My First Kayak Fishing Trip on the Etowah River

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

River kayak fishing is something I don't have a lot of experience with so I took a trip with one of the best. Mr Jim Ware (aka The River Goat) just so happens to live here in my new home town. He took me down the Etowah River to show me a few things. I learned a lot. If you want to learn more about his river fishing go check out Jim's Blog. rivergoat.blogspot.com/

Love river fishing! Even if the fish aren't biting, you can just float and enjoy the scenery as it goes by.

You should come back.. I live right near there and there is a perfectly good ramp there now at Hardin Bridge. It's great fishin down to hwy 411 where there is also a new and great ramp. It is also a favorite float I take my family on for just a fun day on the river. I also have access to a couple of private ramps away from all the "fun drunker floats" down river from there.

I love how kayaks handle in rapids. You can almost grind it to a halt right before a rapid if you need to realign to go right in that V. Last year I did some class 1, 2 and 3 and you realize the problem is never the kayak but rather the paddler staying too stiff and not letting it do its thing.

Next spring head down to the Flint river near Albany. If you want to catch some nice bass they have 3 of the 6 recognized Ga species in that part of the river. Shoalies get over eight pounds and the Largies and Spots are big also. If you never caught Shoal bass on the Flint, then you are in for a treat when you hook up with one of these beautiful fish.. They are better fighters than the spots and those who target them say they are even stronger than the Smallmouth. You catch them on the shoals in the river, perfect for yak fishin.

I have been catching bass and breams in October, But can i catch bass on topwater lure that i used a ( Bagley bang o Lure number 4 with a tail spin on the back. Where will the bass be after the coll fron come through here thursday and i will try to fish Saturday. I have seen all of your videos. You are doing a great job of teaching people to fish. If fluke would not happen to answer, ill try to give you some tips to the best of my knowledge. I am by no means an expert like fluke but i hope this helps. Depending on water temp there may still be a topwater bite. we are are 50 degrees in PA so cold or warm front doesnt matter, the top water is mostly over. Fishing after a cold front is hard but doable. I would say throw some slow moving, or finesse lures. maybe some jigs or shaky heads. Thats just my opinion though. Hope you do well on saturday, Tight Lines!

Rich Frollini That why i said mostly over. If you're looking to have fun then it's okay to give it a shot but if you're looking for success, go with the numbers. Eddie seems like he's more interested in just catching some fish, not how he gets them. Therefore I figured I'd give him some tried and true methods for coldwater.

Hey Gene, I'll say i have tore up your videos over the past month. You've sparked the fishing bug in me after 15 years of being out of the game. So, thank you for that! (My Wife thanks you too! haha) I do have a question though. I know a while back you did a video on your Hobie Pro Angler kayak, but I havent seen it in too many of your videos. Did you get another kayak? What is your take on the current pedal yak offerings? I know if essentially comes down to personal preference. I've been stuck between a Hobie mirage outback, a Native Slayer Propel 13 ( I think), or a Old Town Predator PDL. Thanks for all the good informative videos. Sorry about your recent loss. For what it's worth I have lost several friends to the same junk. Anyways, keep on keeping on! Hope you get 500K subs soon! -Crispy
