Finally a fucking show that accurately shows what bullets do. As well as the sounds the pops and ricochets sounds. Whoever the sound engineer was on this show has serious talent.

Sounds like they went to the range and shot up some cars with live ammo. Used that for the scene but what is impressive is how it synced up. Must have used the same gun with blanks and timed the bursts just right. It’s very impressive, could be they just added special effects in the scene later but I don’t think the budget was that high for all that.

I love this show, I’m a combat veteran and they finally did a realistic drama/comedy. It fit the military humor while also being spot on with the action. I love the attention to detail on this. Rey controlling his breathing. Hiding in a dark spot. The sounds or the smg. The rounds penetrative the vehicles skin. His deliberate cautious unhurried movement. Trigger control. All excellent

From a barrel that long and 9mm (assuming he has good defensive ammo), they’re definitely (mostly) going through and through a car and a person. It’s sad that so many Hollywood producers/actors don’t do their research when it comes to ballistics.

Yeah it is was easier to control that way. Short range bursts or else even a big strong experienced dude will end up pointing it in the sky after a long burst.
I really appreciate how this show does shootouts, especially when it comes to cars. Unless you have an axel or an engine block between you and a bullet, even a 9mm will have no issue going through a car.
The engine sounds; you pump rounds into a liquid cooled system you're going to get pops and creaks as hoses and structures are rapidly sinking heat into cooler air. There's been a lot of thought into the bullet sounds and effects, and they're marvelous. But the thought to include the pops and clicks as material loses pressure and temperature. I'd hazard some of the sound devs saw combat.
And that, girls and boys, is what a submachine gun really sounds like -rate of fire and the sound of the shots. I did National Service in another lifetime and we trained on the Sterling, among other noisy things. The huge muzzle flash never happened with live ammunition, but did when firing blanks.
