This band has single handedly, overnight, reignited my passion for music. I literally hadn't enjoyed listening to music for the last 3 or so years. I thought it was dead and buried. And hearing, "Playing God" for the first time literally made me listen to all of their published music over the course of a day and a half. I've been humming, singing in my head, etc. Shit is fucking gas, thanks Tim, Scott, Clay and Clay. You guys slap harder than a vengeful ex lover.

What really hooked me on this track is the way the riffs almost come across with the cadence of vocals. I can imagine lyrics to the pitch and pace of the guitar work so easily. The thing that keeps me coming back for every release is that they manage to have a "sound", but it's also always radically different. How does that even happen?!

Yeah, it's a staple of polyphia ever since like Muse or right after Resurrect when they stopped doing vocals They also use pretty similar phrasing on each sorta "era", like Muse-Renaissance sound so similar to each other while The worst-present uses different phrasing while still keeping parts of the pop influence

I know that this is out of left field, but just keep this in the back of your mind since I know there are going to be people that say that Tim's guitar playing abilities are so intimidating that it makes you want to stop, or what have you. Guitarists of varying experience levels, Tim more than likely did several takes to get this absolutely perfect. Tim here is absolutely an amazing guitarist, without a doubt. I will not deny that he has prowess... But! Please don't put yourselves down because you saw his best take. We need to remember that no guitarist gets everything right the first time. It takes a pretty decent amount of time to be able to get the right take. Whether it be you, me, Tim, Guthrie Govan, or whomever. No one is perfect the first time. You'll get there, just keep practicing and playing and having fun. This isn't a competition. Music isn't a competition. You're awesome. Just keep playing.

One of very favorite parts of this awesome song is in the "outro",(at 2:32) if that's even the term. If you listen to the album version of this song, it is easy to initially miss how all those light, glittery notes supporting those last few measures are anything but an afterthought. The melody in these last few measures (?) is actually quite simple, but when you see him playing it here acoustically, you can begin to appreciate EVERYTHING (!) else he is doing aside from just strumming the melody!! It's unprecedented. (Please forgive my semi-ignorance of correct musical terms - but you get the idea)

Like you said: he can play anything with alien precision and skills, makes all musicians jealous because he's so insanely good. But there's no soul. And it takes sociopaths to become this good. It's in the playing; no emotions. I'd rather hear a Slash solo anytime. I'm old also. But then again, this must be good because they're so good. Maybe they're too good.

And hearing, "Playing God" for the first time literally made me listen to all of their published music over the course of a day and a half.

Amazing playing as usual. It is a joy to watch and listen to Tim's compositions. His precision and skill is off the charts. His playing also has a lot of expression. Outstanding performance.
I like how at 0:49 he plays the solo with higher notes but then transitions farther up the neck to get a deeper and different sound, it sounds amazing. That’s what’s sick about this song is that Tim and Scott at times play the same thing but at different parts of the neck which makes learning this fun. Legends. Wow, just wow. Hearing the timbres you coax out of an acoustic is impressive. Your harmonic composition and technique are so dynamic it almost sounds like you're changing instruments. Really really nice.

Im a piano player and prefer in general this instrument more, but the diversity and creativity you are able to express with the guitar brings me to want to learn it. just impressive how ease you make it look. Incredible precision.
Holy moly this is on another universe level, I been playing over 30 years and when I watch Tim play I just put my guitar down and listen, he’s unbelievable!!!
This is probably my 10th time listening since release. Just the vibes. Guitar work is so fresh
Tim bro you’ve had a mad rockstar glow up lately good job man
One of very favorite parts of this awesome song is in the "outro",(at 2:32) if that's even the term.
I'm back! Lol. And drunk too!! I just wanted to thank Tim for taking the time to make this video. I watch this one most frequently and I love the way the song sounds and feels with that guitar. It's just a great feeling. Cheers! 🍺

Does your Blues Brother feel the same? I have a vague feeling what John Belushi would say about this music.
