    @@chardtomp you obviously haven't watched the show. The detectives and officers were intentionally sent into a high risk situation without knowing what they were getting into. This was because they were investigating wealthy, corrupt people and knew too much, so they were put in a situation where they would likely die (i.e. going up against heavily armed cartel members guarding a cookhouse).

    More than that, a female detective that looks like she has never trained a day commands a squad of officers, brandishing a firearm while walking to your targeted location while in a group is like holding a big sign that says "SHOOT ME!" Aside from the other points people has made what actually annoyed me is that in real life when there is a shooting people does cross the line of fire like that. I worked at club late at night and seen some shit, it always baffles me. Shooter has a "cone" of fire, which is the danger zone, within the first 2 seconds a large percentage crosses it like they cannot determine where the shot came from or what to do. Sadly it is why people get hit.

    So many issues, for one there is no reason for cops on a raid to just walk in the middle of the street casually. Two the ak the window guy has has infinite ammo, too fast rate of fire, and would easily penetrate the cars they hide behind. Three the cops could have easily suppressed him by continuously firing on the window instead of just letting him duck in and out with impunity.

Ray took a few of them with him, but it was sad his message to his son never went through. And Frank’s death made me lose sleep. Him walking through the desert mortally wounded hallucinating. You keep hoping he makes it somehow and then he sees his wife. The way she says “Oh babe. You stopped walking back there.” He turns around and sees he already died. Damn! Some f’d up sh*t.

    I know season 2 had it's flaws, most notably the confusing plot, however it was still all in all a phenomenal season of a tv-series. The acting was brilliant, especially Ferrel and McAdams, (with the latter giving her best acting performance to date imo), and even Vince. I think it was too hard for many viewers to take his character seriously due to this being one of his first role that wasn't a comedy in so long most people didn't even know he did a number of serious roles early his career. Which really sucked, cuz he gave a great performance and yet people simply couldn't see that. Though not being nearly as amazing as season 1, i think it as a whole blew season 3 outa the water. Which is also strange, because for most viewers - apparently liked season 3 way more. Anyways, great action scene!

    @@joogullae3456 Good point. Everyone was comparing it with season one and seeing as how it simply wasn't as good, people overreacted and said was terrible. Even though, imo it wasn't THAT much worse than season 1. Like i said, it had it's flaws, most notably the confusing story, the characters and acting more than made up for it. Taylor Kitsch also did a phenomenal job as well, but doesn't get any credit and for the most part is thought of as nothin but the "Friday Night Lights" guy. But between this, the 2010 film "Bang Bang Club," "Savages," and "The Terminal List" i think he's pretty damn good and very underrated. But, as i said in the earlier comment, Colin and Rachel really stole the show - and both gave performances equal to Woody's and Matthew from season 1. The scene when Rachel poses as a prostitute to go in and grab the one chick they had been looking for, and when trying to leave a big security guy grabbed her and tried preventing her from leaving - she for the first time since she had been training following her sexual assault - had a chance to put it to use. But when she did - the look of horror on her face afterwards was some of the finest acting you'll ever see.

    In a small town like ours our police department does carry small arms so they would sadly be walking into a situation like this. As John says on the ASP channel on KZread Officers don't pick their gunfight the gunfights pick them and you go into a gunfight with the weapon you have. Its just the way it is in some towns. What wins gunfights most of the time is the heart and will of the cop or detective. Tactics can be important yes but as we learned in the Army that all goes out the window because the opposition has a say in the gunfight.

  • @jim2lane

    @@32a34a for a small town police force like you mention I get it, but this scene obviously played out in a large metropolitan area where the police would have more resources available to them. Also, this scene did not play out as a random shoot out that officer on patrol came upon. There was planning shown at the beginning of the scene where they discussed what they might be walking into. I realize that this is fiction performed in a manner to maximize some level of entertainment value, but it should be pointed out that you would hope that real law enforcement given similar circumstances wouldn't be quite as incompetent as what is shown here

  • @32a34a

    @32a34a

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@jim2lane I agree with what your saying and I noticed some errors in what they were doing during the shootout but as you said its a Hollywood production. Having said that there have been some real world shootouts where shit went sideways and well lets just say things did not go as planned. FBI shootout in Miami for example. Granted that was awhile ago but man they knew they were going up against some serious cowboys and yet they still underestimated those guys. The errors in that shootout led to changes that are still felt to this day and and are used in training to this day. R.I.P. Agents Benjamin Grogan and Jerry Dove. My point is I guess True Detective gave it their best shot but I think they came up short as they made some errors which you pointed out and I think a couple of moments nearer to the end made me think yeah right even Dirty Harry couldn't pull that off.

The police made a glaring oversight by not performing a risk assessment, gathering intel, securing the perimeter around the factory they were about serve a high risk warrant and perform a raid on a clandestine drug lab. Swat and hazmat should have been at this scene with air support. Detectives going out alone on a job like this would be a death trap. This scene is a classic example of piss poor planning and execution. And how to see yourself either in a body bag or before a judge explaining why your police operation resulted in extraordinary loss of life and property damage.
