Farewell MRL Part 1 Preview

This is the first release in a new 4-part series on the Montana Rail Link before it fades into the BNSF.
We begin in Missoula and follows MRL’s Gas Local over the 4th and 10th Subdivisions to Pipeline. Then we turn east over the former Northern Pacific’s racetrack to Garrison. Highlights include MRL’s system-wide manifest trains the LM (Laurel-Missoula) and ML, the Bonner Local, both Day and Night Gas trains and a few of the BNSF run-through trains including coal, grain, and crude oil.
This series was created to preserve the memory of this amazing regional railroad. Farewell MRL!

those 70series look boss in mrl’s paint and that sd40 also looks like it was made in recent times despite being 40yrs old

Thank you! I look forward to getting all of these released. There has been a lot of work on this project over the past year. The opening scene of the GP35's was shot by young talented cameraman by the name of Christian Schultz who has contributed a lot of great footage in this series.

It's like the Ozzy Osborne Farewell Tour...
I jumped a lot of freights out of Missoula during and after the merger in the early 70's, NP and GN country back in the day. Spent time at the rail yard, round house area railfanning before MRL shut down the former NP depot and turned it into a prison yard, I'm not sorry to see MRL going out of business maybe BNSF will change things for the better.
The homogenization of our railroads is depressing. Losing Burlington Northern, Santa Fe and now Montana Rail Link and others.
