There is a good reason the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" was created. Screw anyone who won't have it.

The parents failed and they should cut cousin out of the family and OP is a doormat for not calling them out when they texted him about them making the cousin confess. They need to know they failed as parents for not making the cousin confess that probably would have taken a couple minutes to get out of the cousin.

In this situation, I see several possible responses: Has eve been kicked out and disowned? No? Try again when she has. Or Sorry, committed suicide due to the abandonment of his family awhile back. He left me a note asking me to keep this and tell you he held you responsible for his death. Or We haven’t heard from OP for awhile. Last thing we heard was him saying something about if his mental health and life were going to be destroyed over something he didn’t do, he might as well go out and do it. If you haven’t heard from eve lately, you might want to check on her and give her a heads up.

Utterly disgusting how quick they believed the cousin and dumped OP, it just proves that they are quick to assume the worst of OP. Women like the cousin are the sole reason why actual SA victims aren’t taken seriously, her “it was just a dream” excuse is the oldest tactic in the book. The fact they took so long to finally realize that OP is innocent completely infuriated me and their little “apology” wasn’t even that sincere, it was more like “Oh yeah we found you were innocent the whole time and we’re sorry for that but hey that’s all right! Let’s play family and act like nothing ever happened”. Good on OP for not immediately messaging them, he should take his time and when he does reply, I wouldn’t blame him if he wants nothing to do with them anymore.

I often say such dysfunctional families can have reconciliation if they pay 10x what they cheated people out of.

You need to ask for solid proof before abandoning someone.

Edit: Also, how in tf can you not be able to tell the difference between a dream and a real-life SA?
