I see a lot of people demanding Polyphia pick up Charles Berthoud and all I can think is... that might be a cool collaboration at some point, but Polyphia already has their perfect bassist. Clay G is fantastic, and he is just *so* locked in with Clay A. He plays exactly the right notes and nothing more, and he plays them at exactly the right time. He gets moments to shine, but more flexing is not necessarily more better. What I like most about Polyphia is that they avoid the *excessive* wankery you see with many other noodly guitar prodigies for the most part. They show off, sure, and they write complex music, but it's not all noodles all the time. Clay is the perfect distillation of that ethos - he could wank with the best of them but he doesn't because it wouldn't make the music better.

@@Phantombuick1 Most of it is pretentious crap, trying WAY to hard to be overly complicated and gimmicky. Doing way too much. I prefer a great melody and pocket. This song is better than a lot of their other stuff, but its still really not my preference. I can appreciate the skill involved, but there is more to music for me than just how many gimmicky techniques you can cram into one run. It remind me a lot of Charles Berthoud. SUPER talented bassist. But he is another one that at times just tries WAY too hard to be overly complicated and cram every technique in the book in one sequence and it just takes away from what could be a great song/melody if he just cut out all the BS.

I know this is subjective, but the same could be said for a lot of bands. It just seems to be the standard created by our generation through the accessibility of the internet and ease of home recording setups (get ready to work your ass off if you don't have a convenient pile of money laying around). With the oversaturation it's becoming increasingly important to standout and create your own brand of music. That's not even mentioning the marketing side of music as much as one may hate to admit it. The musician also has to be marketable, because not everybody (speaking for myself) falls in line with current trends. I never have, never will, but I guess you just have to embrace your strengths and learn how to adapt. Pointless rant aside, not trying to take away from what you said, I completely agree. The main take away for someone like me is not only the saucy aspect of their music, but how do you take what they do and inject it into your own secret sauce. That's all

@GymBum I'll admit I'm a poindexter when it comes to music and a lot of things. I'm not trying to detract from the authenticity of the music. I'm just being honest. I might actually get a little recognition if I was more willing to put myself out there and risk failure. One of the hardest parts for me is being more open with other people. It doesn't work well for building friendships through music and life in general. I'm not the worst, but I've had my moments. I don't have natural confidence, I'm hard on myself, and I don't like a lot of attention unless there's a guitar in my hands. You get what you give, and if you give a lot, you'll be successful as long as you learn from your mistakes and never give up. That's all

I don't know if I can overstate how well the tone of everything is... Like the bass is so deep and heavy and clear, both guitars are such a perfect contrasting flavor and the simplicity of the snare is refreshingly perfectly dry over all the other complex instrument tones. Very well mixed and such good amounts of simple detail. Great job guys.

Your uniqueness and the fact you guys let the bass be heard while mixing, does it for me. I honestly feel you guys raised the bar. #LetThereBeBass
The part from 2:16 where Scottie plays the lead riff melts my brain.
I really like watching guitarists’ hands move in sync when they’re on the same parts
Okay but that bass sounds incredible. I need more songs were the bass is completely audible.
“Hey what you guys up to tonight?” “Just sitting around chillin”
Seeing this live like this takes things to a whole new level in my opinion.

Saw them in concert last week and they are just as clean and tight as they are here despite there being an incredible light show and fog blasting in their faces.
While I love the album version, the mix on the dual solo section in the middle is fucking stellar here. You can pin each guitar so precisely and it melds to make this crunchy sounding layered sound. Absolutely phenomenal as always. Can’t wait for this album. You guys have single-handedly overturned my aversion to new music, and introduced me to so many other artist via crossovers and features.
i think this was a great way to showcase everyone’s skill & you obviously smashed it! you guys made it look super easy and i feel like that fluidity and seamlessness alongside technical complexities when it comes down to a performance, is one of the many really mesmerising things about watching you all do your thing! props to everyone, but especially huge props to clay once again! it seems like there are sometimes some different expectations for him because some very normal post processing for professional music in general, and for the band’s actual genre influences is done on the tracks, but he’s a great drummer and musician. looking forwards to the next release/album drop-whichever comes first!
Man, that drums

Wonderful stuff. I’ve become a huge fan, and hats off to the drummer. I love his his sound and style of play.
Increadible camera work! Able to see the whole juxtaposition of fingers drum beats an bass , all in perfect sinc. Both right hands up an down the fret boards without lookin or anything else than perfect timing , just staggering to see this And then, blown Away by the sheer vertuosity of the whole put together. Perfect! Can’t ask more than that guys, Bravo.❤❤❤😂😂😂😂🙏🙏🪬🪬🧿🧿💎💎💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🥃🥃🥃🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
That Byzance Dark Ride is still one of my all-time faves. I had the 21" Such a powerful bell
I love that we're getting both individual looks at members playing their parts but now even an actual full band playthrough! I wish the guys tons of luck with their forthcoming tour!
JISAZZZ THE BASS IS SLAMMING MY EARDRUMS.. MAJESTIC
Amazing! Serious props to the bassist for being the compass that ties the rest of this together. Proof that you need that root! Something to hold on to! Great job!
I love your music videos! I love your play though videos even more! Love to see see everyone just chilling and jamming out!
Wow that bass sounds sick! Gonna need to check those atk models. Didn't imagine they had such deep awesome tone ❤️
It's incredible to me that the drummer remembers what to play.

The mix is incredible. Especially the bass sound.
Man, take some time to also appreciate the fills and finesse on the kit.
I never realized there was a drum set in the next room. Niceee
You are all killing it... But Scott is on fire here !!!
Thank youuu, playthroughs are so good for when I want to work on my active listening skills! (e.g. following one instrument, identifying the melody vs flourishes, etc)
Wicked playing from everyone - and the bass player’s right hand technique with the picking and popping is downright futuristic!
Absolutely incredible. Please keep sharing these type of playthroughs, extraordinary data for future scholars of music.
The bass sound is just killing me everytime ❤
That bass stroke seems so efficient. He seems to be barely moving, but the sound has this powerful slap-ness to it.
