MRL Night Gas Local Westbound on the 4th Sub (4K) | Huson - St Regis | April 3, 2022 | DJI Inspire 2

Here's a quick chase of Montana Rail Link's Night Gas Local heading West out of Missoula along the Clark Fork River on the 4th Subdivision. Specifically these scenes are from Huson to St Regis.
To my knowledge it sounds like they take the 10th Subdivision the majority of the time so it was neat to see them take the 4th Subdivision since it's a little less common. Some really neat locations along this part o the MRL.
These scenes were filmed with the professional DJI Inspire 2 and DJI Osmo Action.

Montana is a very picturesque state with nice forests, big mountains and beautiful rivers. You capture all these things in your videos perfectly. I like it that you put labels onto things (creeks, sidings etc.), so we can learn about the location. I'm sure the two mighty SD70ACes can easily handle this short gas train. Great video again Dan, your MRL uploads are much appreciated. :)

Thanks! Yeah I just recently started doing the extra labeling and I'm really liking it myself. I'll be back to the MRL next week for over a week and will hopefully have many more uploads to come.

The scenery that MRL runs through is beautiful. The way you video it is outstanding. You pick just the right time of day, lighting always seems just right. And, of course, you have a knack of knowing when the trains will be running on the segment of track you want to video. Always look forward to your posts, thx Dan!

Thank you for documenting this Montana Rail Link gas train, Dan! The train looked great and the scenery was beautiful especially along the river. Thank you for the labelling the former Milwaukee Road bridge across the river. As soon as I saw the bridge, I was wondering who the former owner was.

Great video. I've always been fascinated by the Milwaukee Road and its abandoned tracks in the West. Years ago I had an opportunity to bike their route around Cedar Falls WA.

Great piece of railroading art 🎨 by you again, Dan. Some good looking motive power there, a little bit over powered huh!? So is that where their storing up all that petroleum, to make our prices go up? 😆 Oh that's a good one! 😂 Thanks for the birds eye, on the blue birds. 🖖🤙

Great video Dan, wish you could have got more between Lothrop and the tunnel. I grew up right there and have a large painting of natural pier bridge on my wall. First speeder ride was above the river and through the plateau tunnel to Cyr and back when i was about 7.

@@TheRailfanDan Hi Dan; May I ask about the controller etc for your Inspire 2 ? Does it incorporate a 1st person viewing device ? Or is the viewing device a separate item, perhaps something that is not even a DJI product ? Thanks, Dan. James.

Yes they are through many of the hill and mountainous regions. They do this to keep the grade of the track as level or least amount steep as they can so trains don't have to work so hard. River grade on a railroad usually ends up being not too terribly steep even in very rugged regions.
