I'd still far rather have a 1959 or 1960 Triumph Bonneville. Modern bikes do everything "better" than old bikes but original Bonnevilles are vastly more fun.

Triumph has done an amazing job of capturing classic bike styling and detail in a modern tech motorcycle. I need one of each in my garage but for now I'm having to settle for my '19 Speed Triple.

Offered value from gained mass, weight, muscle built with brighter lights are what they have become today! Demands placed the pressure that made it this way are mostly from they who have never had one or ridden a motor bike in any way! I say to hell with this evolution and find our way back to the real legendary time founded then of the 1960's these lean and mean beautifully seen heard and felt open riding machines.

@@stuartwilliamjohnson7549 they are an evolution, not supposed to be revolutionary (that already happened). Do you look at a new iPhone or tv or sofa and think the same thing? If they had these features back in it’s heyday do you think prospective owners would of said say “oh no I don’t like cruise control or all that extra power, etc…”! No, because most bikers or ‘motorcyclist’ where always looking for that little bit extra.

Looking through rose tinted glasses the ‘old’ Bonnevilles have a superior fun factor… possibly? But ultimately the speed, torque and reliability of a new bike wins hands down. You can go tens of 1000’s of miles with no issues. An older bike will cost you greater time or money to maintain! But as a 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th bike for summer blasts with added pose factor…. perfect! Triumph know what they’re doing when building classic bikes (then and now)! If they had these features back in it’s heyday do you think prospective owners would say “oh no I don’t like cruise control or all that extra power, etc…”!

I just had a chrome T120 tank made for a bike I'm building. I bought the knee pads and there are brass screws that screw into the sides of the tank and there are holes in the pads. The holes have a metal insert in them. The screw heads are slightly bigger than the metal inserts. My question is do I whack these knee pads with a rubber mallet to get the screw heads padt the metal inserts? Thanks. Even the Triumph dealer doesn't know.

The important thing to remember is that Hinckley products ( while great) are not Triumph. I don't think people realise that John Bloor bought only the name of Triumph and not the company. The conditions of the sale were that he could use the name but that he had to change the logo. In fact he actually distanced himself from Triumph in order to build his new product. Indian also went through some curious copyright issues at the time of its collapse until Polaris bought the name but also the company effectively.

WTH Triumph. Put the Bobber colors on the Speedmaster and Im SOLD. Stainless steel, Flat two tone tank, black engine covers, black mags and other bits. Make a Brown Leather seat like on the T120.
