Thank you,.... This buffoon's comment of... "It may not be as Iconic as a Harley Davidson" nearly put my 34" monitor existence in jeopardy,... In biking circles, we have a convenient description for people that display that kind of disrespect,... It begins with a 'T',... ends in a 'T' and has a WA in the middle. At the time this icon of design, style and performance came out,... HD Engineers were just figuring out how to make their bikes go around corners quickly without fear of imminent death. ** Don't get me wrong,... HD's are wonderful,.... If I could afford to buy one and insure it,... I'd be riding one already,... But damn,... We even named it after the Salt Flats in recognition of the importance of America in the automotive and motorcycle achievements ,.,..... Rant over.

@TTS17 - the Token Square Hello, I've not done rides that long. I frequently commute 50/60 miles each way to work and it's fine for that. Without a fairing, the wind at 70mph can be tiresome and if you ride in the dark you will need to buy upgraded lights. The headlight is terrible. Other than the headlight, it's an amazing bike. I'm averaging 63mpg which would be important for touring.

  • @sebastians.6084

I can confirm that my t120 is a good touring bike - as good as a naked bike can get. I bought it last December and already did 5000 km on it. Longest travel was 650 km from Switzerland across the Alps to Italy, with approx. 30% highway traveling. On the highway, the built-in cruise control comes in handy. For me (1.86m tall) the sweet spot is around 120 km/h. At that speed, wind pressure keeps me upright and the cruise control stabilizes the riding experience. 👍 As for suspension, I upgraded the rear shocks to Fox shocks, that allow easy adjustment of the inbound speed - that's particularly handy when riding with luggage. Hope this helps a bit.... 😊

@@tts17-thetokensquare68 You're welcome. I forgot to confirm that the headlight is indeed terrible, as someone wrote previously. It uses an H4 bulb, but low-beam is IMHO way too weak - max speed with this low-beam light output is around 70-80 km/h at night times. As a result, I ordered a modern LED headlight recently, but I haven't upgraded it yet. The weather is too sunny for a garage job... 😜 Oh....and I changed to Avon Spirit ST tires about 500 km ago - brilliant swap so far. The Bonny is much more nimble, stable around the corners and the tire feedback gives me way more confidence compared to the OEM Pirelli Phantoms. 👍

I’ve had a blast with it. The handling has more capability than I have courage, which is to be preferred and there’s more than enough power on tap. The styling of the bike attracts the attention of older gentlemen and also children. Lol. All part of its charm, I suppose.

You were gonna do a review of my buddy Alex's Speed Twin back in December I think, I was bummed when you guys couldn't work out the schedule... We tuned ours and are getting 103hp at the wheel as well as 85ft/bs... Tossed on some Ohlins shocks and a damper, K-Tech cartridges and springs up front and you can cruise in style or do a track day on it, and it won't have you visiting the chiropractor after each ride.

Oh yeah, 👍👍👍 fancy that you taking a brsk from discusing beautiful but fast bikes to discus the purely beautiful variatg I love it. If I had a US income I would own the lower cC varients but I ask is there away of replacing the duo shocks at the back with a single?

You are looking at modern brand new Triumphs, I bought a used 2009 Thruxton as my first bike, being a larger-stature person. Love the bike, works for me and I cannot fault it. Don't overlook a used Bonnie, especially if you can handle the torque and don't overlook the older carb versions if you are a big person looking for something besides an HD Sportster, you may be pleased.

Carburetted, pre-2008, 865 Thruxton is the _only_ choice for a _real_ Modern Classic. Clip on handlebars and endless engine tuning possibilities.

Hipster my 70 year old a$$😂😂. My Thruxton R went 151 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2021 and 11.6 quarter mile ET at 119 mph. Okay not Superbike or even 600cc sportbike quick or fast but definitely enough power to give inexperienced Superbike riders more than challenge in a sprint contest.

I rented a Bonneville a few years back, put 300 miles on it in a day long ride. It is not a good retro bike. It is a good bike period. Wish the gas tank was a gallon or more bigger, and that the instruments were more readable. But it was just a fun bike to ride through the desert on interstates and back roads alike

Why do some people think that anything that is not a race bike is no good. Yammie and others seem to forget that there’s no speed limit anywhere in the us that this bike can’t handle and that his kind of ‘performance’ riding is what raises insurance for everyone else who just wants to have a good time rolling around on 2 wheels
