i think this a lil bit of a diminishing comparison, bc both wars and abortion access generally have more motives than just the value of a fetus's 'life', eg. diplomatic reasons or international relations or financial reasons (or the very, very rare cases where a war is revolutionary or aiming to 'take some lives to protect several more'/ end justifies the means type situation) if they say anything along the lines of "abortion is bad bc of the baby losing a life" and then support any form of violence like a war over resources, that's obv a double standard tho i just mean that i can see a situation where someone is pro-war and anti-abortion but not for correlating reasons and i think ur comparison a tiny bit diminutive/focusing on only one of the motives for these positions (but still respect it, all good & just gives a bit more to think about)

to be fair, i don't think it matters - if they're anti-abortion and a foster parent or adopt someone, they may be less hypocritical in what they tell other women to do, but they're still reducing other women's bodily autonomy and still have a bad take, even if they set less of a double standard to answer ur question (i'm not from the US but did some research bc curious too): i found there are around 125-130 mil US adults who are not in favour of abortion being legal. as of 2021 there were like 115k kids awaiting adoption or foster care in the US. it's hard to give exact numbers though, as like we don't really have a clear measure of how many anti-abortion people use the 'just give it up for adoption' rhetoric, nor a metric for how many of those people would be suitable/accepted by adoption services, eg. may not be financially able or may live in a different state to the child needing help, or may have just turned 18 or be elderly and not be in a position to care give etc etc etc so can't say for certain but it seems like overall there's about 1000x more anti-abortion adults in the US than children waiting for adoption, so even if 1/1000 were both willing and eligible they would actually be able to help all children currently in need of adoption and so if they argue that all the current pregnant pro-choice women should 'just give it up for adoption', we'd need like 1/100 of the ppl who are both US adults and anti-abortion to be willing and eligible adoptive parents, or for them to adopt like several kids each sorry for the long post HAHA but in summary/tl;dr: a lot more would need to be both willing and eligible to adopt kids for their argument to actually be feasible in any way, as there are already plenty of kids waiting for adoption who aren't adopted, and plenty of abortions which would increase that list rather than be adopted at the current rates

I've always thought Jubilee was pretty trashy, but putting a group of extremists in the video without disclosing it and presenting the abortion debate as though it's a 50/50 argument is a whole new level of irresponsible. Sure some of us can see through the logical fallacies they used, but honestly I don't think the average person can (which is part of why debates like this are still happening) and therefore there's a certain amount of people that are going to be convinced by their awful opinions.

i think the general/commonly used anti-abortion take/rhetoric is that 'we do care about people, we care about the person that fetus could grow up to be/ we care about their potential adult life' regardless of caring about the mother/birth-giver herself it's genuinely silly to value the potential life over the current one or even to equate them though, but i can see how an anti-abortion person may feel as though they are caring or they are in the right ethically or they are pro-'life' especially if they have religious beliefs about when life begins, or scientific misunderstandings about how pregnancy works, or have seen like fake ads/videos which suggest an unborn fetus is a 'life/soul' in the same way as an adult (just to clarify i'm completely pro-choice and pro-education and pro-access to these healthcare, abortion, adoption, etc. services, just trying to explain in a way which may help wrap ur head around other ppl's ideas)

was genuinely so astounded when ayala was saying that children born from rape are no different from children born consensually, & daphne agreed, and then ayala said “then why are you bringing it up?” like… it’s not just about the child, it’s about the mother/pregnant person that not only has to go through the strenuous and sometimes fatal process of childbirth but also carry said child and experience all the symptoms of pregnancy for 9 months. & especially with rape victims, i can’t comprehend how you can seemingly just forget that they are effected by pregnancy/childbirth/abortion too and not just the fetus/child. (potential tw/cw for describing sa trauma) i can’t fathom thinking that victims should be forced to carry and give birth to something non-consensually put inside of them, for lack of a more eloquent way of phrasing it. victims already experience so much trauma and often this involves feeling dirty about their bodies and such, even if there’s no physical trace left of the perpetrator - i can’t imagine how much that feeling is exacerbated when that persons dna is physically a part of you for 9 months, plus all the normal symptoms of pregnancy. of course everyone experiences trauma differently, so it’s possible for it to not manifest in that way/be okay with the pregnancy, & that doesn’t make someone’s experience/trauma any less valid. however, to not understand or dismiss the fact that others do experience trauma in that way & be so unempathetic about it is just so absurd to me.

Especially because idiots like Ayala will not understand that it isn't about the baby in the first place. It would have shut down her remark of "why did you bring it up then," entirely. It's just so baffling to hear a victim WANT other women to go through the same as her. That shouldn't have even been an argument in the first place.

No caveats to convince not loving the child is wrong or advocating for reasonable government policies for the victims. Just a full Candace quip meant to take another girl down a peg. Her later words left me wondering if she cares more about her own anger at him than her child or any child since birth came off like a subconscious form of vengeance with her, which teen birth has famously been punishment in church gossip for decades, but that's my tiny assumption on her odd behavior though my focus should be on her script that raised a lot of "Tom Cruise" flags.

On top of the fact that when that fetus becomes human, and then turns into an adult - they have to live with the fact that they are a rape baby - an insanely heavy thing to deal with. They now have support groups for children of rape (who in the best circumstances have loving mothers), but even then, it shows just how heavy it is. That mental dilemma I wouldn't want to force on anyone, and abortion solves that dilemma from happening in the first place.

I've always been someone who valued life, like not eating animals, being anti death penalty, etc., and I equated every instance where life is threatened. Did you really want to give birth to that? Anyways I think she feels like she was forced to have an abortion (again she said that she chose to do this because she was 15 and it was her uncles) and no one should have been able to make that decision for her. Also valid, but that's the entire reasoning behind NOT outlawing abortions. NO one should be making that decision for you except for you and your doctor and politics should not be involved. Sometimes trauma makes you see things a lot clearer. Other times it makes you incredibly fucking stupid with no self-preservation. I applaud Ayala for having the strength to raise both her children at such a young age. That being said, she was kind of demonic this entire video and, I'm sorry, this is just what I've observed in the real world, most young mothers her age end up divorced pretty young. Abortion laws should not be made because of someones religious beliefs. It's separation between church and state! Also, if you want me to have a child, then you pay for it and help me raise it! I don’t think the argument should be whether or not fetuses have the right to life or not, since that could be very subjective. Rather, I think the argument should be “do fetuses have the right to grow inside of and come out of someone else’s body.” My answer would be “no.” If we could somehow remove an embryo safely and let it finish developing inside of a tube or something, I wouldn’t object to that. But until we get to that point, I say the pregnant person’s right to bodily autonomy supersedes any of the “rights” the fetus growing inside of them may have. Edit: and even if we get to the point where the tube fetuses are a viable option, I still don’t think someone should be forced to have their unwanted pregnancy removed that way, as that would also be a violation of bodily autonomy.
