The production values are off the charts, unlike anything I've ever heard on any of the songs they choose to cover. The subtle elements that are back in the mix in the originals are brought so far forward it creates a ridiculous wall of sound effect that completely overwhelmes you as a listener and it seriously becomes almost a religious experience for those who heard these songs when they were first released. These people leave me speechless after every song. I just sit there in amazement at their accomplishment.

The Petersens are my favorite band ever, even though I have followed Alison Krauss for 25 years and 15+ shows. KZread "discovered them for me" at the start of COVID while looking for Alison, when they just had a few videos, the earliest ones filmed in the fiddle player Katie's living room and with only hundreds of views. I fell in love with their musical and singing talent and later, as I got to know them, as very special and decent human beings, who I now treasure as valued and wonderful friends. I eagerly looked forward to their regularly posted videos during COVID, which was one of the few good things during that period. Now they are heading towards 300 million views of their live videos with over 800,000 subscribers and a huge fan base globally, just since the start of COVID. And, each one of them is as every bit as sweet, humble, funny and good as you could ever imagine people could be. I'm so glad that others are discovering what some of us have known from the start, The Petersens are the Best in American Music today and they have gotten there with pure and unfabricated talent. Thank you so much for covering this exceptional family band!

Jeff, glad you enjoyed it. Ricky Perterson is a unique dude. Very good singer besides his great B3 playing. Really sad to hear about David Sanborn passing this week. One of the best alto players of all time in my opinion. All the best!

You've heard the beautiful vocals of Katie (fiddle), Ellen (banjo), and now Matt. Now you need at least to listen to Emmett (dobro) and sweet Julianne (mandolin) sing! Once again, thank you for your reactions and for promoting this beautiful band!

Jeff, good choice. I've liked this group's covers of a lot of country/blue grass songs. In this one the fiddle player (Julianne) is really smooth, huge contribution to this piece. They play some John Denver. They also have a good one called "The Read Headed Stranger" which I really like.

Since there is no video of Bach or Beethoven available - I am going to go ahead and say that this 2006 performance is the greatest LIVE musical performance that I have ever seen. This is a truly Iconic song & Gary never sounded better - mix in the choir, organ and the National Symphony Orchestra and it is pure magic!!!

The dobro player, Emmett Franz, is the only non-family member. He grew up playing in a very similar family band, just across the border in north Arkansas. Several years ago, three of his siblings got married within a year, settled down and their band broke up. He was a perfect fit for the Petersens, having spent his youth playing bluegrass with his siblings and parents. He now helps with the instrumental arrangements. Katie, the fiddle player, is the musical leader (director) and primary arranger.

You may find it interesting that they have five different lead singers, each with very distinctive voices. The Mom of the group can also sing, with a Masters Degree in Music Education, but she rarely does unless someone is out or sick.

The credits at the end are their top three tiers of Patreon supporters. When all of the venues in Branson and the surrounding area were shut down during the pandemic, they continued their performance schedule...on KZread. They produced music that was warm and encouraging for people trapped at home, and asked for support through Patreon to make more videos. They entered the pandemic with 50,000 KZread subscribers and no Patreon page. The exited the pandemic with half a million YT subscribers and a five figure monthly income on Patreon. Ellen, the banjo player, is their marketing director. She did a brilliant job of opening that door for new fans. The band members are some of the kindest people you could ever hope to meet. They spend time before and after their shows talking individually with their fans.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a film comparison between the Carpenter's recording and this. Just for how it was done. The difference in equipment alone is exciting. She sure has mastered the. Art of lipsyncing.🥰 At a live performance. I can't imagine that there is a “dry eye” in the house.

harmonies from siblings seem to always have a little bit more than others (Beach Boys), and this family has it down. all smiles and joy playing together. the little bit of vibrato at the very end sealed the deal. thanks for introducing this group to us. ☮❤🙏

great version of this song. i love the instrumentation with this group and how they just do their thing without theatrics or ego. when CMT first came to our cable company i got addicted to country music. George Strait, Randy Travis, Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, and Lyle Lovett in particular were the guys that i really gravitated towards. then i got strung out on listening to Alison Krauss play the violin and sing like an angel. similar to jazz, soul, R&B, and the blues, IMO country and bluegrass are music traditions that were made popular globally by American players and singers. of all the things that America exports, i think our music makes up for a lot of things i wish we wouldn't export. once again Jeff, you are pushing the boundaries of your channel. ☮❤🙏

"Dobro" is the Gibson trademark name of the guitar. The non brand name of that type of guitar is "resonator guitar", but normally you'll hear people refer to them as a Dobro no matter who the manufacturer is, sort of like Coke for a cola and Levis for blue jeans. The Petersens are one of my Top 5 all time favorite bands. I am 66 years old and was a DJ for the majority of my career so I have heard A LOT of songs. That being said, I have a request. I would love to see and hear you do a review of "Farther Along", which is perhaps one of the most recorded and most performed songs in history. In The Petersens' version Matt Petersen (guitar) and Emmett Franz (Dobro and only member of the band not in the Petersen family) take turns at singing lead in the verses of the song, and harmonize in the choruses. I believe that you will very much appreciate the vocal harmonies in this one. Would you please give serious consideration to doing a review of that particular song by The Petersens? Here's the link for you to check it out - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKeEz5OOl8uwh5s.htmlsi=ULMBtXU4eqLF6bWf Thanks so much and may our Father in heaven bless you beyond measure in Jesus' name!
