This is why i love cacti so much. So many different types, shapes, spine patterns, colors, traits.... but then every spring you get rewarded with special surprises like flowers. But then when youve put in the time and love, you get rewarded with pups that you can gift your friends or family, and if the genes have the writing, offsets reaching out like arms, like with your Stetsonia and Saguaro!! Very cool....

Interesting that the direction of light is a big factor for cacti buds as well. I know its risky to move orchids in bud because it can result in bud blast. So, that is something that also comes into play with cacti? Have a cozy Friday evening, Lyn ❤

Nice Saguaro. I got some seeds recently and now have ~10 seedlings (maybe more are coming). Let's see how they'll do for the rest of the year.

You mentioned positioning one of yours facing the same direction facing the sun when you took it out to the tunnel. I have a gymno that is on the last of three flowers, but it had 5 more buds which do NOT seem to be developing. It is in a sunny window and I am in the habit of turning my pots on a regular basis. Could that affect flower bud development ? It had shriveled some over winter but has plumped up again since I started watering more frequently. Could I have left it too dry in between waterings and that caused the last 5 buds from developing further. I am perplexed..................

Hi William :-D thats wonderful your Gymno has been blooming and you have 5 more buds, yes I have noticed that cacti can be very sensitive when developing buds to changes, in the past I have moved cacti around that are in the windows and they have often dropped buds or the buds die back, the buds can also stop if the cactus has been kept a bit too dry too, I notice my Gymnos and my Echinopsis are very sensitive to this, I hope the buds continue growing for you, sometimes buds can slow down and sit still for a bit and then suddenly start to grow again, thanks so much William for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
