"I’VE HAD DIARRHEA FOR 3 MONTHS" - Therapy Gecko

Комедия

A caller worries how his boyfriend might react to his “major explosive diarrhea” after returning from a work trip. We review his options.
Afterwards a caller tells me how she is having trouble breaking up with her boyfriend, another caller is unsatisfied with the reactions they’ve received to their cancer diagnosis, and a couple brings me up to speed on an awkward situation they experienced at the orgy they just attended.

    For the first caller: The mind and the gut are connected. As an IBS sufferer any high amounts of anxiety or stress will send my body into a flare up. I hope things get better for you soon man. Gut health issues are no joke❤

    Definitely rings true. Ulcerative Colitis. Stress triggers my flares. Get on probiotics, intake more fiber (easiest on me is PGX), and take care of your mind and your gut! They are more connected than you think

    @@maanramz7537 i have UC too and the issue with fiber is real debatable. I would say if you are in a flare, minimize fiber. Its only going to exacerbate things. I think once things are stable and you figured out what foods work well for you, thats when adding fiber is a good idea. anybody else with a healthy gut, for sure should eat fiber. but I believe people with IBD, need to be more mindful with their fiber intake. your body doesn't absorb it, and its only going to irritate your colon more if its having to push all that fiber through, and thats not going to do you any good when you are flaring. atleast this is the case for me. i just wanted to put out what I've found for myself.

    There's a possibility this guy may have HIV. He needs to be tested. Giardia shouldn't last that long and would only last that long in an immunocompromised person.

    Lindsey, i hope you see that this guy is only ruining your friendships and family relationships in an effort to isolate you from the people that love you. He had only changed for a temporary moment to reel you back because you tried to break up with him. Anyone that can’t allow you space or to create boundaries is toxic and controlling. Please leave before things get worse.

    Nick (Cancer Guy) sounds like he wants validation from others. It’s human nature to want other people to react in a certain kind of way and to have expectations but going to the extend to call in and discuss it so willingly I wonder what else he has going on in his life to maybe distract from that long term thought of having cancer. No doubt that cancer can be a traumatic experience but some healing of the soul may be needed.

  • @uubish

    @uubish

    Yeah it sounds to me like he needs a real therapist, and to stop trying to have deep painful conversations with people outside of his close friend group, family, or a therapist. You can’t expect everyone to care about you the way your close friends or family care about you, or want to hear about a dark experience in a work setting. He needs to understand that. I do feel badly he went through all of that, but hopefully he uses his close network to process the trauma instead of strangers and acquaintances.

    Exactly, if he got over it so long ago, why celebrate the anniversary of the diagnosis and instead remember the day they told him he was cancer free?? Break up a friendship over someone not going “NO MY GOD, CANCER MAN?!?!” That’s more of a “oh sweet, you beat cancer huh? Nice.” At least he saw he was being dramatic at the end of the call 👍🏻 good for him

    Feel like Geck jumped the gun a little on settling into a narrative for Nick's experience. There's probably truth in that narrative, but it's pretty damn harsh to have criticism for a cancer survivor's struggles with processing, healthy or otherwise, after listening for barely a minute. Pretty disappointed that it seems like everyone is more concerned with judging his mistakes than listening to him. Still love you Geck

    LYNDSAY. I think one of the things stopping you from moving on is he is trying to change for you. But remember!!!!!! You should have NEVER had to ask him to change in the first place. Ultimately he is bettering himself but you don't need to be in his life for him to do that. Don't feel guilty. It's not your responsibility. Don't let him bettering himself hold you back.

    As a person who also experienced this same thing, my tips are, try not eating after 8 to 9 pm. Drink a lot of water, stay hydrated. Try incorporating more fiber into your diet, cut back on greasy and/or fast food. If it’s concerning you, however, speak to a doctor. Even if it’s not concerning you though, it wouldn’t hurt to still see a doc.

    Maybe they should try just 1 other bisexual couple to share with, instead of going to a sex party if they have more rigid rules. OR just be upfront and honest about your rules and ask everyone else’s before. Unfortunately when you’re being “adventurous”, not every experience is going to be completely fun or enjoyable because you don’t know the people you’re with very well. To me it sounds like their not mature enough or comfortable with this type of situation.

    I feel the same way about going to the doctor! I've put on weight and my doctor has been mentioning it and I say i'ma work on it but haven't yet. It's been the last 2 visits and I've gained 10 more pounds since going last year and I know she's going to want to talk about it. I have like.. 3 possible issues going on that I shoukd probably have looked at but I've been putting it off cause I need to lose weight first before I go!! It's a vicious cycle.

He mentioned he brought it up to a CLOSE friend, and was seeking some kinda better response, and he came to the ultimate conclusion with Lyle that he expected too much from others. He got too in his head about his cancer conversations. How is that NARCISSISTIC? Jesus Christ dude
