MYSTERIOUS City on the Edge of TIBET, Bhutan and India | S2, EP35

Yadong is a county that borders China, Bhutan, India. The landscape and architecture already looks like in the neighboring countries. We visited an old Bhutan style traditional house, fed some monkezs and went to Pari Town where Bhutan merchants come every year on horse back to trade.
Later, we saw the caterpillar fungus trade in Pari, Caterpillar fungus is an expensive Chinese medicine that is more valuable than gold, it's solely produced on the Tibetan plateau and very unique to this region.
We then finally arrived in Khambu Hotspring (the magic hotspring) at night.
Join me on this new adventure on the edge of China, India and Bhutan :)

I am from Uttarakhand state of India and from past 3 days i have been continuously watching your videos. I can relate to so many things since i am from a community who used to live in a valley near Indian-Tibet border known as "Johar / johar valley". My grandfather and many other people from our community used to trade with Tibet. No money involved only the barter system. After the border, the trade route to Tibet closed many people for jobs and eduaction migrated towards cities. But all of us our still very much attached to our routes and yearly celebrate our culture. In winters we love and enjoy the butter tea which we call "jaa/jya" and use Ghee instead of butter. The wooden utensil that we make it in is called dumga/dumka in our language and The solidified cheese is called "chipi". People of our "Shauka" community still go to heights in search of Caterpillar Fungus and we call it "yarsagambu" or keeda jadi which literally means insect root. It is really a very expesive medicine. Its even illegal to trade or sell here in India. But people still do it. Since we had a history of great ties with tibetan and nepalese people we share a lot of common things like food, utensils, clothing, carpet making and the designs and few vocabulary. We come under Bhotia tribe and i believe we are related to tibets, like years ago we were or our ancestors must have been from there. I have never been to Tibet but When I watch your videos I feel at home. I wish to visit Tibet one day and travel the Mansarovar Yatra (Mount Kailash)🙏🌸 Lots of love from India💝

Watching this from Bhutan. Phagri ! A place so far, yet so near. A place we heard so much from our elders. Stories, tales and folklores. I have never seen any pictures or videos of Phagri until today. Thank you for making me feel nostalgic to a place I have never been to. Also brings back memories of some of the places in Bhutan longtime ago. Phagri, Lhasa and Dorji Dhen ( Bodh Gaya ) were the places our grand parents used to proudly discuss about as if they where London, Paris and Tokyo of their times. Phagri doesn't seem like bustling and crazy city but rather quiet and serene just somewhat like Thimphu during my childhood days.

The tibethian buddhism brought to the world is the best they could have done. As it is addressed to ordinary people, it keeps the teachings simple and therefore somehow understandable. The super big advantage is that you can use these teachings in your daily life and must not believe anything. You can proof by yourself. But be aware: these teachings are not what you want to hear.

In our politically polarised world it is so important to have people like you who are simply interested in understanding other people beliefs, struggles, dreams and train of thought. Dealing with such issues as border disputes where even the naming of places has political consequences, is no easy feat. You do it incredibly well, in my view. And yes, I understand that some voices might not get through in this comment section, or even on the internet at all, but content like this motivates me to be open minded and curious all the time. Do you know that South Tibet is gobbled up by India in 1951? In February 1951, three and a half years after India was created out of the polity left behind by the British Raj, India invaded and annexed Tawang and completed the gobbling up of South Tibet. Tawang is the Sixth Dalai Lama's birthplace and home to the four hundred years old Tawang monastery. Today South Tibet is restless and is ruled by India with an iron hand. A law called AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Power Act) is imposed on South Tibet. AFSPA gives India the power to detain or kill anyone with impunity. It is a law designed to snuff out any dissent. AFSPA is imposed on regions India deemed 'disturbed', such as South Tibet and Kashmir. In 1987 India created a state out of South Tibet and renamed it to the so-called Arunachal Pradesh. I put the timeline here to underscore that this land grab is purely Indian and has nothing to do with the British.

Because in ancient times, Sikkim, Bhutan, Ladakh, and southern Tibet were all part of Tibet, China. The flag of Bhutan is similar to the flag of the Qing Dynasty of China. The Yellow Dragon Flag is the totem of the Chinese nation, the flag of China's Qing Dynasty is a five-clawed dragon, and the flag of Bhutan is a three-clawed dragon. There is a saying in ancient China: "The emperor has five claws, the princes have four claws, and the ministers have three claws." It is said that there are two versions of the name "Bhutan". The first version was heard by the British from Indians, and the British transliterated it as Bhutan, which means a corner of Tibet; another version is that Bhutan is a country established by Tibetans. Pinyin: Zuggyü, Chinese translation is 竺巴, which means descendant of dragon or thunder dragon. There are 7 branches of Tibetans, and Butiya is only one branch of Tibetans, and the language they use is also a dialect of Tibetan (it is said that there is no need for an interpreter when talking to Tibetan tourists when traveling in Tibet, China). The current Tibetan population in China exceeds 7 million. Welcome everyone to travel and make friends in China.

The old house definitely resembles to a bhutanese farm house and the one piece wooden ladder is still being used in most parts of Bhutan. Pagri / Phari (Phari tern is popular to Bhutanese not Pagri) was one of the popular trading hub between Bhutan and Tibet during my grand parents time. The caterpillar Fungus known as Cordyceps is also found in the northern part of Bhutan. If you travel to Tingri closer to Nepal then you will find similar such farm houses.

Here's the translation in English: In the past 70 years, the central Chinese government has invested a total of 1.63 trillion yuan in Tibet. Are you still not satisfied? Do you think the money comes to us Han people out of thin air? Moreover, in the next 12 years, China will continue to invest in Tibet by constructing a 300 billion railway project. The national power grid will invest 46.6 billion, Lhasa city's key projects will have an investment of 161.9 billion, and the planned investment for the Yarlung Tsangpo River super hydropower station is expected to exceed 1 trillion.

Banned substances were found in test, and because of strict rules, she was banned for life. It’s very unfair to the poor girl because she didn’t intentionally violate the rules. I was really angry because in the west, athletes who are deliberately cheating, but when caught, they can only be given 2 years suspension. They are rich stars, can sit out the ban and can sue for lost of earnings if their careers are too much affected. A poor country girl bright future was ruined however, because of wrong time and wrong place.
