My favorite was the Hasbro Soundwave MP 02! With all the cassettes tapes and cubes made it the perfect release at $120. Megatron MP 36 was great as well.

Thanks for the tip on the KO of MP-36. IT-01 looks amazing, I just got a used MP-36 and it's pretty beat up, though all that was transparent beforehand. This seems like a great upgrade/replacement. Still anxious for XTB Virtus!

Yeah, the deluxe/toy/clear versions are why I have to try to remember to read more carefully before buying.

IT's Megatron has other points: it comes with another fusion cannon that has Mandarin and Frank Welker voice clips, and a back panel that covers the gaps on the back (apparently, not the same tolerance in the separately sold addon for the other companies). As for Soundwave, the KO that I got was an early version by THF which had ALL the cassettes bundled together in the same box. My copy is flawless, but THF now only sells Soundwave/Laserbeak together, with the rest as the Tape Corps. As for the combiners, all the Jinbao ones stand at 45cm, a little shorter than MP ones being done by DX9 / FT / Zeta, but still an affordable and good stand-ins. For Sixshot I have both Gcreations Fuuma and Dx9 Hanzo, Fuuma is bigger but more stylized, I also have Hexatron but he's a scale smaller than MP. For Galvatron, someone in TFW2005 painted Open & Play's Big Cannon and it looks very good, if you can look past the cannon placement, it's a good stand in.

I 1000% percent agree with you about getting figures that do not have the ecstatic . I like to view them like people we do not all come out the same cookie cutter LOL.

I have always had a fondness for the Deceptacon‘s. I mean autobots were cool and everything but as a little kid I wasn’t super excited about cars especially when most of them were ones that I already had just in a different color. However the Decepticons with their wide variety of options were far more appealing. All that being said now that I am an adult collector I have a far more nostalgic fondness for the Deceptacon and my collection consists mainly of masterpiece versions of my childhood toy collection. So mostly baddies LOL. I did go with the Takara masterpiece MP-36 Megatron. His aesthetic is beautiful, however I don’t know if it’s just my copy but his hips and feet are far too loose to get him in anything other than an A stance. I did end up getting the masterpiece leader throne for him though and omg it’s almost worth it that he can’t stand. I also have the Takara Soundwave however I cannot wait to see fans toys final product so far it looks like it puts Takaras to shame. Also after not being totally sure at first I did go in on the MMC tapes, and I’ll say this even if you have to go secondhand and pay more, like I had to for some, they are worth it. One thing though I totally wish they would come out with a cassette version of ratbat. I also have the MP-11 Starscream Thundercracker and Skywarp and I actually chose those over the maketoys version because I like that halfway between toy and cartoon aesthetic and those just looked like how I saw them in my head. For my last official masterpiece I have the MP 10 nemesis and shattered glass primes. At first when I heard they were coming out with a new version of Optimus I was kind of peeved because I need that would mean inevitable recolors but when I started seeing the third-party options and then the official release I was happy because even though they totally match the cartoon that wasn’t the picture I had in my head. As for the rest of the team I’ve got the DX9 blitzwing and Astrotrain and I love them both. I had the KFC version of blitzwing and even though he was a total nostalgic trip with the transformation being so like the G1 toy his robot mode frustrated me to no end. Sadly his legs were a floppy mess also like my G1 toy ha ha, honestly I could have done without that bit of nostalgia but I will say this for the KFC version his tank mode is gorgeous and for that reason alone he is still in my collection. I have the MMC Insectacons. I want the fanstoys but I missed the original release and I’m not trying to get them on the secondhand market I am sorry but paying upwards of $400 for one 6 inch figure is too much for me maybe if I was getting all three for that price I would do that and maybe if they rerelease them I would but for now the MMC versions are where I’m at. I got the KFC opticlones they look good but again KFC really needs to work on their joints, Even for such small figures they were a floppy mess and I had to take some floor polish to them just to get them to stand up and hold the weapons. Even after two frustrating experiences with KFC I gave them one last chance because I had to because they were the only ones who had the transformer I wanted so I got king gorilla who I also had to floor polish because his legs would not hold him up. I will say this though out of the three purchases I have made from KFC king gorilla is the best and currently he is the only option for that character so. I also have the master made destruction scorpion and Diabolus Rex standing on elevated platforms as my scorponok and trypticon. I wish diablos Rex was a little bigger but I like the look of the both of them. Also I did get the upgrade kit for destruction scorpion so he has not so much of a super deformed look. I also have toy worlds devastator and zeta toys Bruiticus for the combined modes and I’m getting X-transbots stunticons for the individual robots. I don’t know what it was with me as a kid but I never liked the menasor combine mode. Also just because I thought they looked super awesome I also got dna design susanoo who is another one that looks awesome but at least mine is such a floppy and he has so many parts that get in the way of his poseability. My other two are far better the perfect effects Mega Doragon and nemesis gorilla. I was never a fan beast wars or beast machines or any of those beast transformers shows but when I saw those two I had to have them. They are some of my favorites even though I never had them as a child and have no nostalgic connection to them whatsoever.

Yeah I like the silvery sheen and red inner lower legs best on the Magten, unfortunately mine has super floppy joints. The IT I got had tight joints. Wish I hadn’t paid the premium for the official.

I have the Jinbao KO Gravity Builder with the upgrade parts and boy is it impressive. I've been waiting for the Toyworld TW-C07D Constructor (the orange clear version) for about 2 years now but I don't know if it would still be released. A lot of different versions of Constructor have come after it but there haven't been any news/updates for TW-C07D since its initial offer.

As far as the stackers go, the 14-15 in stackers are perfect if you take into account the titans that are 22-25 inches and the coming unicron!

Ted Bundy I have the MP-36 upgrade face kit. It’s the same color face as Takara MP-36, with light up eyes.

I agree with the cone heads. Like Megatron once said. They're supposed to be the most powerful jets in the galaxy and they get beat by Powerglide. And to me. They should be the upgrade to the seekers. Them being bigger makes them stick out well. And I'm liking the size with the Fanstoys.

Really enjoyed the video. Dragging this up from the past a little. I have the Soundwave set, but currently missing Ratbat. What would be the best way to get ahold of this model without buying Soundblaster. Cheers

I would try to get one of the KO versions if they are still available

Infinite Transformation Megatron KO...I don't have loose joints, but I think that a couple of the rivets/screws were too short; one in the right foot is apt to fall out, and the one in the arm (where the gun safety is) also falls out easily...and I recently lost that piece, so gun mode no longer has the safety on it and kinda looks dumb without it since the rotating part was similar to a ratchet joint. Hasbro also did Soundwave and his Minions in a clear plastic with gray plastic & bronze paint in their Platinum Edition (Year of the Goat, alongside a similarly clear & gray with bronze G2 Laser Optimus Prime)...which is one set that I can't possibly recommend at all, as that thing is definitely more for display than for play. As for the Takara Soundwave, I've heard nothing but negative things about the reissues...wouldn't be surprised if they used the same crappy plastics as the Hasbro YotG one. If I wanted to replace it, I'd take a gamble on the Toy House Factory Soundwave...I think that's the one with both chest windows blacked out. Fancy Cell Toys "Transportation Captain" was fairly pricey, but so was pretty much everything else in the third-party CHUG space. MMC's CHUG size Azalea mold? The majority of the uses ran about $60-80, while exclusives ran afoul of $100; Maketoys Giant Type-61 ("Green Giant", as fans call it) still runs about $250-300, their Battle Tanker trailer for Hasbro's Reveal the Shield Laser Optimus still runs about $120-150 with the full set (that includes their own version of Laser Optimus, retooled from their Zeta Prime "Hypernovae") going about $180-220. XTB/KFC Menasor looks great, but it worries me. Their Motormaster "Gravestone" had a plastic component in the waist that seems flimsy and potentially break bait. I'm shocked you didn't mention that Transform Mission (Generation Toy?) IDW styled Menasor. Speaking of stylized, there's the Jinbao oversized KOs of Warbotron Bruticus, Generation Toy "Gravity Builder" Devastator, & MMC Feral & Nero Rex (yeah, no idea why Jinbao did both versions). Also, Wei Jiang's PotP Predaking KO...if you like that thing. ...it's "Ordin", not Orion. 😆😆😆 But none of the Unique Toys Combiners and none of the (pretty bad) TFC Combiners were meant to be MP, those are CHUG. Same with Maketoys Combiners. Similarly, the Toyworld/Zeta "Dinokong" ain't meant to be MP...probably fits with their really old stuff like their CHUG scale peeps. ("Orion"/"Orionvil", "Hegemon", etc.) Fansproject Dinoking/Monstructor (they got both versions covered, eh?): The Dinoking color scheme version, "Saurus Ryu-oh", based on the Dinoforce from Transformers Victory, came first...rumor has it that doing the Dinosaur Pretender Shells was such a financial flop that it doomed Fansproject. Anyway, funny thing is that because the G1 WAS so tiny, a CHUG size one actually could pass as MP...if you stick to G1 toy scaling. Then again, I'd need to see the Dinoking version side to side or face to face with MP24 Starsaber...because Dinoking & Liokaiser weren't too much shorter than Starsaber in the anime. ...why are the Monsterbots listed among the DECEPTICONS??? 😆😆😆 Anyway, the Seekers. Maketoys has the best looking versions in both modes. But y'know what is perhaps just as difficult to find? The MP11 mold KOs by both KuBianBao (used the Hasbro toy color schemes) & Yes Model/BB7 (used the Takara anime color schemes). Those actually improved upon the base mold. The biggest thing is perhaps the smallest change: the tab that connects the torso in robot mode is longer on the KOs, thus doing a far better job of locking it into place. No more floppy chest when you try to move the arms!! As for the Coneheads, I think that the KuBianBao KOs were based on the Toyworld Coneheads, whereas the Yes Model ones were apparently based on the old iGear modified MP03 mold.

That's a UUNIQUE TOYS Octane. Love the figure. Very robust, solid plastic, and fun To transform.

The seekers really need a sleeker/slimmer design, someone yet to really nail them version that makes me say "That's Starscream"

Sorry if you addressed this but I missed it, but with the combiners, a distinction should be made between Masterpiece-sized individual bots & the combined form. For example, I have the Unique Toys Terrorcons and the MMC Predacons. I think the individual bots are definitely MP size.

When you consider that companies keep pumping out Seekers, Coneheads, Reflectors, Stunticons, etc, it's actually not surprising that there's only one Scourge offering (Xtransbots).

So I've rewatched this vid twice now and I had no idea there was an upgrade kit coming for the potp predaking to make him taller

I think that MMC "Terminus Hexatron" is likely meant to go with CHUG than MP.

Oddly enough, the Octane on the right is not Maketoys, it's Unique Toys. Which is if I recall correctly the same ownership group that owns/owned DX9

Damn brother, I wish you would have made this video two years ago it would have saved me about $3,000 in wrong figure buys. because he can't just go to the toy store and actually see these figures in person, and I didn't know a lot of channels like this existed then, I pretty much screwed myself. As I went on no I got a lot more educated and eventually was able to get almost everything worked out. My advice to new buyers is watch at least three or four reviews on each figures that you were thinking about buying and always and I stress always! Make sure you see a comparison! if the video you're watching and this guy does a good job but doesn't do a lot of those, but keep searching for videos till you see somebody do a comparison with the figure you're wanting standing at least next to Megatron or mp10. Emgo and Bobby skull-face are pretty good for that.

And target masters; battle chargers; sharkticons; clones; ???

Cang toys predaking is going to be the same size as Toyworlds devy or bigger.

This is how I would kit out my Decepticons. As of now with figures that already exist and can be bought. Megatron - MP36 Soundwave - MP13 Shockwave - MP29+ Seekers and Coneheads - Maketoys 100% Tapes, Insectacons and Refllector - Takara, MMC, KFC Blitzwing - KFC Astrotrain - Fanstoys Octane - Maketoys Devastator, Bruticus, and Menasor - Toyworld, Zeta, X Transbots Six Shot - Fanstoys Galvatron, Scourge and Cyclonus - Fanstoys, X Transbots, Fanstoys The rest I don't really care about much, so I wouldn't buy

I have the KFC Horrorcons they are great. The FH Monsterbots are awesome but they are autobots LOL.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT! SHOCKWAVE IS THE REAL SECOND IN COMMAND! Starscream was just an opportunist who were taking advantage since Shockwave was not around!!! I own the Lavender Shockwave and the Cloud - 9, I got him for $65, I just saw it at Ebay... I HAD TO GET IT it was no brainer!!!

There has yet to be a KO of any Fanstoys but there is a first time for everything. Now Fanstoys has not done one of their limited reissues of Hydra yet so that may be coming one year. Thanks

I think combiners should be about 18 inches. I don't think they should get to city size bots.

Badcube insecticons, sry, but are not good. MMC weight and feel - much better. But better transformations via Bad cube. I have both and could never afford fans toys.
