My Yearly Income as a Physician Assistant & Net Worth Gains

Here is how much I made in 1 year as a Physician Assistant from all income sources, and I'm sharing my net worth gains in 2021 and 2022. Welcome to my State of the Union address. My PA-C income places me in the top 2-4% of earners for my age. This is gross income, single individual, no kids. I am one datapoint in the field of healthcare salaries.

    Hi John! Thanks for sharing! Love your honesty and realness. I discovered your channel awhile ago in the beginning stages of my pre-PA journey, and I’m still on my pre-PA journey but thankfully in the late stages as I’m gearing up to apply to PA school in this 2023-2024 cycle. I think it’s so cool that we have a lot in common! I would say my top 4 interests/passions are Medicine (PA), travel, culture, language learning (French specifically-I am a French major in addition to biology and a minor in public health), personal finance, and also sustainability. Looking forward to checking out more of your content!

    Amen to that!!! Congratulations 🍾🎉🎈. I love the hustle and grind in people and dislike lazy people that live off of other people income 🙄. I am currently a travel CRCST and I made $60,000 for the year only working 6 months out the year in between school semesters. I am currently moving on to Cardiovascular Technology and looking forward to do local assignments after my 2 year’s of training and looking fed for that $3,500-$4,000/wk until I become a PA!

    Hey John, I’m just curious. What makes you want to make more money than you already make from being a PA? Did you just get bored and decide you wanted to make more money? It’s cool and I always wondered myself if I would start side hustles like a lot of other PAs do.

    The more money you can save and invest at a younger age, the more time that money can compound and grow. I love what I do, but want the freedom to continue or stop on my own terms. Also, more money means more guilt-free toys, trips, and experiences.

    Hi John, is the overtime potential being a PA same as RN or do you think RN has more OT potential? Thanks love

  • @JohnThePA

    @JohnThePA

    Жыл бұрын

    I think RNs that are on travel contracts right now have great potential. I've also seen RNs killing it with OT or shift bonuses to $100+/hour. Every spot needs competent and compassionate nurses and nurses have unions that do advocate for better pay/work conditions while many PAs aren't in the same boat. I would say that the average PA is usually making more than the average RN, but there is certainly some variability there. Sorry for taking so long to respond.

    Just a heads up with 401K... While it has the potential to be great, it also has the potential to absolutely screw you over. Before you start investing in it, check with employer to see who actually manages it and really look at the details, particularly all the fees because no one is managing it for free, and remember that the money is taxed on the back end... So be careful !!

    @@angelicaigheghe3999 I recommend shadowing a PA before applying to see what the job is like and to ask them questions. To be honest, I would only recommend medicine as a career if you want to feel fulfilled in life. If you can be happy working a stable job that’s not medicine then do that instead. Medicine as a field actually sucks. Healthcare is a s**tshow. However, there is nothing more gratifying. If you just want to make money then there are so many other ways to do it and it’s easier than this.

    Why don't you share your actual net worth, and not just gains?

  • @JohnThePA

    @JohnThePA

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Lauren, that's a good question. First, my actual net worth fluctuates a ton depending on the market and other factors BUT yearly gains are concrete. It happened and is finalized. Since making this video and responding to your comment, my net worth has increased by another $30k. So why should people a year from now anchor to an old video? Secondly, I share a lot about myself on this channel - but some privacy is still warranted. I'll likely update the channel when I reach a worthwhile milestone. For the time being, we're still in the trenches.
