Dede in cats that are overweight they can't groom themself they don't reach. Is good to recommend owners with overweight pets to visit a veterinarian and get a diet plan to help the pet have a better quality of life. Nice work Dede and the cat's family did good too!

Kelly my cat was also fat and groomed fine, until the stress on the joints and age caught up. Now she’s a nightmare to groom and poor thing is so uncomfortable. She has never liked grooming due to a broken tail, though we can keep her ruff clean. Highly recommend slimming down your cat now to avoid the suffering in the future.

Overweight cats generally will be less skilled at grooming themselves more completely. My friend bathes his fatter cat every once in a while to get his cat a little cleaner, actually.

In the beginning, it sounds like Dede's preparing for war or a serious surgery. Of course you could consider it war when it comes to grooming matted cats, if you don't know how to handle a cat, it could be a bloodbath! Angry cats are scary and unpredictable, and they act a lot like a wild animal. Thankfully this cat didn't act up a whole lot

I had a cat too long long time ago. When he broke his leg, he had to get some injections every day for the first week. He did well with the vet. But the first two times when i tried injecting him with the help of my friend, he didnt want to have any of that, but when i tried to do it all by myself, holding him down with my leg as i injected him, he was calm and completely fine with it. Different people have different effects on animals.

That cat has relatively short hair, how did it get such thick and large mats? Ive got an older cat with some missing teeth who straight up will NOT groom herself and still a light-to-medium brushing once or twice a week works well. No judging though, I know theres plenty of reasons why and it can be time consuming to follow a brush-hating cat. But this kitty takes it well. If he/she is anything like my own, feeling much better once one mat is removed is probably the only reason the cat didnt totally flip out for the rest.

my brothers cat is an ABSOLUTE nightmare when it comes to nails. its literally a 3+ person job..ive gotten bitten an scratched an hes def not in pain. We started needing to have him in a towel or blanket to help protect us when doing them. Hes had no trauma or anything no reason to be so mad or upset. It is really strange how this cat got matted but its def something that should be looked into by the pet parents. cats normally can keep themselves pretty well groomed. well done dede. Keep up the great work.

Em + The cat WAS matted even the pet parents said he was in the back area and THEY REQUESTED THIS. she only shaved what was absolutely needed. Stop being nasty if you dont like what dede does then GUESS WHAT dont watch her videos an go somewhere else on YT. She takes in aggressive, elderly and difficult dogs that everywhere else has turned away or vets have told pet parents to come to her. She specializes in short grooms to lessen the stress on animals. She makes sure the pet parents understand EVERYTHING before she does anything an she records so they can see anything thats done. once again, if you dont like her style of grooming then go somewhere else. Your negativity is unwarrented

I have a senior cat and he barely grooms himself anymore. I keep his brush beside my chair and brush him whenever he sits in my lap and he loves it. He has medium length fur and it mattes quickly, but I can't get him to let me brush his belly. I just take him to the vet and they shave it. Works out pretty well.

I left a comment on one of your other videos, mentioning my cat and how difficult it was to groom her... I wish I was in your area at that time, because I feel she really would have benefited from your grooming techniques. My cat would hiss, slash, and howl during the process... she was obviously so stressed-out, but they wouldn't let me stay with her. I think it was either Petsmart or Petco. Unless they've changed their policies, I would recommend to anyone they seek out a professional groomer.

I do try to clean his ears out at least a little bit, but I'm sure if he has an infection that wouldn't do anything for him. Is there any type of solution I could buy to help him for the time being? Some do, some don't. It depends on the cat, really. Some do fine without it, some don't. If they have past problems with their nails (trauma from getting it caught, ripped out in a fight, etc) your vet will probably advise you trim them as a way to monitor them. If you ask your vet, they can better inform you if your cat would benefit from it or not

If a cat is overweight, like this one, they can’t reach their back to groom themselves. You know your short haired cat is overweight when it gets matted along the back. The best cure for this is to put the cat on a diet to get it back to a healthy weight. Overweight cats are also very prone to become diabetic, and no-one enjoys giving their cat daily injections when it could have been prevented with keeping them at a healthy weight.

I can't believe she sent that cat home like that. She didn't need to shave it that could have been combed out. That was a very good cat. Well i guess if you are afraid of cats you would say he was bad but really he wasnt..I'm sure she charged her an arm and a leg to do it. I couldn't imagine doing that to someone's animal and do it like it's no big deal.

I’ve found that as well as grabbing the scruff of the neck I put my hand over the eyes as if it’s trying to hide, works really well to calm them down. The added bonus is that what they can’t see they can’t attack.

I hope they didn't scruff too hard. Would a blanket around the head have worked too? Or would it have been too cumbersome? I appreciate you working with the family to groom their pet. Also, Dave is so flippin' cute laughing behind the camera! 🤭

That was a horrible matted section on its back, how does that happen with a short haired cat? I’m glad you only shaved the matted area. Poor kitty now gets needed relief.

The cat was really good and wasn’t going to get mad. The ears need free movement because that tells you their emotions
