    Also titled, "How to use your padde as a lure retriever." Lmao, gotta love those rip rap banks. One thing that I enjoy about kayaks and canoes is paddling; it's a great arm and shoulders workout. Just a way to combine two of my favorite things, namely fishing and working out.

    I have used the Palomar knot with fluorocarbon with no problems. Caught a few fish last weekend with it. 10lb fluorocarbon with a 1/2 oz Rat-L-Trap tied on. I even caught a 6lb large-mouth with no problems.

    I always ALWAYS suggest "Try Before You Buy" there are Demo days for Kayaks through the year and also most shops that rent the Kayaks will put the rental fee towards your purchase if you buy in a few days after the rental. But you should research a kayak and then go try it out before you drop that kinds of money on it. Great video Gene thanks for all the insight.

    +Intrepid Fisherman I couldn't agree more. I made the mistake of just going and buying what I thought was a good kayak many years ago and after two trips I sold it because it hurt my back so bat to fish out of it.

    I've been experimenting with the san diego jam for fluorocarbon. It cinches down neatly without coming tight on the mainline so you can slide the knot close to the eye loose then tighten it down pulling the tag.

    I was wondering what size braid you would recommend? Im going to be throwing a variety of baits on it, and i was wondering what I should go with, 20lb or 30lb. This of course is on a bait caster

  • @Flukemaster

    @Flukemaster

    7 жыл бұрын

    To be honest and this is something I just figured out the hard way. Go with 50. For some reason the 30 gives me more than average problems when casting. I've figured out that it has to do with the diameter and not the pound test.

  • @Flukemaster

    @Flukemaster

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Aliex Folgueira there is always a give and take. The Cuda is faster due to it being narrower but you give up some stability and I think it's only a 8 pound difference.

    I see that Louisiana isn't the only place where we haven't had rain in months. I pond fish and the pond is about 4 ft lower than normal but I went out today and I caught one that was almost 2lbs plus a big snapping turtle. I caught both of em on a rapala xr8 in Glass Ghost, even though it runs to 5' I didn't have confidence in it but for some reason in that pond it's always muddy but I catch just about every thing on white baits, I've tried black, blue and purples in it one day and never got a bite, switched to a white chatterbait and got bit in the 1st couple of casts but I used a black and blue chatterbait and nothing.

    I am very interested in knowing about the different type of kayaks and your opinion of them. I've been thinking about them recently. Also, when you were positioned off the rock dam, could bank fishing that area have been as successful as you were from your kayak, do you think? Great learning videos; I have learned a lot and am doing much better because of them! It's nice when you take the mystery out of selecting a bait, or using a technique, or just useful fishing advice. Thanks for your helpful videos!

    It won't scare them that's BS, but a lot of times especially in colder water they like a silent bait vs the rattling! Also pressured fish will sometimes go for a silent bait over a rattling one

    TheMassholeFisherman because fish, just like every living thing doesn't behave the same exact way or have the same exact preferences everyday nor do they always want to feed at different times of day. so rattles may spook them from biting if they're not feeding.

  • @TheBaitmanTV

    @TheBaitmanTV

    Not Fluke, but I will give you a great Example. On Ky Lake, one of the most popular "crankbait" lakes in the country, once bass go deep onto the offshore habitats, everyone throws big cranks (including me). After a few weeks of high fishing pressure, bass will key in on the Silent Crankbaits, such as the Silent 6XD. Some guys will even modify their ultra deep divers 10XD and such so they are silent. It will definitely get you some bites when the bass are pressured. When you take rattles out baits will behave different and react different when they deflect off cover as well. Hope this helps!

    Nice video as always. Any sponsor is one worth doing your best to promote, understood. I primarily bank fish and carry a tactical backpack that I can fit 4 plastic snap cases in, and a good amount of soft plastics, and some attractants,etc. Nothing in that MTB box would have me even contemplate changing the content of my bag to accommodate them. You know how to fish, and can pretty much catch with anything. But the content of the box was junk.

    Hey Gene, great video as always. I noticed that over the past few months you have been losing some subscribers. I don't know if that's because of the Googan squad stuff or business or what, but just keep your head up and continue to do a great job. You've come a long way and you are still a great teacher. Keep your spirits up and God bless. Have a great day!

    I deleted it because the guys that sent me the death threat had my home address man. They said that they were army buddies with Rob and if I didn't take it down they'd pay me and my family a visit. I took it down and called the cops. What would you have done?

    Anthony Lopez yea i have a kayak. Its fun when there is no wind but it freaking sucks when there is even the slightest breeze. I have to control with my paddle and fish at the same time as well as position my boat properly. Its kind of a pain in the butt. Maybe there is something im missing here :/

    anchor yourself. If really breezy and not just in one direction use more than one anchor point... or use 2 fiberglass poles through opposite end scupper holes. if you want to move around a lot the poles is the way to go (obviously in shallower water only)... it is quick to pull them up and move to next spot.

    Jeffrey Davis Fishing kayak fishing is great for the reasons fluke said and more but the wind to me is the biggest downside but I do love my kayak great for skinny water and stealth

    Y are you so negative in all of your videos, it annoys me a lot. Your not even trying and you need to be more enthusiastic about fishing, it's kind of sad I have to tell a "professional" fisherman to be enthusiastic about his job. But overall good video
