This happens with literally everything that black people create. Being "woke" in its current pop culture existence began on black Twitter, not on academia. Academia would never utilize a word in the way that "woke" is being used, which is actually grammatically incorrect. It was a topic of black thought about recognizing racial injustice and anti-blackness and became a major hashtag all over black social media communities. And it became the theme song from the major hit Oscar winning movie Get Out, appropriately titled Stay Woke by Childish Gambino. And we all know, white folks invite themselves to anything cool that black folks have. They said, "Oh, we like that idea. Let's apply this to homo/transphobia, anti-semitism, xeno/Islamophobia, immigrantion, and any other injustice we notice. We need to be 'woke' to all of it." And just like that, it's co-opted by liberals and leftists. Then like clockwork, conservatives come along to try and further redefine and weaponize the term to be used as an attack. This is why we can't have nice things...

Notice the specific wording with how she's talking about creating platforms that are "free from liberal bias" and not just bias as a whole. She doesn't actually care about being objective. She just wants conservative echo chambers. I mean, what's new right? Also, do most conservative journalists and reporters just not take English classes in university? Have they not read Orwell's essay? They're supposed to be professionals, are they not? For those who don't know what I'm talking about: When you present something as an objective fact, you're supposed to use objective language. Which means to refrain from using adjectives because otherwise, you're basically telling the audience how to feel without giving them the chance to decide for themselves. Anti-intellectualism freaks me out. I know it’s one of the most extreme examples, but learning about China from the late 40s to early 70s and how the anti-intellectualism grew from other sentiments (that are currently growing in America rock on) to the point where they thought it was a great idea to replace doctors with untrained farmers makes me want to scream when I hear about all these “bad ideas” coming from academia. Being critical of the business practices of universities or their institutional issues is something I’m very behind but when the criticism is basically Big Learning = Bad, people can fuck off with that. Also, please watch the movie To Live based on the book of the same name by Yu Hua. It’s about those eras in China and how it affected the average person living there at the time. Gotta love that it’s also banned in China 🤙🏻

Those virtues are not exclusive to wokeness, or the left. It's the application of wokeness, and instances where wokeness has become something else entirely where most take issue - not that people who disagree simply do so out of a place of hatred. You can be against racism whilst also disagreeing with the BLM movement for example. Some people think it's not enough to get to the right place, it also matters how you get there. Both sides seem intent on misrepresenting the other, and judging all people they disagree by the actions and words of the worst of each side. It's really very juvenile and we'd do better to have conversations rather than simply attack anyone who makes us question our strongly held beliefs.

Documentaries typically either aren't explicitly advertisements for specific products or at the very least most of them hide their commercial nature in a more subtle and nuanced manner than just being short of having the ghost of Billy Mays on screen shouting about how calling in the next 30 minutes guarantees a free washcloth.

It's very intentional, as is the use of a black woman to present the propaganda. It's designed very specifically to capture centrists and those that are ambivalent about the subjects they're talking about. It's also why they keep referring to 'every day Americans' rather than conservatives, and keep referring to what they're talking about as being 'facts'. They're presenting a far-right narrative as if it's a fair and balanced dialogue. It's pure propaganda.

I had an incident decades ago. I worked in a nursing home and was sexually harassed by a male coworker who happened to be black. The owners and my other coworkers knew that my husband and child were black but yet when I expressed what had happened and made a report the owner said they could not fire or reprimanded the employee because he was black. It was crazy

true, but it kinda makes sense I suppose. When their political ideology has almost literally _zero_ empirical backing, it's their only move, ya know? If people are educated, they might end up believing any number of things, but if they've genuinely received a solid understanding of the world around them, they'll always be able to tell that American Conservatism is utter nonsense. It's not an opinion thing at this point, it's a factual thing.. and thus anyone with enough data (and the capacity to understand the data) will figure it out eventually. So yeah.. their only move is to try to keep people as stupid, poor, and emotionally unwell as possible. Unsurprisingly, that's precisely what they're doing. If there existed some sort of like.. "honest Conservatism", basically one that only espoused views with at least _some_ basis in reality, then they wouldn't have to do all this because education would not necessarily illuminate their ideology as fraudulent in the same way. Now in all honesty, I'm not so sure there is such a thing, but whatever lol

That's the audience this content is targeting - that's why it's dressed up as a fair and balanced dialogue and presented like a Vox documentary. From the use of a black woman presenting it to the way they specifically avoid addressing it as conservative content it's design very specifically to trick those people into thinking that this is factual content presented from a sane point of view. This isn't content for their base, it's propaganda that's intended to radicalise people.

Prager U's idea of where woke capitalism came from is so frustrating. They don't care about history, or economics, or government structures. They are idealists and think that ideas are the driving force of society.

Because they were for thousands of years, and when a society starts to become otherwise like today, they start to decline and even disappear, which is why China amongst others that rejected your BS is becoming so much more powerful every decade. Without the right, where the USA would be today? Spoilers: not in a better place. Getting rid of every military and policeman and every bit of discipline would ruin it.

ESG score originally was about being against harmful companies like tobacco industry, about humane need even among investors to find something a bit more humane to invest into, not into misery. but capitalism itself mutated it that if you are just woke, everything else bad your company makes is forgiven, like tobacco firm that kills more people in than anything else. but it gets highest score, because it hires people of color trans people from africa to its board or something. some in oil, gas,coal companies that cause death from their pollution. ESG score naturally was mutated to serve capitalist needs by capitalism, because capitalism corrupts and mutates everything it touches. i mean it was supposed to be documentary not infomercial. at least the creator Amala Ekpunobi called it documentary. if it was honest, at least it would have acknowledged the inherent contradiction of wanting to keep politics out of consumerism, and promoting politics in consumerism. haven't watched it, i hope it investigated ESG score´s origins, how it mutated to serve capitalist interests, and how it affects investing today. I was a profession cross-country skier, and I could definitely say, that ppl who aren't good complain the most. Like I was a top 10 athlete for my category in my state (not in the US, but Idk how to call it other way), and NOBODY in top 10 was complaing about others being better. We are friends first, competitors second. You will have this solidarity towards each other as a fellow athlete.

I would argue that it has nothing to do with Christianity, if by Christianity you mean what Christ preached in the Gospels. Every Republican policy is the literal opposite of what Christ said to do. They just have a bunch of cultural beliefs that they hold, and they call that Christianity, the same way the Taliban calls their cultural beliefs Islam.

I have been a liberal democrat for over 40 years and I like Unapologetic Live with Amala Ekpunobi because she, like me, started to develop opinions about our culture that don’t align with the liberal narrative and after being dogpiled and attacked, I’ve found their content to be much more neutral. I especially like her because like me, she isn’t religious. It bugs me when conservatives view everything through a Biblical lens. I’d invite people here to check out an episode of her show. It’s pretty neutral. I wish there was more media/content creators took this approach.

my older brother is into this anti-woke bullshit and the author he reads most is Dinesh D’Souza. I could 100% sell him a bridge.
