Feather River Route For Sale

Here's an overview of my Feather River Route N-scale layout as of July 2024, with some railfanning shots thrown in. I've decided to sell the layout due to a move to a larger basement and starting a new freelanced HO layout. Please pass along this link to anyone who may be interested in being the next caretaker of a layout that can be reassembled and up and running in a matter of months (I know, as I've done it 4 times!).
It is built in standardized and independent modules that are 6' and 8' long, 15" and 18" wide, plus the corners, that can be reassembled in multiple configurations to suit your room size and modeling preferences.
Everything is included in the sale, including more than 65 locomotives, 350+ pieces of rolling stock, full Digitrax DCC electronics (throttles, signaling & detection hardware, JMRI running on 3 Raspberry Pi boards, etc.) - everything you'll need to get up and running quickly. The layout is currently in the Atlanta, Georgia area and I will disassemble the layout, pack its contents, and help coordinate shipping to anywhere, at buyer's cost. I've spoken to professional layout builders who would be available to help reassemble the layout as well.
My contact info is at the end of the video, and more information is available here:

Enjoy!

Mark great to take a trip down memory lane. This video is worth saving. So many memories over 30 years! Wow. Best wishes for the next layout owner. They will be getting a master class model railroad.

It's a great layout, I have operated on it many times and can attest to the quality of construction and attention to detail throughout. And can confirm that it can be moved - as I did not operate on it until it was moved from the west coast to the east coast - it's that well built. Some lucky buyer is going to get a better layout than the video presents, because it is hard to put into a reasonable length video all of the features of the layout.

Twenty years ago I worked a fiber optic route from Oroville to Salt Lake City, drove through the Feather River Canyon many times. Seeing this brings back many good memories, amazing re-creation in N scale.

North Fork Bridge, Teddie Wye, Clio Trestle - impressive. The background flats painting tree lines reminds me of Jim Dias' FRC layout.

Hey Mark: Great video, layout looks great. A few observations on the sale promotion purpose of the video: 1) You never mention the actual size of the layout, ie: linear feet, only that it is modular and you used two lengths 6&8’. You don’t mention widths or the number of modules. 2) You don’t mention if locomotive fleet and rolling stock included (or can be included). 3) You don’t mention that its Digitrax and if that’s included (type and number of throttles, command stations, boosters). If is or is not included, you should say so. Good luck ! Joel

Very cool layout but WAY out of my league (and budget and space). Hope it finds a new and caring home. :)

I'd love to know if you find a buyer and what the price is. Most layouts go unsold because nobody is willing to pay even what the parts are easily worth.

I agree. It's hard to figure out even where to sell it. A friend was successful selling his on eBay of all places, but even he admits he got lucky.

Yes, add to that it's custom fit to the existing space. I would be surprised if it could be broken down and reassembled elsewhere.

@@riogrande5761 Normally I would think the same but in the video he says it's modular and has been moved three times already. Obviously some modifications would still be needed but looks a lot better than most.
