I think you are ready for this, at 16. In less than 1 mo, Over 1 million KZread views (released June 22, 2022) ❗️Angelina starts off with the bridge, completely different than anyone else; and then, begins with the opening line of the song. Her Beehive hairdo is an homage to Priscilla…Many photographs of her hair, exactly like that. And a Leather outfit he later wore. The guitar is the Elvis‘s 1968 “Comeback” Guitar! Rob Christe actually owns this. The two young children are her cousins, her Uncle Michael’s children, the older girl is her sister Juliette. She even had a framed photo of Elvis, at this location. Rob Christie on piano ok.🌺

When you hear her sing 'Summertime' you are going to say, 'Now how does she do that?!!' She hears things that I doubt I would ever hear. All of it a learning process. Somehow in that brain of hers she had reasoned out that if you sang like the stars you will become one. She has come a long way, has developed her own voice which is as distinctive and beautiful as any of those she tried on over the years. When I heard her sing Adele's 'Love Is A Game' on TikTok I said to myself, 'there it is that's her voice.' Nothing I've heard since has changed my mind. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f657p9xyqcLacaw.html Angelina at 16 cover of Adele's 'Love Is A Game'

"Bang, Bang" was Cher's song originally. Nancy Sinatra covered it and made it more famous. Then, if you take the "elevator" about ten more stories up the music building, you'll find a little 8-year old girl named Angelina Jordan making it her own!

Yes, It’s clear that Angelina is very familiar with the original recordings of what she chooses to sing. I’m old enough to remember and love the versions of both Cher and Nancy Sinatra, but Angelina’s take differs from those. She has the ability, even at this age, to change the emotion even though she’s singing the same lyrics. Her ability to inhabit those melancholy themes has been with her from the start, and her version expresses that sadness better, in my opinion, than the earlier recordings. And also, the maturity of this arrangement, the restraint she shows in her vocals, the signature low register, the slowed tempo-they all meld so effectively. As you listen to more, you’ll see that the Girl with a Thousand Voices is only a slight exaggeration.

Thanks for another insightful and enjoyable reaction Jeff. One of the most rewarding aspects of listening to Angelina sing is her complete attention to detail, and the nuance and sophistication of her performances. You see it here at the age of 8 with Bang, Bang, and you will see it again with her performance of Summertime in the NGT finale. I have listened to a number of other recordings of this song, including Nancy Sinatra's most famous version and Cher's original recording of it, and no other singer IMO comes close to expressing the compelling emotion and gravity of the song like Angelina does. I also love the interplay between her voice here and the guitar, which you will hear again between her voice and the trumpet in Summertime. Her voice is so pure at times it sounds to me like another musical instrument in itself.

Yes, all those little details. And here at age 16, she is still amplifying those details. I just love her. People who "worry" out loud about her appeal to an older audience and what that means for her career are underestimating the power of her Spirit combined with her true musical intelligence, artistry, and heart to connect with those who will be the helpers along the path. Perhaps such "worry" is actually a put-down. 💜

Thanks for this reaction! I love your observations: very interesting! About anyone can sing this song: the melody and the notes to hit are not very hard. What is difficult is to make something relatively easy interesting and Angelina did not just make it interesting, she captivated and mesmerized jury and audience. Each ‘Bang bang’ was a little different in tone, voice use, timing etc. She indeed made a big jump in comparison to the previous two performances. One thing I found notable was how subdued she kept her vibrato: there was some vibrato but much less than in her other performances. Already at the ripe age of 8 she is able to turn such techniques off and on as she wants. Since you love details and are going for Summertime next: she followed largely the version done by Ella and Louis. Two details, just after the three minute break she very quietly says ‘don’t you say no’ (as if the Ella and Louis track is playing in her head) and also the second ‘and your daddy is rich’ goes high like Ella did it.

What I mostly enjoy is voice to have a person who actually sings is especially good these. She has many videos when she younger where sound really good. Now she sounds really good. But, she has worked really hard to be where she is now. I think big thanks to her grandmother who I feel nurture her when she was younger. She is remarkable on a bunch of levels. After Summertime, you should stick with her younger self a bit longer and step back to her 6yo studio presentation of Tom Jones' "I Who Have Nothing". Hi Jeff, I have now heard your three reactions to Angelina's first three songs. She learned from the old artists of the 40's, 50's, 60's. But you're right, she can't have learned anything. And that is her understanding of the emotions. It is extraordinary that a child of that age understands so well the sometimes complex feelings that another artists tries to express in their singing and can then express herself in the songs. In another reaction I heard that Angelina is not a star but a genius. A genius like Mozart was. I think that's a very good way of expressing Angelina's talent. The second song "I'm A Fool To Want You" was acapella. She didn't even have all her teeth. And then this performance. You can express with your knowledge what I can only hear. I have no idea about music. I just enjoy the music. Through your analysis and explanations, I understand a lot of things I could only feel before. I felt that this is something special. Thanks a lot for this. And in this song (Bang-Bang) you didn't recognize her voice. At the age of 7 she already had the ability to adapt her voice to the respective song. Only a year or two later she arranged the songs herself and then adapted her voice to this arrangements. Angelina's style was born. At least that's how I understand it. Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany

Its not a Nancy Sinatra song, its a Cher song/ Bang bang was written for Cher by her then husband Sonny Bono and released by Cher in March 1966. Nancy Sinatra covered it in May of 1966. Since and up until present day there have been 89 singing covers the latest being July 2022 by Caroline Polachek. There have also been 11 instrumental covers and numerous foreign language covers.
