@@badjonatan base. Your CPU frequency is determined by two numbers: the core multiplier and the base clock. On virtually all modern CPUs, the base clock is set to 100 MHz by default. This particular number sets the speed of a lot of other things, like interconnects between PCIe devices and stuff I'm not super familiar with (because I don't touch it and it just works). To get your CPU core frequency, you multiply the "multiplier," number with the base clock. So if you have a base clock of 100 and you set your multiplier to 50, that's 100 x 50 = 5000 MHz, or 5.0 GHz. Adjusting the multiplier is how you usually overclock CPU frequency on K series CPUs or Ryzens. But on non-K series Intel, that multiplier is "locked," or not available. You can't just dial in a multiplier of 50, tune the Vcore and LLC a bit, and get a stable 5GHz OC. But now, you can tune the base clock. So if the default for something like a 12500 is 3.0GHz "base clock" (different kind of base clock here; this refers to the lowest frequency the CPU will run at normal operation), it's 100MHz base clock x a multiplier of 30 that you can't control. But if you could set your base clock to 150 MHz (which may not even be realistic, I never did BCLK overclocking before), that will be 30 x 150 = 4500 MHz or 4.5 GHz, which is faster than the CPU is supposed to run. But you can cause a lot of system instability OCing this way, so I never bothered with it. Would love to learn how to do it safely.

@@badjonatan you understand how it works, but your terminology is about a decade out of date. This value was called "front side bus," speed back in the era of physical North Bridges on motherboards. Some sources may still call it that, but most everyone has moved on to "base clock," or BCLK, (which again is different from the "base clock," that really just means idle clock speed), now that the functions of the north bridge have moved onto the CPU die. Simple video that explains more: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oGqYmdlucZvaabg.html

@@Gersberms the review scandal was similar to what other companies had before. Manipulation of what gets published or not by suggesting retakes or offering monetary compensation for not publishing the review. Using a text with very nice words, that requires a second to notice what is implied. it has happened and mostly likely continue to happen in the industry. If they changed ways or not, is unknown... they probably did, given Steve has not push it further. what probably has not change is they nitpicking quotes from reviews. Based on the correspondence content it was mostly likely a case of corruption caused by upper management pressure, similar to what happened to Volkswagen. so it important that all sides do not encourage the other to "given in" by paying attention to ethics and morals. Is also probably why nobody care much about it anymore, it just the "political scandal" of the year and that was it. That is why Steve advocate for a more hard-line and careful stance when dealing with companies response to reviews and doing a "as If you brought it" review regardless if yes or no. While also asking companies to stop trying to influence results attempting to turn reviews into "free marketing disguise as review". What was more severe was they disregard for consumers by buying back GPU stock and reselling at higher price. While the first can be a question of what reviewer have attention and morals you can trust, the last is horrible. They did not committee a crime in law, yet have done something totally despicable that should be a crime.

TLDR: the high performance ram, even the ddr4 is being bottlenecked by the best of the 3000 and 6000 series gpu’s at resolutions over 1080p. From what I can tell with my rudimentary understanding of all this is that as of now (August 2022) the ddr4 is being bottlenecked at 1440p resolution and higher. At 1080p we see the high speed versions of ddr4 working unrestricted with high end gpu’s. The ddr5 should do this at 1440p and maybe 4K depending on how much more powerful the upcoming 4000 and 7000 series gpu’s are going to be.

@@dereksmith6713 The only time to even slightly worry about ram speed is if you are running a top tier rig and wanting benchmark numbers as high as possible. Why waste money on ddr5 for almost no gaming improvement when the money could be spent on a better gpu? The cpu or gpu will bottleneck long before ram speed is important.

Vrm's on this board is fine. It supports dual 8 pin connectors for cpu power, which is massive even if you want to install a 12900k, and it has big heat sinks to disperse the heat. The only issue with installing a "k" series cpu on this motherboard is that you will not be allowed to manually overclock the cpu. So if you plan on keeping this board, rather save your money and buy the non k cpu (13700 or 13700f).
