Thank you!!! I went to South High , left Pittsburgh in 84. I now live in NC but miss Pittsburgh ! The Pretzel Shop , that was my Aunt and Cousin!! What a wonderful look at South Side!
I forgot my Aldi quarter today, but I remembered this video so I used yours! Thanks!

At my local Aldi there is always this one kart that is left unlocked in case someone doesn't have a quart. When your finished the next person just leaves it unlocked and parks it in the same place.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, I recently moved to Florida, so seeing this is very nostalgic and heartwarming for me. So thank you that...
I was born at Magee Hospital (1959) and lived in Murrysville until 1979. Still miss and love PA. Great videos!
I love this and my love of the burgh is so deep ,dude you gotta come to Homestead,so much history Carnegie library the steel mills the Homestead Greys, this area is rich in culture, and we have our elder mayor Miss Betty Esper !
Great episode. My Southside was the Southside of the early-mid 1990's. We would hang at the Beehive and go to Randy's Alternative Music or the Eye of Horus bookstore (an occult bookstore) or one of they many other bookstores or neat shops along East Carson. Friday and Saturday nights my friends sat at the round table by the door at the Beehive and met tons of interesting people. I remember there was an Eides of March parade with fire breathers one year. I am glad I got a chance to experience that Southside. It was a great time to be a part of.
I love the south side yes yes yes!!!! I seen rick sebak at light up night last night and told him how incredible your channel is and how brilliant you are I really hope he checks out your videos!!! Have a great weekend! 👏👏🤗👏👏
As an old South SIder, you caught the essence and paid a fine tribute. Thank you
My stomping grounds. In the early 1990s, we writers and artists adopted Southside as OUR neighborhood. The Beehive was the young coffee shop (before evil Starbucks) where we bought tea and coffee for pennies while creating zines, writing stories, drawing the future. Gen-X is often considered to be the apathetic generation, but in fact, we were the first generation to suffer neoliberal austerity as the city reeled from the depression of steel mill closures. We used art and real life connections before the internet to survive and grow. One more tidbit. The building that houses Iron City Circus Arts is called The Brewhouse. It was once home to Duquesne Brewery. When the company closed and the building went abandoned, many of our artists squatted in the factory. After the cops kicked them out multiple times, the artists finally got the city to sell them the building cheap. It's now a loft apartment building with dedicated art spaces. I lived there for a year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good job, as always, Dean.

Right on, Ron. The Beehive in the 90’s was the tits. Mon valley gen-xer here, and musician. we did get the ass end of the stick, but we make beautiful things. There was a guy there, always beat me at chess.

Nick's imports is a gem of a store. He sells things direct from Morocco. Everyone should stop in to find something interesting to give as presents for the Holidays.

New Subbie!! Love seeing all of my old stomping grounds since relocating out of state! Thank YOU!!! :)
you my friend have earned yourself a new subscriber. Keep up the fantastic work!!!
Hope to see you on “The Island” sometime in the near future. I’ve only lived down here for about 18 months, but it’s an absolute hidden gem. I’m a stones throw from the entire area, but next to the township building, I’m in a quiet family oriented neighborhood that’s peaceful and serine.
Fantastic! Every video is better then the last!
What a great episode!! This is art!

I want you to know that I have been watching your vids recently, but I finally subscribed at 5:07 of this vid. Remarkable to include Karwoski's. I used to live in the house that is connected to Karwoski's rear wall. Well done, sir.
Hello Dean great work and amazing filming !
Another great episode! Shouted at you in the jail trail parking lot today haha
Great work as always!
It’s so awesome that all these people allow you to come into their life, to their world, and just observe.
I got to say man I love the videos you do a good job of showing off the different parts of Pittsburgh it's been a very cool series I'm happy I found your channel as a fellow Pittsburgh KZreadr I do mostly gaming
I live here thanks for showing the greatness of southside
You should check out Carnegie. It's a crossroads, where I79, 376, Rt50, and the busway all come together. Historically, it was known for churches and bars. Today, we still have great bars like the Pour House and Alexions, but we also have Wine and Mead made locally. Russian, Ukranian and many other churches are still going strong, with new additions like the Karma Banquet Center and Attawheed Islamic Center breathing new life into old church properties in this multi-cultural melting pot. Carnegie was a steel manufacturing hub, and while some heavy production remains, we now have tech companies and startups moving in, often re-purposing old buildings like the Salvation Army. Carnegie has a booming restaurant scene with hot spots like Bakn and Leo Greta joining old favorites like Gab N Eat. Even the old Carnegie Post Office building has been redone into a hip coffee shop. Minutes from town, minutes from the airport, Carnegie is much more than an exit on the highway!
This was great!
at one point, i would have a pretzel and choc milk 5 days a week.

I was a touring musician for 14 years. My best friend was a bass player from Pittsburgh, Brookline. Norman Hogel was his name. He’s gone now and I miss him dearly. I’m from Florida but grew to love Pittsburgh, it was a long time ago and the drink of the day was a shot-n-a-beer. Great memories of Pittsburgh.
I've never been to Pittsburgh, but South Side Flats seems like the trendiest suburb. Thanks Dean for such a great job!

I live in Phoenix now but this series makes me miss my hometown.
Enjoyed this 👍🏻
Nice work bro keep it coming stay safe God bless
Dean, love this stuff! I’m living in NJ now, but consider Pittsburgh my home! Keep up the great work! Show more Bar11 (and Rob) next time he’s my buddy! ;)
Yep we used to party a lot on E Carson street back in the early 90s.
I love pittsburgh you've done such an amazing job doing these shows. If your ever visiting ocean city md please please look me up
Keep this up, your videos are amazing, especially the Hill one, and Im not even from Pittsburg
You're a true artist. You are too Dean. I was talking about Pittsburgh is a work of art. I dont think anyone could get away with :"the neighborhoods of Buffalo or, let's say, Cleveland." I think the way Pittsburgh is built into hills makes it so unique. My buddy from LA and I were up at a party on the Northside at a place called The Castle back in the 80s. We could see all of downtown from up there and he commented on how cool it looked and kind of reminded him of the North Hollywood hills were he lived. I took it as a compliment.
These are my new favorite documentaries. Reminds me of the old days in my town. Don’t let em wreck it.
I dig your videos. I like how you get it the soul part like the human touch I go to south side a lot. I'm in carrick is that the next place to visit
Dude you should definitely do Munhall/ Homestead! Love the series! Provides a really cool perspective Pittsburgh especially for people who live here...
Dean! Hitting up all my favorites
Oh my god HOW DID I JUST FIND YOU! 😍😍
I feel like I'm there. Good vid.
I’m watching all of these as I get ready to move to Pittsburgh. I love these videos! But seeing the bowl in your friends house at the end gave me hope of a good weed community there. Can you speak to that in general?
I guess the pretzels are what define the Southside, besides all the bars. Well, I'd have to say Lee's Coffee Shop is what really impressed me with the video. It looks like such a nice comfortable place to be.
These are the best , do a Highland park , I lived there for 5 years was young with a really low paying job waitering in restaurants, life was such a struggle ,it takes one to such a dark place had to move back to where I am from, that was 30 years ago but I do enjoy going back to Pittsburgh take my son to Steel city and go to Eides ,Ken is the man at Eides, keep them coming brother you got a lot of ground to cover, anybody remember the Metropol ??? Stay Safe , Dave at 53.

Metropol was the place to be in 90's. I can still remember... Things didn't start kicking until around midnight. You would leave and your entire outfit stank of cigarette smoke. Donzis was right down street and good for a causal drink along the river.

Dig it! I'm missing the South Side pretzels, even though we have some pretty sick pretzels here in Philly! Federal Pretzels Rock out hard! Still miss the Carey Way Pretzels, tho
"Sorry TGIF, I do love your breadsticks"! lolololol 7:34

Healthy ride guy. Crazy Pittsburgh accent!
Hahah I will keep in mind that quarter at Aldi ;) Edit: was at Aldi on Sunday and saw the quarter there! There were actually 2 quarters when I got there and only 1 when I left, so someone else is utilizing the system!! So cool
Man I was born and raised on the Southside what you are talking about comes from the earliest I would say most of my friends that are born and raised there can tell you so much more like me but other than that good video
Camera shots are nice man
Cool video
