    Nothing like Oregon shortline action, thanks for another good one, Dan.

    Very nice, Dan. As an "Original Transcon RR" enthusiast, living in this area enables us some interesting short rail fan trips. Thanks.

    This paint scheme is great, green and yellow always works well together. It's interesting when the locomotive runs long hood forward. We rarely see this with the Class 1 railroads. But I guess this is more common on the shortlines. The two towns are very lovely, they are typical American small towns. I like the big school bus depot at the start of the video. Amazing footage again Dan, thank you for your efforts.

    It runs short-hood forward going eastbound. Even if the A&E has the right to use the Albany wye, it involves the UP dispatcher, several Amtrak trains, and both UP and W&P traffic. In other words, a PITA that's probably not worth it. Anyway, there's no wye anywhere else on the line.

    Thanks Z! Yes he is correct the Albany & Eastern actually has no way of their own to turn locomotives so this is pretty common these days when they only run with one unit. Years ago it was common for this train to have two units but for at least a couple years now they have ran it with a single unit.

    I enjoyed watching this video of the Albany & Eastern Hauler running from Lebanon, Oregon to Albany, Oregon, Dan! The drone and ground views of the train gave us an unobstructed view of the train and the surrounding landscape. The green landscape looked good as the train passed.

    Great video, Dan! Albany & Eastern has been running trains in and out - and through - the Albany yard since Willamette & Pacific took over in 1993. Before about 2002 and the PNWR's leasing of the lower OE and OE yard in Albany, AERC had a job based in the OE yard and interchanged there, running through the WPRR yard to get over to Lebanon.

    Such a beautiful video. Love seeing the train going through town. Once again I get the strong impression of a model railroad set up, especially starting at 2:21 and including the depot, of course. So much fun and educational to watch your vids, Dan.

    I know you love your vista footage, as do we all, but trackage through small towns is so cool. How else would I get to see a makeshift 'roof' built on 4 shipping containers to facilitate unloading of covered hoppers. Simply brilliant, and an amazing modeling project. I vote for more 'in town' views...just sayin'. 🤘

    Yes Dan, filming over towns and highways, is your drome below 250gm? Do you have any public liability insurance? I only ask because I took the commercial drone licence here in the UK, and flying over public and private infrastructure required all sorts of permissions.

  • @TheRailfanDan

    @TheRailfanDan

    It's not quite as strict here about what you fly over but yes I have heard about how many rules you have to deal with in the UK.

    Do you need special permission to fly the drone (and film) over the Albany switching yard?

  • @TheRailfanDan

    @TheRailfanDan

    Technically no because the railroad doesn't own the airspace.
