WQED did a documentary about Pitttsburgh's neighborhood. The count was around 92. Tthere's also city maps with a breakdown os all the neighborhoods online.
I'm deployed in Iraq right now. I happened upon your series and it makes me miss Pittsburgh so much more than i realized. I will donate in gratitude. Thank you, 'kaka'!

Dean these are going to be timeless in pittsburgh. I've never seen anything like this. Keep going dude. Everyone hit up his Patreon!
Squirrel Hill is were all the cool kids live
"When I want cheese, I'll just get cheese." Amen. So stoked you're doing a Patreon! Excited to participate. I'd love any extra footage that didn't make the cut as a patron perk!
ha ha ha all the cool kids actually live in Greenfield!!!
Clicked so fast love this series
Greenfield used to be the best kept secret in the city, not anymore. You can get anywhere, generally, in 15 minutes or less. It was a great place to grow up.
I can't begin to express how much I love this video. We just moved from Greenfield to Mount Lebanon. This legit made me homesick. You walked past our old blue house on Coleman st, That stray cat's name is Frankie. He was our cat before we moved but we left him with the neighbor across the street. He is an outdoor cat and HATED where we moved. Thus, we brought him back to our neighbor who loves him. Frankie really became the neighborhood cat over the years and seeing him in your video really filled me with joy. You also filmed in a lot of places where I would walk my dog. I know some of this must sound silly but for real man, this video brought me back.
Mt Washington would be a good one. Also E Liberty for a good one on the gentrification of Pittsburgh. Love the content. Keep it up!

Hi Dean... loving this series. I wanted to particularly complement you on your editing in this video. From the snap cuts on the beat of the music, to the rotoscoping you did when you walked behind yourself. You're a talented filmmaker from concept, to execution, to editing. Thank you for highlighting the city I've been away from for more than 30 years, and I look forward to you doing Mt. Washington and Duquesne Heights.

Yay!!! MORE!!! ATTA BOY DEAN! I so look forward to these!
This is an excellent series, and Pittsburgh is such an excellent area to be making them in. You will never run out of content in this area. Videos about some of the suburbs would also be a cool thing to branch into. Keep it up dude, you've made a fan out of me.
That one lady's response to you when she said Mayberry. haha "Oh, Lord, he's too young" haha

OK - I admit I'm a boomer. But I absolutely feel so fortunate to have found your videos about Pittsburgh neighborhoods. We plan to move to Dormont in mid-2020. Is your Patreon page available yet?
These videos are more than just slices of Pittsburgh. They are slices of what it is to be human, in all of its joy and poignancy and beauty and... non-beauty :) It's all beautiful really.
I loved living in Greenfield! I'd ride my bike from Oakland, then stop by Hough's for happy hour to get worked up for that steep ride to the top of the hill!
Dean delivers epic content once again!! 😎👍🏽👍🏽 for the love of Pittsburgh we all need to be patrons!! .....mr Bog i due believe if u made the episodes a bit longer for the extra content u can have deleted scenes and or bloopers an maybe one on one interviews with some small business owners an exclusive behind scenes footage maybe even dable a little into pittsburghs iconic sports teams maybe even team up with Pittsburgh dad for an episode

We need the up and coming Pittsburgh legend that you've become to please do Arlington neighborhood ,we have so much to offer ,a former fort overlooking the river ,lots of history ,a park with trails galore that lead to a plateau overlooking s.s. ,former inclines ,and mine inclines and great great people......
I'd love to see more interviews with yinzers.
“I’m not a child, but can I get in though?”
I love this series so much, thank you for putting your time and effort into this! I grew up in Pittsburgh (Bellevue) and I’m now a sophmore at Pitt, living in Shadyside. I thought I had seen most of Pittsburgh already, but watching these always makes me realize how wrong I am and also excited to get out and explore these neighborhhoods. If I can afford to be a patreon on my college-student budget I will lol. Bellevue, while its technically a borough instead of a neighborhood, is turning into a nicer and nicer place to live. There are a good handful of new family owned restaurants and even a new brewery. (I definitely a little biased but think it might be worth while considering)

Did you know Bellevue is French for Beautiful View! Bellevue is a Great place.😁
Thank you for another great video, Dean. Please consider Beechview, Fineview, Brighton Heights, Swissvale + Troy Hill. My ideas for your Patreon are: "POST THE LINK NOW" and "TAKE OUR MONEY, PLEASE"! :)
Great series, but you should do some of the burrows along the Ohio River like Sewickley or Ben Avon.

Meetups would be rad! Morning coffee in the park with Dean!
Jen Stover's book, Yinzer Poetry is by far the most fun I've ever had reading poetry! It also perfectly captures the Pittsburgh life! I def recommend it!
Meg and I just missed ya on Friday night! We stopped in Houghs during that little parade. Another amazing vid my friend - never disappoints. You’re becoming a Pittsburgh legend!

Highland park, mount Washington, Shadyside, lawrencesville 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 These are so amazing!!!!
Visit Brookline!! Lots of stuff to explore and a great community
Where I was born and raised, down at Magee field we used to spend most of our days!
i feel like this wraps greenfield up perfectly
I wish someone made content like this for Chicago
Dean! I’m so happy to hear you are going to do more!! I’m from Sewickley but I’ve been living in Austin, TX for waaay too long. I’m going to be moving back to PGH in a couple of years and your videos are a great way to show my husband the area, my old stomping grounds, etc. Your videos make me so excited to come home (and they help me consider what neighbourhoods to investigate as I won’t be moving back to Sewickley, there are too many wonderful hidden gems to not spread your wings and explore!) Cheers! ❤️
So THATS where those fireworks were coming from.
Thoroughly enjoying the series and am glad to know more are coming! Along the Dormont theme, how about a couple more along the T? Perhaps Bethel Park with 13 T stops? It includes the Montour Trail, a good chunk of the 2,000 acre South Park and of course; the famous Bethel Bakery and newbie Reginald's Coffee.
hurt my back today, can't really move, but binge watching this whole series is a great distraction from the pain :)
Do one for Carnegie. I want to meet you man. I love what you do
I love this episode. As a young'un I had to schlep to the top of Winterburn Avenue every day after school. That was work!
Can you do a video on BELTZHOOVER I'm from There but I've been living in Germany for the past 24 years, so it would be dope to see a video about my neighborhood
@drohegda
4 жыл бұрын
Sir I read years ago over the Carnegie Library in Oakland that Beltzhoover was originally a German neighborhood. And when they were building the Liberty Tunnels they brought Afro Americans from the New York area to work on the tunnels, so they settled and lived in Beltzhoover until the tunnels were built and many got jobs later in the Steel Mills etc. And made Beltzhoover their home and settled and raised their Families.
Might be kinda nerdy but I'd love to hear more about your technical process; writing, editing, and your cute little effects:) Start the patreon, Im in!
North side neighborhoods next please.
I just moved from Greenfield to Ben Avon after 10 years in my apt there. Makes me miss it already. I use to chill on my rooftop above Magee ♥️ ( ugly yellow house @1:24 )

I ran the fourth of July race every year at Magee field when I was young :-) My dad is a greenfield native. Can't wait to show this to him.
I found you yesterday and just wanted to point out that I watch a ton of channels with 250-500k subs and their editing is 250-500k times inferior to yours. Please keep up the great work and again I look forward to catching you on the island. Just try to wait until at least Jan to film it because peak season at UPS will prevent me from catching you filming.
These are awesome.....thanks for all your efforts, looking forward to the next 10.....then hopefully 10 more......and so......

And please do something on Troy Hill, pretty please? Forill, post info on how we can all help. Cheers! 🍻
Good job, Dean! Don't forget to dig my poetry, baby.
Best series on KZread
Thank you so much! I love it! So true about people staying in the same house for generations. And neighbors knowing each other and helping out. And there are newcomers (like me) who are diversifying the neighborhood. Largely due to fair priced housing. But the houses are also nice. Charming, like you said. Well done!
Brighton Heights next 🙃

im canadian and my dad was from pittsburgh, greenfield is where he grew up as a sports phenom, of course he showed us magee lol. ended up playing pro football in canada where he met my mom. great memories of family vacations to pittsburgh. the oyster house and kennywood stand out for me, and of course the grand parents. they moved from greenfield to baldwin when my dad was a teen, so if you have a video on that can ya post. cheers and great work

When I was a kid my grandparents and great grandparents lived in Greenfield. I swam at Magee pool. At night, I’d look out my grandparents bedroom window to see the lights of the city. I lived in Munhall at the time.
Do Sheraden and I could show you around. Beltzhoover is another good one to look into. Come on Dean, we share the same name
Still watching. Love you too. Behind the scenes would be so cool to see.
Great video as always! I know you’re only focusing on the neighborhoods within city limits but if you ever decide to expand your scope, look into Carnegie. It’s a unique little neighborhood next to green tree and Crafton, just outside the city limits. Worth considering!
Don't forget lincoln place technically part of pittsburgh. I didn't even know it existed till i moved here
Well done. All of these are great. Excellent content. Fun. Super videography. Very fun. More old timer interviews. You could be a young Rick Sebak. Recommend Oakland.. and hit up breweries. Buddy brews for East End Brewing Co. Thanks for these marvelous movies.
So much of what is still in existence in your neck of the woods, is all but extinct where I am. What and how you document is very cozy and tactile in this digital race age to improve and capitalize anything and everything. I am captivatingly inspired. Thank you Dean.
I thought i'd watched all of them...and I had...previously! This is a new one for me! Although it's already three years old. Time to see what else you've created in the last few years! :)
Behind the scenes, extended interviews, bloopers and extended animal scenes.

I would love to see how your find all these cool places and events in each neighborhood! You’re either the luckiest person ever or really good at local research. Love the show!
Can you please do all townships in Allegheny county. I live in the south hills and I love this series. I will continue to watch as you make them. I'd enjoy to meet you for lunch and if you see this give is a like. Keep it going dean 👌👌

This series is 🔥🔥 keep it up
I think a little map (even just a marked up screenshot of Google Maps) for each neighborhood to highlight your favorite parts would be cool as a Patreon bonus. Whether it's restaurants, shops, activities, etc.

Thanks for the great episodes, glad you're making more!
So excited to see 10 more of these! Thanks for deepening my appreciation of the city I live in. As someone who adores your cinematography maybe your patreon could have some behind the scenes. You could even post a couple gifs of shots that didn’t make the cut or that you were proud of.
this one made me smile, Deano
absolutely killing it dude!! im here for all of these. many kudos.

You get some really cool shots. That shot at 8:08 could be a framed picture. I just love the look of the different type houses, the affect of the lights and how they reflect on the windows of the houses and the lighting of the Greenfield sign.👍 Btw, if, or when 😀 you do Aspinwall, can you do it in the Spring when the Farmers Market is in full swing. 😊
Love seeing your vids of the burgh...
