"MY AUNT HIT ON ME" - Therapy Gecko

Комедия

A guy reads me a promiscuous text message that he received from his aunt, who he believes is a bad person. His wife also hops on the line and gives her opinion on it.

That dude definitely wants his aunt. I feel like it's either all in his head or we are missing a critical piece of information that would also draw a normal person to come to that conclusion

  • @differentbutsimilar7893

    Жыл бұрын

@@teecee8172 That's kind of the point. Yes, THC does appear to decrease time spent in REM (the science is still catching up, with smart people saying there's not enough to make full sense of the data gathered thus far, as many studies conflict and others fail to be reproduced.) But it is presumed the link to reductions in REM will be better substantiated with time. So you do that for a fixed period of time, get out and away from the nightmares, with the hope that when ceasing the THC and resuming 'normal' levels of REM, a different dream rhythm will pick up, and nightmares will stop. To me, this isn't THAT big of a deal. It's not like it permanently alters your REM sleep. It's not even like you are getting drastically less REM sleep per night. You may still get more than before, if you had enough trouble sleeping before. Like imagine 3 hours a night without versus say... 7-9 with? Who gets better sleep? Who do you think gets more REM overall? What is ALSO interesting, is the role CBD may play in the whole deal. CBD does not push back REM sleep to the degree that THC does, it's measurable but not clinically significant. There was a study showing that it blocked anxiety-induced REM-suppression brought out by PTSD. I'll leave you with this poser... if you are a person who is frequently being awoken by nightmares that then keep you awake for some time after, is it so bad to sacrifice some of that REM sleep to not have them? M My point in asking is that we have to be realistic about the problems people considering this face. There's a chance, if the nightmares are severe enough, that the cannabis still supports a healthier sleep schedule than THAT. It delays REM onset, and reduces time spent in REM. It does not KILL REM sleep. The majority of your REM time is still there. It's more like... you have to sleep longer to get the same amount you would get with a healthy sleep pattern. However, if nightmares already have you spending half of the night awake, I hope you can see how this becomes drastically less relevant. When you're already getting half of the sleep you need, the parameters are a little different... Honestly though, cannabis and SLEEP is a BIG topic without definitive answers. I don't think these broad strokes are particularly helpful. Like... we can look at studies of people with PTSD, who have EXCESSIVE amounts of REM sleep and not enough slow-wave. And again, there is also study to support the reduction of nightmares in PTSD patients, which is a major obstacle to sleep for them. You become afraid of even letting yourself slip out. There are many factors to consider for every individual.
