She has all the qualities of a good groomer. Calm Patient Confident Firm Unafraid Kind Decisive He looked perfect after the grooming, he knew he was in trustworthy hands further down the video. A lot of time groomers don’t allow you to see how they work but after seeing how she handles this one, I would entrust my own dog with her. And this is also a video for people out there who neglect their dogs, have the money to send them to the groomers but did not, please don’t make your dog’s life a living hell.

I've been a pro groomer for 29 years. I am horrified at the lack of sweet talk you gave. Sweet talk can provide a huge amount of comfort for the dog and make a situation like this oh so much better. Also, this little guy should have had some sort of restraint to prevent him from falling off the table if he snapped when too close to the edge. I prefer a large grooming loop that one front leg steps into and then goes over the head so that the dog is not strangled if it should fall.
He's not aggressive, he's reactive. Scared, uncomfortable, possibly even in pain from all those matted clumps and not used to the process. Poor boy.

I feel like they abused this dog off camera.. Notice when the dog gets super sensitive she pulls on the back of the tie that controls the dogs breathing and than the camera comes back on.. what a shitty thing to do. I can see cuts all through out this video!!!! Don't do it if you don't have the patience...

@@denisefelty3290 No. This groomer is very patient. You can see the dog is just reactive because it is in pain, scared, and has never been groomed before. She didn't abuse him. Many youtube groomers have cuts. He could've been unable to be touched for a little bit and they let him calm down, but because that would make the video too long it was edited out. She grabbed the back because he can't whip around and bite her there. Anywhere else he can. He is just fine. She didn't choke him by doing that at all. If you aren't a groomer don't make stupid and rude comments like the one you just made. You have no idea what goes into this job.

Really? The dog is maybe 8 lbs. with very small adrenal glands. Once he used uo all of his adrenaline fighting her being shaved and bathed he was UTTERLY EXHAUSTED from all of the constant energy it takes to be agressive. Haven't you ever fought and been reaady to sleep afterwards? All of this business that he trusted her and whatnot won't be true until you see him again when he's rested and fresh. That is when you can see if he changed towards her or not.

I could have watch the groomer alllll day long. No screaming, no man handling, just patients, kindness, stopping to calm the boy down when needed. What a handsome little boy. Very different to other groomers I used to watch, it was a breath of fresh air.
I love videos like this that show what is needed when a dog is misbehaving. I think it's just as important to understand when a dog is nervous, or anxious, or temperamental. They are all indications of fear. Not necessarily aggression. The fact this dog stood still for the majority of their treatment shows they were capable of behavior training. It's all up to the owner to raise their pet proper. Always remember: When giving commands, while walking or training, Eye Contact, and Positive Reinforcement are key. Never teach your pet Fear or Aggression, never ever.
I can't imagine how stressful this appointment must have been! For both the groomer and the dog. Great job!
Thank you for being so kind and patient with this dog. It’s a shame he hast to go home to people who don’t seem to really care about him.

Ive been grooming difficult dogs for about 10 years now and in my experience its better to use the wahl bravura 5 in 1 blades on the scared dogs. It is alot less noise and vibration. Also you should start with an e-collar and he should 100% be leaded while working on him. Theres alot of stigma around grooming these difficult dogs bc alot of people dont understand what it takes. But i do, and im truly just trying to give you my best advice. Best of luck, i hope they continue to keep up with his grooming.

Thanks a lot for that advice! E-collars we don't use, thats not our practice, but 5in1 we will try. :)
This young lady has the key element that anyone must have whoever deals with animals or people in distress and fear, compassion. Not only does she have enough compassion to calm the most fearful animals or people down but underneath all of that she displays empathy for those in distress way beyond her years. She is such a delight and treasure to watch as she applies her trained tactics without any fear or doubt, leading the animal into a calmer state than he was before they got started with a gorgeous creature in the end.
How confident and patient you are it must have taken hours. He looks like a champ.

I had a Maltese boy who this guy reminds me of. He'll be gone 3 years in September. He wasn't neglected he was a much-loved baby. He hated to be groomed so because I loved him so very much, I hated to have him groomed. I would do trims and mantainence until I had to take him in. If a stranger touched his little butt or tail he responded the same way as this guy. He wouldn't really bite you but he sounded so ferocious he'd scare the crude out of you! I will miss that little boy forever.
The groomer did such a wonderful job. She was so professional handling the dog. Being so calm, but at the same time she had the maddest reflexes, whenever he tried to snap at her. But who could blame him, having been put in this situation, by the people who was supposed to care for him! Hope they'll maintain his new haircut, so he won't ever get this matted again.
Wow, what a change. He looks much better AND seems to feel better, too.

Un vídeo fantástico, además de súper relajante, impresionada con la gran profesionalidad de la peluquera y el cariño y dedicación con los que se ve que trata al perrito. Gracias.
My dog is a rescue terrier mix around 6 years old that has been bullied by his first owners;I can tell they beat him up with different objects, from my experiences I saw that he overreacts to the working machines such as the shaving razors and vacuum cleaners. He also got matted because how agressive he is.I am not saying the job the groomer have done here is easy but imagine my dog being more nervous and 5 times bigger than this poor dog in the video. No groomers accepted to groom and trim his nails;the vets called me over when they were about to do the nail clipping and showed me he is not letting them. Now I do the grooming and nail clipping all by myself as good as dog groomer quality at home and this all happened because I was patient enough to take breaks, got him used to his paws being touched. Also when he overreacted,I stopped the job and gave him treats and made him calm.If you have a dog like this;it's all because of the wrong treatment and not understanding his fear and what he is feeling. It can be a very calm and friendly dog if you treat it right.
Bless it. He's terrified. My dog is also terrified of the groomer and vet. When he was little, on his first groom, the groomer cut his ear badly, then did not tell me it was cut. It got infected quickly and smelled like a horrible rotten sock, I could smell it across the room, and it took me a while to find the cut, I thought his ear was infected inside. I took him back to the vet where the groomer worked and they denied it. I took him to another vet, and the treatment for the cut ear, the change and the pain of it all freaked him out and now he has PTSD. He is very aggressive at the vet's office. I have to give him to them and leave because he will attack them as long as I am there, then he does better once I'm out of sight...I guess he's protecting me. I groom my dog myself now, he's a Havanese by the way, and I scissor him and use clippers. Now when he goes to the vet, I have to drug him with prescription medication the vet gave him for his nerves. I hate that he has to go through this, and I pity this little dog, too.
Omg the dog groomer, she’s so gentle and patience. You have such a warm heart ❤❤❤❤❤
