes need an IMU? That would be best for something with cornering abs and wheelie control. Maybe for the thruxton

@@NicePantsLance A dog can run out in front of any motorcycle in a corner. Road surface adhesion varies widely. Cornering ABS can save any rider on any bike that has it. As for wheelie control, it is a similar situation. It can save anybody. I inadvertently wheeled my 19 year old 650 twin just yesterday (just wanted to charge hard, but a little bump in the road added some unexpected spice). Rode it out OK, but an electronic overwatch would have been better. And I want traction control also. I started riding in 1966 and over the years I have seen quite a number of "one in a million" edge case situations. I cannot react 25 time a second. I love the looks of the Triumph Street Twin, but for about the same price we have the new Ducati Monster 950, the KTM 890 Duke R, and the Yamaha MT09 SP, all with the full IMU safety suite.

@@lewiswithrow1936 oh don't get me wrong, I totally agree that an IMU is a great safety feature. I just think it would increase the cost too much to be worth it for bikes like these. All of those bikes you mentioned are naked sports bikes, that make well over 100hp and weigh under 400lbs. Even on my tuned Speed Twin I think regular traction control and abs are more than enough. Maybe they could make it an accessory or something! Not gonna lie, I dig the look of that new Monster. Cheers 🤘

@@NicePantsLance I'm glad we agree that having an IMU is a great safety feature. I realized that it was probably a bean counter issue, that is why I originally suggested that it be an option. I'm also glad you feel you have more than enough electronic angels on your bike. Choices and options are wonderful, however. I love that bikes are dangerous, but I also love that technology whittles away at the dangerous parts that aren't fun. I'm old enough to remember when disk brakes were considered extravagant and only necessary for the top spec bikes that were expected to be ridden very hard. I suspect that the full IMU safety suite will become a must have just as disk brakes and anti-lock brakes have. And people will wonder then as I do now "Why would you not have it?"

@@lewiswithrow1936 hopefully when the technology gets a little cheaper and more non-sport bikes start including them, I could definitely see myself with a cornering ABS equipped model. There's alot of dirt and gravel where I live, and I've been caught in some slippery mid-corner situations. Ride safe out there 🤘
As a 70 year old now, I've never forgotten the sound of a Bonneville being gunned up the road by a local lad who'd bought one in 1960. I was 9 years old at the time and my brother and my cousin were riding a Matchless 350 and an Ariel Leader respectively and this was, as they said, the first super bike of the era. Truly unforgettable.
That '59 at the beginning is so much better looking than the current models.
12 liters tank for the Bobber ! Finally !
@visordown

a claimed 33% more range thanks to it - the old tank was a bit of a thimble!
Tubeless wire wheels yet? At least maybe for the T120 models would be nice.
Fantastic... well done Triumph
Loving that Speedmaster!!
Was really hoping for tubeless wheels. Loved owning a Thruxton R but being stranded with a flat was too frequent and too painful. Scrambler 1200 or Speed Twin then
You can see that the engineers priority was function over fashion e.g. the fenders rap around 1/4 of the wheel to keep off the debris off the engine, there is also a rack on the fuel tank, the seat looks like it is thicker with more foam, and it came with a center stand.
Legendary bikes!!
I want at least one, if not two, of these babies!!
So nice to watch a video without people wearing masks. Thanks fellas.
Great video! Just to be clear, there’s going to be no bobber black anymore?
Can you self delete 🔧 icon and use 12H instead of 24H ⏰?
Triumph what about adjustable foot control positions for the speedmaster
The vintage bike looks better than any of the new ones.
And the speed twin...?
pinstriping!
14:14 Black Adder ;)
The music is definitely a wrong choice.
Are they made in England?
Just BS for first 6 minutes then they spend 30seconds on each bike.....

Need tubeless spoke wheels that's the only thing missing in triumph classic
where is speed twin
Just now I read about the issues and the way Triumph is dealing with them... I was considering buying a T120... And after a couple of hours of research, I will wait for an opportunity for a BMW R69S... So disappointed by the British... Gearboxes, Rotors, Electrics... Riders that use to ride Bonnies for decades and have a couple of them are so disappointed that just left the Brand... And honestly, I don't believe you can trust Triumph.... Triumph was Triumph a long time ago.... 🙄
Why haven’t you taken the rocket engine and made a coast to coast touring bike yet??!!!!!!!
@georgeperkins4171

They did. The r3 touring. I had one but "downgraded" to a 13 t100. If you mean with the 2500cc it probably why they stopped making the old on, not enough interest

@@georgeperkins4171 no, I mean like a Harley Ultraglide or Indian Roadmaster. If they made something like that, they sure didn’t sell it in the US.
i love that, the original British motorcycle.........(a company started by German immigrants).
Nothing interesting.... but thanks for the video... your guys had actually more to talk than the company representative...ha ha..
Strange, I didn't see anything about how ALL Triumphs are now proudly made in Thailand? Or is that something that Triumph isn't proud to advertise?

If for a company to survive it has to move production abroad, is that not better then it shutting up shop altogether?
@dave6467

@@visordown Of course businesses need to survive. But do you really think that's Triumph's motive? I think it's more about generating profits for shareholders. Yes, that too is important, of course. I wouldn't have a problem with all this if it wasn't for Triumph constantly banging the drum about 'authentic Britishness' and charging a premium for it, even though the bikes are made in the Far-East.

Bobber- why bother? To my mind not in the spirit of the original Bonnie.

You should really ride one. They are very good bikes. And anyway, why does it have to be in the spirit of the Bonnie? didn't the rocks of the 50s and 60s modify the hell out of their 650Ts and T100s? I'm pretty sure they did!

They should rebrand these bikes as Thai-umph. None of these bikes are now built in Britain. Triumph is moving all production to Thailand. Stop trying to deceive us Triumph in pretending these are British bikes. I bought a new street triple only to discover it was assembled in Thailand. If I had known this beforehand I would not have bought it. To put union jacks on these Bonevilles adds insult to injury. I will not be buying another new Triumph.
