Living on the bleeding edge sometimes dont let you see whats going on on the middle of the blade For most people and specially homelab enthusiasts who usually adquire old servers would be thrilled to put ssds on their hardware

@Level1Techs Do you heard something about the Intel HEDT/WS platform's refresh for LGA4677? In February there was news that new LGA4677 processors would be announced. Maybe you heared something at Now Computex 2024? Intel told about new Xeon 6 platform with new socket but it is servers segment not WS and mamy people are waiting for something new for LGA4677. Is there still a chance we'll see something new this summer for 4677?

USB-C as in 3.2 USB-C with 10Gbe Ethernet? Are you looking for unobtainium? AFAIK the best non thunderbolt option are those 5Gbe-but-not-quite Aquantia chips. Looking forward for wathever you find about though.

Then your looking scale of the amount of compilation in the space which is amazing. Then you have a culture at intel that made the company loose against their competitors. They need to show the regular consumer that they can innovate.

Don’t trust them it’s a new chip a new process in manufacturing what I’m looking at is the amount of wafer failures.

You are not doing proper comparisons here with the benchmarking, and that can be misleading to your viewers. For SQLite, you need to compile with -DSQLITE_THREADSAFE=2, if you want to make the most of the EPYC platform that supports SMT. With your tests, you are using "kind of" half the capacity of the EPYC system and comparing to a full Intel platform.

How does MS benefit by undermining Strix Point & Lunar Lake x86 AI PCs? What am I missing. They aren't a significant OEM. Last time I looked mainstream Windows PCs had a large cost advantage over Apple. Perhaps it's another big MS strategic bet, based on their own AI hardware and Azure? In the past MS didn't bend over backwards to encourage competition, in fact the opposite. They also apparently played games with Surface & Xbox. Using AMD development platform then at launch event with AMD engineers near the front row announced a production contract with Intel. Xbox was also entertaining bids from Gelsinger while Sony have built on a relationship to have time to deliver custom features. Wendell's suggestion that MS is beating AMD/Intel down would appear to me to make more sense for Dell than MS. If MS ignored out of box support for the Phoenix NPU, Hawk Point and the coming Strix Point, rather than OEM wanting to tailor customer experience they're abusing their OS strength. There again MS appears to be undermining Windows with 11, losing market share just as Xbox seems to be falling apart with gamers.

very interesting, it seems like when you have twice as many channels as you do ccd's performance suffers (as we see with the 32 core 8 channel). Its almost like each ccd is working extra hard because it has to handle more channels. As for the 24 core with 4 channels, understand there are still 4 ccds here (6 cores per ccd), so we dont see it impacted vs the 32core 4 channel (which you verbally mentioned.) Correct me if I am wrong here.

In regards to the mention of Phoenix Labs studio shutdown: Fae Farm is a rather popular Switch game that is AFAIK akin to Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. Also available on most other platforms. Dauntless is a Free-2-Pay easy-mode Monster Hunter clone that got trapped in a perpetual Epic Games Prison exclusivity deal where they couldn't even run the game from their own dedicated launcher any more. Failure was swift and Fae Farm was their only way to stave off closure, but it wasn't enough it would seem. Can't say I'm aware of anything they were working on aster the launch of Fae Farm last year, but I'm sure it got canceled. Studio built on making easy-mode clones of other games... couldn't have been anything important. Still, my sympathy to the developers. Worst possible time to be ANY tier of game developer. At least those skills transition to other careers rater well. SoftDev and Graphical Design. Both pay much better.
