Great reaction, exactly this cannot be taught, it's a god given talent. The way she comprehends an old song but still makes it her own. I don't think she was ever nervous, just in her happy place..... so excited to see how far she goes.... Angelina keep your eyes to the skies and you will rise cheers

Your reaction has been one of the most insightful of the responses I have read about this performance. I so appreciate your understanding of the depth of her ability to convey the nuances of the song at the young age of seven with the lack of age related llfe experience. The voice sings what the soul feels and Angelina truly conveys that, not only this performance, but also in her other performances throughout the years since. She is a gift to the world of music!

she is totally unreal the way she evokes the emotion in the song. i am one of those who have watched it many times. i have been surprised and satisfied every time. i agree with the lady who said you are music, she is a treasure to enjoy and be amazed every time. she is also very humble and supports many charities especially for providing clothing for children. i am sure you have heard the story about why she is barefoot. when she was about 6 i think she was walking with her grandmother in the middle east. they came across a young girl and she had a scale. she was barefoot and was weighing people to raise some money for her family. she thought Angelinas boots were beautiful so Angelina took them off and gave them to the little girl who had no shoes, even at such a young age she was a caring person. she told the little girl she would perform her songs barefoot until all the children had shoes. quite a little gal

I adamantly agree with your summation of what you experienced listening to seven year old Angelina perform this old classic song. First and foremost for me, what I saw in this performance was a young girl whom was completely devoid of the stereotypical behavior one would expect to see from a seven year old child in that setting. Angelina demonstrated self confidence and a complete lack of fear, especially knowing this is a singing competition in front of a live audience. She also impressed me with how relaxed and comfortable she was. I have come to the conclusion that Angelina was endowed with a highly developed intellect, intuition, instincts and empathy. It also seems that she is hyper sensitive to how to interpret the lyrics and the amount of emotion that the lyrics call for.

The only explanation is born to sing, in one her other performances one of the judges said “ Angelina you have the unique ability to emote emotion through song”. Angelina has always had this ability and if it wasn’t for her parents and knowing that she’s not ready, and education must come first. Certainly not music, but being able to maneuver fame, money and personal life is not easy for a 16 year old, heck it’s not easy for a 30 year old. Considering the circumstances her family (shield) are doing a stellar job keeping Angelina grounded.

Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! Even Disney. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her from the evil that unfortunately exists here.

You started when she started singing and that is a logical place to start. When you start a little earlier you see a little sweet girl in a princess dress entering the stage with a wild mane of hair and some teeth missing. Than as soon as she starts singing, the artists appears mesmerizing audience and jury alike and you as well as it seemed. If you listen to Billie’s version back to back it becomes even more amazing: it is eerily close. Even back than she touches people emotionally with her singing and I agree that is what music is all about. The other three performances are all great to watch as well and you can see the jumps in her abilities from one performance to another. She has indeed an inborn spark and ability which cannot be taught. It is exciting to watch her grow and grow. If you compare this song at 7 year old and her current abilities, there is HUGE jump in what she is capable of. Her voice will not fully mature until she is in her mid-twenties and that is another 9 years of growth. I literally cannot imagine what that will mean, but it will be exciting for sure!

I'm glad you mentioned about the meaning of the song. That long pause when the judge asks her what the song means and she says it's about a sad Sunday, made me think: I wonder what is going through his mind, because a lot of things must be. She doesn't understand - yet she sings like she does - what do I say to her? And I agree about the communication of the music. Angelina does that better than anyone, it's what she does.

Yes, you hit on the mystery of Angelina in a deep philosophical sense. Music, when it works as you point out, moves the listener emotionally. In most performers this comes from experience that has brought on those types of emotions, which they call upon to inflect their performance. How does one so young, who obviously cannot have had the relevant emotional experience, reach listeners as if she did? I agree that it is inborn. An enormously precocious empathy? Perhaps. I tend to think she comes about it through another path, a musicality that very, very few have. Therefore, it escapes our understanding. Angelina has said that when she sings she enters this special place in her mind. She describes it as the most beautiful place beyond imagining. That's were she gets it. That's the gift she shares with us when she performs. It comes from that place that only she can experience. ... Thank you for bringing this topic to our attention. It really gets us focused on the question of what is the essence of this pint-sized phenomenon?

Yes, my friend, that was the beginning. When someone discovers Angelina and listens to her sing she will blow that person away. Their brain has no clue what is going on but their heart knew IMMEDIATELY what was going on and opened it's door to let Angelina's love in.The connection she has with people is so incredible most of us (if not all of us) have never experienced anything like this before in our lives. To me she is a Messenger of Love. As you said, words are not necessary to express how you feel. The feeling you have inside of you speaks volumes and here's the kicker: She will actually influence who you are as a person. I often ask the following question to people, "Are you a better person since you have discovered Angelina?" The most common response is they will think for a second or two, then look up, and smile.

Not just "she is good" or so (everybody who is hearing her will know that instantly) but all that extra information about the art of singing / performing. Thank you so much. Second: I liked the way Angelina said "it's about a sad Sunday" when the judge asked her if she knew what this song is about. Apparently that information "it is about a sad Sunday" was enough for Angelina to sing it the way she did, blowing everybody away.

I enjoyed your reaction and comments! I agree with you and think that a big part of what makes Angelina who she is is that she absorbs music (from the emotion, wording, and nuances of a song to the creative environment) with such an efficiency and capacity that what is for her like sipping a drink is for anyone else more like drinking from a firehose. In a similar way that musicians in-studio lay down individual tracks for the drums, the bass line, and the backup singers, etc., so too can we say that in a sense, songwriters/original artists put an "emotion" track on/in their work. This source is not uniformly listened to or evenly grasped by all singers as some sing almost mechanically, some focus on eye-popping notes or other vocal gymnastics, and still others hardly focus on the singing but stress the visual whether it be an outfit, on-stage dancing, or stunning videography. Some lack the vocal skill to deliver it properly. By contrast, Angelina hears, senses, and understands this emotion track perfectly and delivers it to her listeners unapologetically and powerfully. Not only that but she has absorbed the skills from the many monumental singers and songs that she has covered and so can bring a focused emotional laser (of both feeling and technique) to bear on a project, on a phrase, on a note, even on silence. She has all the necessary artistic and vocal skills to instinctively touch that nerve that runs to our heart. The result is as breathtaking as it is unprecedented.

You should read her book. She wrote in her diary, at 6 years old, her experience with the shoeless girl, which was published 3 years later. What that 6 year old wrote displays a level of intelligence and maturity, and understanding, way beyond her years. I have no doubt that she did in fact know what the song was about, as pointed out by Peter Johansson. But when you are asked in front of a live audience what the song was about, and only have time for a quick answer, what do you say? A sad Sunday.

Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZread before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " 💯 *AJ* 💯 BTW, Angelina's mother Sara said in an interview when Angelina was about 11/12 years old, only Angelina chooses the songs and she only sings them the way she imagines.🤗🤗🤗

Wow - fantastic reaction! First of all - thank you. Even after hearing her current vocals, you were willing to take us "back to the beginning" - Angelina's audition on NGT. You're correct in acknowledging that most of her fans (like me) have watched this amazing performance more times than we can count & have heard many reactors confirm that Angelina is "an old soul in a young body". But you sir are the 1st reactor that I've heard articulate Angelina's innate GOD given ability to actually emote the essence of the song direct to our hearts & souls - allowing us to deeply FEEL the music as it flows through her. Always look forward to your Angelina reactions. Hope you'll continue with her other 3 NGT performances (I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang & Summertime). Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.

Jeff, your comments are what most Angels believe. Her ability to capture the essence of a song and deliver it in a way to touch your heart is a talent that few artists can achieve. Many reactors have said she shouldn't be singing songs where she hasn't experienced those feelings and emotions. Well, somehow she seems to be able to take the lyrics of a song and translate them to something she may have experienced. Example, a romantic love song might be translated by Angelina to the love she has for her family. The emotion still comes through. Excellent commentary!!!

I am not saying that Angelina cannot or does not sometimes internalize a song’s emotions when she sings it, but do not think that is her primary method and I think she does something far more magical than that. Like a painter who has jar full of brushes and a palette full of paints and has studied all the works of the masters who preceded her; I believe that instead of singing notes, Angelina paints a masterful tapestry of emotions with her voice.

That was one of the best and most original frame of viewpoints I have heard on this performance. Her choice of this song (The Hungarian Suicide Song)to start her career is intriguing, ...'I am at a loss for words here'... Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " In a interview after this performance Angelina's mom was asked why she was crying during her performance?? Were they happy tears?? Mom said; " They were happy tears but they were also sad tears because I know I just lost my daughter to the world at that point in time,

That was my first take as well. 7 year old's shouldn't understand Jazz, shouldn't want too, an understanding of music is not supposed to be there. Maybe a voice, a power, but not that. Then I heard Billie Holliday's version and noted she even nailed all the rest, the voice, the technical ability. On top of all this mind blowing stuff from a 7 year old is all her interactions throughout. I saw the one with the interview and stuff leading up to the song as well. The whole video is also maybe the cutest video in world history on top of everything else crazy about it. Loved your reaction.

You know I agree with you!! Music transcends everything, boundaries, borders, everything. I recognize that when I listen to Ennio Morricone's "Deborah's Theme", the first two lines or so and how those beautiful chords can emotionally affect me. Mireille Mathieu recorded the song "Blue Bayou" and someone gave it a negative comment trying to compare it to Linda Ronstadt's version and I fired back, "people who love music DON'T compare like that"!! Music transcends borders. Here is a woman from France who chose a song about the deep south bayous and who loved the music or the lyrics or both to choose this song to sing. Just some of my thoughts anyway.

Wonderful insight .. thank you so so much. PLEASE don't fail to listen to the other three songs she sings in this contest. The next one that comes up is I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU. She sings this very musically complex song a capella .. with all the key changes and complexities totally intact and perfect. If there was ever a question about her being a savant, it should no longer exist. Please please please at least watch that one. The other two are also worthy .. she sings BANG, BANG next and then a magnificent SUMMERTIME. I feel sure that after seeing this you will be eager to see the others. I'm so glad you got the version with the translations .. it helps. Amazing to remember that English is not her native tongue! Of course, she had been listening to and singing with Billie and Ella and Etta and many others since she was TWO .. with amazing work ethic that she still has when you see the number of videos she has 140ish covers and 5 originals .. but on top of that she has hundreds of tiktoks, all exquisite, all moving and brilliant .. the same with I don't know how many Instagrams she's posted .. where I believe they are like longer tiktoks but also full songs .. she never stops. She lives music day and night. I remember when she posted her magnificent piece of House of the Rising Sun and her message she wrote was something like "playing around at 5am" Thanks again for this reaction .. I enjoyed seeing it again .. (including when she first sang it in 2014 and went all over the world, I've probably seen it easily 50 times, including reactions). I hope to see you post the other three sometime soon .. I need to seer them all again. 😊

Yes, your comments are right on. Angelina has always delivered the message so beautifully, even back then. What I’d like to add here is that she’s pretty much channeling Billie Holiday here and in her next audition song, I’m a Fool to Want You-which she delivers a cappella and which will break your heart. But from then on, we get Angelina giving us her own interpretations, even at this age. Bang, Bang and Summertime are unbelievable performances that show even within the duration of NGT show, she developed incredibly and delivered very different genres with her own style. This may sound like heresy from a huge Angelina fan, but I think Gloomy Sunday, startling as it is, was not as good as her other three NGT songs.

@@StrateleStudios Angelina has at least two versions of I’m a Fool to Want You. The NGT a cappella performance was at 7 (or 8?) years old and perfectly on pitch. It will melt you. kzread.info/dash/bejne/foyf0K6TdNK4hrQ.html Then several years later is Angelina in a recording studio with just amazing vocal skills, recreating the sound, the vocal slides, bluesy timing, and vibe of Billie Holiday. About Gloomy Sunday: Angelina herself has said, in an interview, that she knew exactly what the song was about! Do not underestimate her! Unfortunately, I do not have the link that proves this, but the evidence is out there in the digital world. She also explained, at the same time, that she is good at the English language. Remember, Angelina is special and much more mature than a normal child.

@High Carb Trucker when Angelina said the song is about a Sad Sunday, she knew exactly what the song was about. The original title of the song by composer Rezso Seress was "The World is Ending" however when poet Laszlo Javor rewrote the lyrics he titled the song "Sad Sunday". At the time he was very sad, depressed, and wanted to commit suicide following his lover's death. When Sam M. Lewis wrote the English lyrics, he titled the song "Gloomy Sunday" Angelina in an interview said that she knew what the song was about and for her to say it was about a Sad Sunday tells me that she must have researched the origins of the song and its history and knew exactly what the song was about.

She says that world is unending and filled with happiness. Your reaction was sincere and enjoyable, but please remember to elevate your support for aspiring young artists like Angelina that you appreciate, as it will create more subscriptions and fan loyalty. Encourage your viewers to like, comment, and subscribe to links you provide for Angelina's and your channels. Equal attention to both! This includes the original video as well as the official Channel and cover Channel. Thank you for already providing the original video link. Young aspiring artists need and deserve your support for their algorithm and career.
