Nice guide, Mike. Just a note that later reissues of Toyworld Constructor are frequently reported to have major QC issues and poor parts support so that is something to consider if you’re jumping in late on that set. I wish you showed Maketoys versions of Megatron/Reflector…they are amazing in-hand and underrated….although stylized they have great presence

FYI: Trypticon is from Season 3.

I love what maketoys is doing with the seekers, and coneheads. Also reflector from Maketoys is very nice.

I pre-ordered MP-52 from Big Bad Toystore a while back. Starscream is my favorite Transformer, but I think this will be my first and last MP. The Deformation Space Starscream looks good, but we have yet to see the Alt mode, so that's the main reason I'm holding on to my MP pre-order. Regardless, I think MP-52 looks great. Maketoys looks good too, but the back kibble, the butt flap, and the tiny head proportions really put me off of trying to get one of those.

I like the MakeToys Reflector and Badcube Insecticons personally. There is also that Planet X Trypticon if you're into the video game designs.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Maketoys' version of Reflector, the only offering that does a pretty good job at not parts forming.

Really hope Maketoys finishes their coneheads. Forget the seekers... that mold just nails the Coneheads. Went ahead and got FT insecticons...they do come with alternate insect legs thankfully! I had and was happy with the MMC set, but the yellow vac chrome pieces are fall-apart-in-your-hands brittle. KFC's reflector set is really nice if you get a set of the latest run. They fixed the feet, fit and finish are better than they used to be. The updated Bruticon set also has a fixed and remolded Brawl along with a lot of other fixes. Never happy with X-Transbots Menasor. Weak joints, *horribly* unstable, forget posing it...the worst frame former gestalt I own easily and there's no excuse cause it's a frame former!

People have a better chance to find Bigfoot than finding a Magten for sale. I wish more than anything they'd reissue Magten but I already have the straight KO and have IT-01 paid off in the meantime. People who have it should consider themselves very fortunate. As far as the Seekers go i'm going official TT all the way, coneheads included. I'll worry about the Deformation Space Seekers if they make Seekers like Sunstorm and Hotlink. No point bothering myself with them other than that because their Starscream doesn't look as good as MP-52 to me. Even though they tried stealing MP-52's aesthetic it looks a bit too blocky. Everyone that complains about MP-52 having a barrel chest and beer belly obviously have never seen the cartoon because he had a "beer belly" in that too. A word of warning for people who are considering buying a Toyworld Devastator. You better be able and willing to fix it yourself if the need arises because Toyworld is nonexistent when it comes to after sales and getting people replacement parts.

The new Takara Starscream mold makes the Seekers look like they are wearing diapers. I just can't unsee it. That and the high price are really a letdown. I still prefer Maketoys.

Great buyers guide 😎.. you could of showed Skywarp and Tundercracker some love even though there the same mode as Starscream.. Octane is not pre movie after the movie. Five faces of Darkness 🥴😁

I don't recall Shockwave ever being light purple. Same with Galvatron - Takara's LG23 Galvatron (repaint of Titans Return Galvatron) uses that exact same shade of light purple...and for what??? Even in Japanese exclusive series The★Headmasters, he wasn't that light. Seekers...Yes Model or KuBianBao MP11 mold KOs, if you can find them. 😏😏😏 Don't care about the Coneheads enough to be worried about them. Besides, between Yes Model & KuBianBao, one group used allegedly abandoned Toyworld designs, while the other used the iGear modified MP03 Seeker mold design to do the Coneheads. Not sure if Maketoys ever got around to doing their Coneheads yet. The only third-party Astrotrain that holds a candle to FansToys in terms of looks is Transportation Captain from Fancy Cell Toys, but that thing is intended for CHUG, and is hard to find now. Probably doesn't help that Siege Astrotrain is a thing, either. So while he's not perfect, FansToys Thomas is really the best Astrotrain in town. (DX9 Chigurh was a fugly joke, and Toyworld Devilstar/Evilastar was also meant for CHUG in addition to being a fuglier joke than Chigurh...) Blitzwing? DX9 Gewalt for me...if I wanted a MP scale Blitzwing. KFC Ditka, well, I've only heard bad stuff about it, so that's a no from me. Uhhh...you DO know that Octane & Trypticon are both season 3 and thus NOT part of the 1984-85 squads, right? And as for Reflector...no love for Maketoys?? Combiners: Devastator was season 1, so he counts. Superion, Menasor, Defensor, & Bruticus are all season 2, so they count as well. But, XTB may have started gettin' their Defensor out, but MMC hasn't started theirs.

Shopping for a decent Shockwave masterpiece. Wish me luck!

Nice video! In some cases i don't know which one is the better version or simply fit better in my collection. Now i'm waiting for the mp52 to release and some reviews about it and then Blitzwing Will be my next purchase and can't decide between ditka or gewalt.

Ditka looks more Toon but Gewalt is more solid

Remember the first KO modified offering, iGear's seekers? I still have their Thundercracker and Thrust. Although not exactly perfect bot modes by today's standards, the alt modes are still accurate while all the others take liberties with the jet designs.

The reason why the Cloud 9 and Fanstoys Shockwave look similar is because the original designer of the Fanstoys Shockwave left them and joined Gigapower. Gigapower then released a tweaked version of Shockwave under the Cloud 9 brand name. Fanstoys was really salty about it at the time. 😂

I think there more decepticon options after the movie. There weren't many decepticons in the first place especially season I & II I wasn't sure if Hasbro meant for the seekers to be troop builders or the insecticons to fill out the ranks. I think Octane is season 3 I guess RatBat was technically pre movie I believe. Honestly I think you got it covered except seekers repaints that appeared in the show that do have masterpiece versions.

I have all three Seekers pre-ordered but the more i look at the metal deformation version i may have to get that one instead

What about the Maketoys Megs, which is the one I use because I find Takara is currently too toon for my collection.

For some seekers certain color variants are only done by some companies. For instance, iGear was an earlier MP design, that inspired subsequent ones, but they have orange sunstorm. Also, octane was NOT pre-movie, so definitely an oversight to include in this video.

Nice little vid. Definitely DO NOT like the MP 52/52+ - just looks wrong / off - barrel chested - dimensions are incorrect - not that "Toon" Accurate imo, & the PRICE POINT is INSANE, in comparison to Make Toys. Deformation Space looks like it might be the one to have, but have to wait until I see it in person. FansToys Insecticons may be #1, but BadCubes are only just edged out & half the price. I keep hoping someone will make an OVERSIZED Trypticon to fit in properly.

Huh I didn't think Trypticon made a s1 or s2 appearance. Still holding out hope for FT Soundwave to shake free some reasonably priced MP13's. Also on the Seeker front the upcoming remasters from MakeToys are supposed get new faceplates to throw another wrench into that battle.

Thanks Mike gr8 📹, I just got the re-issue of Fanstoys bugs but im still missing kickback hes very elusive and on the secondary market im not paying $700 for him, and im still holding out for Fanstoys blitzwing I've had him p.o.@tfsource for over a yr now and from what I 😳 👂 some have him p.o.for a couple of yrs now thats crazy, im not collecting everything I have some autobots but im more of A DECEPTICON GUY im just w8n 4 Fanstoys Dead-end, their dinobots already have snarl, swoop, a new soundwave(Fanstoys),starscream and im done. Oh im definitely looking for Mindwipe hes 😎 I really like him as well, but its getting very expensive $240 for skullcruncher(I p.o.him) thats crazy and hes not even a triple changer wtf i feel sorry 4 people who didn't po blitzwing its a new mold so what $400 its getting ridiculous with these prices u can pay ur rent with 2 Fanstoys figures 😬🤣🤣👍🙏📹

The similarities of the molds like the Seekers really turned me off. However, the desire of collecting all of the characters is too strong and the only obstacle is the lack of funds (my wife is glad about this)

octane and trypticon are season 3

Apollyon is still my Megatron. The Ko. It may be an option. I’m already good with all the characters. All I need is the chomp. And the rest of the Targetmasters and the power master deception. A good predacons and seacons. I’ll be set.

pretty on point with most of the recommendating except octane. i recommend you google "g1 octane cartoon" and then compare it with UT and KFC. not even close. KFC looks clean and about 90 percent toon accurate. Provider has a dumbo face and about 50% toon accurate. The other stuff i agree with and to be honest i got most of the old FT like the insecticons and dinobots etc long before the modern day scalper market so glad I been there for this Sh*&show started with scalpers and after market garbage

My only gripe with most 3rd party figures are the ugly skinny silly looking ankles.

I didnt know someone was making another soundwaveee. And i been saying for a while we need a new one that looks more cartoon accurate. *sigh, now to pay rape prices
