man when the caller talking about addiction came on and spoke about his experience with trying to get sober it rlly helped. i’ve felt like i was a bad person because i couldn’t grasp the rains of my addiction when all i really needed was to try for me. i recently left a relationship because i was continuously lying about my sobriety because i wanted to be sober just for them. i feel so much of what he said and i hope he has a hopeful road through his recovery.

I as well am on and off sobriety for a drug of choice less heavy then his and currently am not sober but have had some good stints. But, the advice he gave about doing it for yourself is incredibly important the issue for me comes up when it feels like using at times is doing something loving for myself. Currently not high and it seems so easy until the urge comes

12 years clean from H here - my advice to the both of you is to try everything, absolutely EVERYTHING, you can to get clean. Try whatever method or technique you can think of. Contrary to what the recovery industry would have you believe, daily AA/NA meetings and 12 steps are not the only paths to recovery. It’s different for everyone. Find what works for you and cling to it. For me it was medication for six years and slowly weening off that medication. All the while I was getting a good job, getting a good relationship, losing bad friends, getting things around me that I could live for. Good luck.

ive been trying to get sober from weed for about 6 months now and ive never struggled more than in these 6 months of my young life (im 21 been smoking straight since i was 15 all day every day) people seriously down play the repercussions of weed and how much it effects the mind. i feel better than ever but at a price of losing longtime friends and being shut out of communities of people all because i go to rehab. the amount of “oh your not addicted its weed” “its just weed” “weed is natural it cant hurt you” “weed cures sickness” “im fine, i dont understand how your not” .. now im dealing with my problems without drugs and fuck is it hard. everything is like a mind game now especially battling cravings . addiction and sobriety is like constantly looking at the greener side through a barbed wire fence.

I shit on the floor in a gasstation McDonalds but dont feel bad at all. I usually stand on the toilet but just felt like squarting on the floor. I covered it in tp to be certious.
