    I own a 2018 and it is a good bike. This is my third Triumph and I would say the best one that I own was the Thunderbird. I travel over 100 miles per day which means stopping for fuel everyday. The range is around 150 miles but the low fuel light is on at 130 miles. I have gone 170 miles on a tank but that was not because I wanted to. I can say I have never owned a bike that I ride with the low fuel light on more then this one. I have 12,500 miles on her and she runs great. Needs tires and brakes but other than that I have just done oil changes every 5,000 miles. I have taken a few weekend camping trips and she handles a full load very well. I am old at 63 but this bike does everything I ask but you do need to watch your fuel.

    Thinking about getting a speedmaster, did a few test rides and I’m very happy with it although it came across a lot of videos from the U.K. about gearbox issues, seems like it’s like playing Russian roulette and that is why I haven’t bought it yet. It would be reassuring to know if Triumph had fixed the issue with the new models if there was an issue in the first place or just unlucky bikes. Many thanks.

    I've got a 2018. Buy the DNK tune once it's past the warranty and it will knock the 77 HP up to 100 and will do wonders for the snatchy throttle response driving around town. It's a very comfortable and quick bike that, imho, looks better than anything on two wheels that I've seen here in North Carolina.

  • @ever-eddy8541

    @ever-eddy8541

    Doug, we all understand the meaning of assembled but too many companies now play on ‘British, all American etc, but at the end of the day those bikes are not British, the TFC are to some degree as they are assembled in the UK, Harley assembles/manufactures in the states and as such are American made, but the std Trumpy is not British any more, don’t get me wrong I still love Triumphs and are at present searching for my next Triumph purchase. But companies have to stop this playing on nostalgic inaccuracies, i.e. “........British Engine”. A word missing, between British and Engine, ‘Designed’. Too many products are made over seas and not in the country of the companies origin, i.e. Triumph, thus in a way misleading the public. There’s nowt wrong with producing products overseas but to stop manufacturing in its homeland full stop and ship ALL MAIN PRODUCTION Overseas should never have occurred, I would have loved to have a Triumph assembled in the UK and paid a little extra for that privilege. Yes I’m a Brit living overseas and have had 4 Triumphs, 2 x Meridans (1 still in procession of) and 2 x Hinckley’s, an 07 America cruiser and a 2012 1700 Thunderbird Storm abs. Not enough of the Made in The UK occurs now, and it should, if Germany and the Italians can make quality Motorcycles in their relevant countries why Not Triumph! Questions that only Hinckley CEO can Answer.

Put the controls back to mid, push the handle bars further forward to give the rider a leveraged ride position, take off those stupid beach bars. It’s not a Harley and will never be so stop trying to make it one. Let it be what it is, a classic design in its own right.

    Do you own one? Have you ridden one? Have you seen one in real life? Boring bike - not on your life. Rides beautifully, looks fabulous (obviously totally subjective thing) - witness the number of heads that turn when you ride by, or roll up at a bike meet. Hugely versatile to have it looking how you want, with a huge range of add-ons to suit the style you prefer - costs a bit, but hey! Old man bike? What are you comparing it to - almost every bike of this style could be described as an old man bike, if you are comparing it to a super naked sport bike.... It lifts its skirts and pulls like a train if you want it to, or you can burble along and enjoy the ride, glide around corners on the open road. You are never getting your knee down, but this bike isn't designed for that - but it will stand its ground with any bike in this class.
