maketoys is JCVD!!

I like this. I generally like to go for the toy/toon hybrid, where the figure looks like how I wanted the original figures to look, but not to the oversimplified stylings of the animated figures (hence my love for Maketoys Gundog in toon colors). Also, if a figure has been released by several different companies that has several different repaints/retools, I try to get each mold for a different figure. A perfect example of this is I have Maketoys Hellfire for Inferno, Takara for Grapple, and MMC for Roadcrane. (I had planned getting X-Transbots Tirador for Artfire, but that looks like a no-go.) It gives a bit of variety to what would otherwise be a more or less carbon copy of the same figure...

I'd definitely like to see your seasons 3, 4 and who your wreckers are, or anything else worth mentioning

Great vid as always, although I find it a little sad that you have to keep telling people that these are your choices/ opinions/ etc and if it doesn't align with theirs that's fine and they don't need to get so uppity about it.

You ain't shittin' about that "late tax". I've been extremely lucky to catch a lot of reissues. Unlucky enough to get stuck with some KOs and damned lucky to have caught a few that just languished in someone's stock room until I found it.

Loved this wish something like this had existed when I started collecting a couple years ago. Thanks a bunch Bobbie. Every time I see a post about wanting to get into MP collecting I'm pointing the person this way.

I think it's worth noting for MP Optimus figures that MP-10 is still a valid choice. There are absolutely things the TE-01 and MS-01 do better but our old boy still holds up really well as a whole. And aesthetically speaking I'd go to the mat arguing that MP-10 still looks like the most badass of the 3 outside of the gun size. Dude looks like he could still kick the shit out of the newcomers. I have all 3 and love them all but MP-10 still holds the "Prime" place on my main MP shelf.

Toys is subjective. You have a different opinion about masterpiece and that’s great. That’s why I watch it. You point out things I didn’t see and vice verse but it’s always entertaining. At the end of the day if I can look at my collection and smile from ear to ear that’s all that matters. Funny enough I have 90 percent of everything you picked and the two honorable mentions from maketoys

I think we can all agree that it´ll probably VERY interesting in the Skullface household and especially on your channel workspace, when you receive those mails, DMs and what not and there are...I dunno...hundreds, which fall in the category: explaining to the tiniest of minute details, everything spread out...on a wooden panel...like fine thin slices of serrano ham" or people complain and shred everything to bits for something to complain about, because you said it, concerning your Springer wars.^^ A lot where I say that I don´t need, but otherwise...great recommendations overall.

@@Thetazord Absolutely. As great as Earthrise CJ is, he's wayyyy out of scale with any collection outside of Earthrise. Hopefully FansToys fills that spot, but wouldn't mind Ocular Max taking a 2nd go at it.

I like the mix and match of the different characters companies. I kinda look at each company like different nationalities. The MMC inferno and Grapple from the other company are my representations. MMC hoist and whenever ft ever comes out with their trail breaker. Will represent different regions of Cybertron. And why have the same toy with the same transformation and build with a slight alteration. Example, red alert and sideswipe. Seekers are a great example of this. I do have all the Takara seekers minus the coneheads. I went with the bigger Toyworld ones. I need those to be different from the seekers. They stand out and look good on the shelf. To me it's great that we have today all these companies making these characters today. Great to be a collector.

Great vid. Agree on almost all of them. I would note that the hip upgrades to Ironhide and Ratchet are a must for me. Also plus Jack is significantly different and I liked it better.

Too be fare, I think anytime anyone talks to us in a bath robe. But I will say I really enjoy having the GigaPower Dinobots in their dino modes along with the ToyWorld Constructor. I just think they mesh well together. I definitely fall into the same boat with a lot of these choices with the exception of Cliffjumper, I just hate all of the offerings and hope we get someone giving us an actual "worthy" figure to be placed on our shelves. Thanks again for another great video.

I just paid $170 for mmc jaguar. Didn’t want it at the time. Then I got their rumble. Loved it. Got the birds on sale just because. And now I had to have Jaguar. 100% worth the late tax. As long as they don’t reissue in the next few months anyway.

Season 3 and 4 videos please! I would also be interested in seeing what you would recommend for your IDW collection. I know that one isnt close to complete and is spread across various line (CHUGS, legends, masterpiece, model kits, etc), but I'd be interested in your take as I look into getting some of those bots for my collection.

You should revisit this topic. It's been 3 years and a lot of choices have been released since this video was recorded. It would be interesting to see what has changed.

I agree on most with you from this video. But just for me personally, I prefer the altmodes to look as realistic as possible, and I like the G1 toy esthetic better than cartoon. So I'm looking for Occular Max Backdraft for Inferno, I do like the Takara mold though, and therefore I also really want Takara Artfire. And just because I like the paint apps and gimmicks better I'll go with Weijiang Ultima Guard for Omega Supreme, which might also be a fun toy for kids to play with if they visit me. I'll probably display him with my Legends figures though.

Ditka seems to be coming in an updated version with stronger knees. Would love to see this video on IDW stuff.

Great video! It's almost a summary of all you have recommended in the past. I would really like to see the other seasons. Would it help if we raise a charity fund for Fanstoys so that they can invest time in that Blitzwing? I think that is the most anticipated figure from the last 4 years or so (and now, Astrotrain as well). 😁😂

Why is it that reviewers like yourself HAVE to constantly put in your videos that these are “your opinions”???? You would think that most serious collectors of G1 would be gen x’ers, and therefore not susceptible to “their feelings” getting them riled up lol. Either way, new collector here. You have been a big part of shaping my early collecting philosophy.

I think that's a good list. I'm personally not into the mini bots but those fanstoys offerings are looking good. I surprised more people aren't into the DX9 offering for blitzwing. I understand it's got its flaws tank mode in general but for toon accuracy I think it's the best out there and I wont have a need to replace him. I wish you could do six shot fanstoys vs DX9

I’m just getting the More than meets the eye group with Decepticons too. Got Toyworld Contructor and I’m gonna get Terminus Giganticus to have together as they should be. Then I’m going from there. Just need a few more Autobots to be able to start on my Decepticons. Huffer, my preorder of Brawn, and Hound. Oh and I’m gonna make my own Cliffjumper out of a mp45. I know I’ll end up getting the Dinobots and Skyfire when this is all done. Where I go from there, I do not know. Till all are one, maybe?

Excellent vid. Point of note, theres nothing wrong with your fans wanting you to pick for them. In my case i have a limited budget but am very patient. Your sensibilities line up with mine as do your preferences on what you look for when comparing. I find myself nodding along in agreeance to almost all your vids. You have a status now like it or not as a premier source of information, knowledge and in turn are a major contributing factor towards purchases. I trust your choices but in no way would i hold any negativity towards you if it turns out i find out later something suits me better. Ultimately the decision was mine. Ps, soooo... combiners... zeta now or fanstoys later? Would you consider guesstimation vids for those of us that will only be able to afford 1 purchase? The dinobot vid was excellent, but with say Superion, menasor or predaking, an educated guess would help as to which end combiner will display most suitable for MP scale along tw devastator. I know its subjective but thats where the gamble and the trust is.

Rob Scurrah skull stated that in his discussion videos he doesn't answer comments but reads them. My guess is you will need to back track on some of his videos and get information that way. In this video he already stated his opinions based on what is out or coming out on combiners. TBH it is anyone's guess at this point regarding all the combiners since by the time they are all on the market as choices it prob be like 2021.

I want a another 3rd party to tackle Megatron. Everyone is kind of scared because they know the Takara is the best even if it has alot of problems. But I am sure Fanstoys and a 2.0 Maketoys and even Fans Hobby could make a better one.

Ditka is the only figure I destroyed (scrapped for parts) after it fell a THIRD time (and this is with the replacement knees!). STILL waiting for a viable Blitzwing...

Thanks for the great video, Bobby. I went with DX-9's Blitzwing until a better one comes out. I did a lot of research on Trailbreakers before I settled on one, and I ultimately chose X-Transbots for the bot mode aesthetic (the vehicle mode has paint issues). I ditched my Takara Sideswipe and Red Alert for Badcube. I went with DX-9's Omega Supreme due to the aesthetics of their yellow shin guards. My other choices have aligned with yours. I'm still really disappointed that no one else has tackled Blaster and Perceptor. We've got 3 or 4 different companies putting out versions of other characters, but we've only got one Blaster and one Perceptor? Come on, people. Edit: Oh, I went with MakeToys Hound as well. I disliked the "W" on FT's engine block.

Please do seasons 3 and 4. Also, maybe do a IDW collection

I mostly agree with you. I like Badcube Sideswipe, that chest on Takara’s just looks wrong. Not trying to call you out or anything but in your review of Takara’s Shockwave didn’t you say he was the one going on your shelf? I love that we have options. I got not knowing FT would do one which will be replacing mine as well. Season 3 & 4 would be too much for me, would run out of room. I’m not one for buying place holders so how do you feel about buying without knowing if someone will ever make a much better figure.

Huh? But Rewind, Eject, Ratbat & Steeljaw weren't part of seasons 1&2...those were season 3. Nice to have them in advance, though. And I'll agree with you about the KFC "Transistor" (Blaster), the metallic does look much better. Sure, the flat one is more show & toy accurate...but after the gloriousness of the metallic version, it just looks fugly by comparison. I hope you do a similar list for seasons 3&4, and perhaps even the Japanese seasons from Choujin Masterforce & Victory (since I don't think that anybody's tackled Zone or Battlestars: Return of Convoy yet). And while I understand that it ain't your thing, I strongly doubt anyone else could do a similar, equally detailed, & equally informative listing for the CHUG scale collectors. (On the other hand, I think that a couple of MPs actually fit right in there with them, like Starsaber, for example...his super mode is on par with Combiners. And too bad Takara didn't finish the Dinobots to go with Grimlock; they *should* be bigger than most Autobots - Grimlock being taller than Optimus & Megatron.)

Not bad, skull looks fake though. For Devastator, I went with the Wei Jiang oversized version. Scales nicely in all three modes. Jim Bao is about the same size, with some better features.

I'm not going to lie, you do have great taste in transformers. give us seasons 3 and 4. Pls
