I like how they incorporated something that each artist usually performs with during their solo - a slight horn section for Cory, a trap beat and crazy filters for Tim, and a halftime breakdown for Plini. Amazing!

Not just that, but also how clearly each of their playing styles comes through in the song as well. Cory's much more funk-influenced playing, Plini's meticulous phrasing and expressiveness, and Tim's sharp attack and fusion of different styles of playing.

You know, I hear "older musicians" that talk about the lost guitar heroes, that there's not many out there that can inspire others to pick up the guitar. Not only do I see/hear three of them right here but the song composition using the trap/EDM fusion arrangements is the jet fuel to the current guitar hero movement! The future of the instrument is in good hands! That is all..... No, I don't work for NDSP :D

I've been thinking about this a lot. And I think part of the answer is the mystery surrounding the old guitar heroes. There were myths about all of them. Social media put a stop to that sadly. Nowadays guitar heroes aren't marketable. That's the second reason I believe. Of course we have guitarist who are at least as good as the old heroes, but the general world doesn't care anymore. Maybe because the heroes of today are quite friendly, calm and seemingly behaving people on the contrary to the Jimi's, the Kurts and others. Anyway Big fan of Tim Henson. Discovered him a few weeks ago (I know, waaaayyy too late). He's a revolutionary guitarist. Could easily go mainstream if he simplifies his music. He inspired me to go out of my own world (which is mostly funk-type guitar). This summer I will be training on my legato, tapping and more metal-techniques to try out his songs :D Also big fan of Cory Wong btw, the guy is phenomenal live!
I love Tim Hensen just shredding like it's a vibe in his fluffy slippers.
to see artists at the top of their game just jamming, without trying to out-do one another, is so so refreshing.

tim's lil bathtub solo really just like encapsulates why hes so special to me. the solo starts and you kinda think you know where hes going with it and just flips the melody on its head, breaks it down into his own motifs, and adds such pretty flourishes that give him his own unique style. its literally like listening to hendrix or stevie ray vaughan, you just know who you're listening to.
This stuff sounds like the contemporary instrumental jazz of the mid to late 90s, Brings back great memories. Ive seen Plini live and that dude is a BEAST.

What I love about good instrumental music what these three make is that there are no vocals but their playing is so vocal in itself. It feels like it perfectly takes the place of a vocalist, and it feels like a vocalist would oversaturate the piece. It’s beautifully composed and so freaking majestic. Even considering their each unique styles; each solo is reminiscent of something like 90’s r&b where you’d have each member of a group solo over background acappella. It’s magic-really.
