2nd story. Fiance doesn't realize where he is on the importance list. He's not in the top 3 and i would look closely at his fiance. Really look hard at her. A woman doesn't just forget unless the man isn't in her top 3.

ST1 Record any interaction he may have from the mother, father or his ex, go to hr or someone high up at the company and explain that he’s uncomfortable that his ex-gf mother may have some power over him at the company and because of his recent break up and the parents behaviour including the ex gf’s dad threatening him that he’s worried the dad might tell the mother to harass or do something that could impact OP’s work and that op is requesting either the mother is moved away so she doesn’t interact with op or that op is moved away from her and op needs to look into getting a lawyer.

Dude with the PhD really going out of his way to defend his fiancée and absolve her completely for blowing off his big day to spend the ENTIRE DAY with her overdramatic friend in the hospital. Especially when the day could have been halved and she attend both things-and only when she realized how much trouble she was in with him did she call him and give these lame excuses and he totally bought it (because he wants to gaslight himself right along with her). Face it dude, she didn’t even want go because it bored her too much and any excuse was good enough to dodge it. You sound like a paycheck and security deposit for her more than anything. About second story... Doormat, naive, this peoples don't give a shit about him, they didn't even send a text message or something, his fiancée could call him or something maybe even telling him the reason before. The bestman is a jerk, i would still have him invited to the wedding but not as a bestman anymore, his family just don't care enough about him and he's too dumb to see that, and screw all the friends, even the one who was really sick because he could at least tell OP why he didn't come. I would never talk with these peoples again even if i know it's a petty thing to do, also if i still talking with them i would never show up at time or even go to their events, and if they complain i would say: "Why should i bother? As you couldn't show up at mine, i couldn't to yours. It's a normal thing right? :)." That's it.

2nd story: Had a similar thing happen to me with my graduation. Evrryone had very legit excuses and I was giving apologies and a party in my honor. But it still hurts sometimes, i can still remember the disappointment i felt during it. Apologies and partys numb it, but its never really gone.

s1; Talk to your boss, your family, and the police warning them of the psycho family and ex. get it documented that you were threatened and want it written down for safety sake.
