CPS has there old reliable fail proof answer “This one slipped through the cracks” but once these workers start being held accountable. Then they will STOP USING THIS FAIL PROOF EXCUSE! Until then nothing will ever change! CPS has no problem going after a low income family of color and make them jump through excessive hoops especially if drugs or alcohol is involved. Let’s not forget CPS IS monetarily driven either. There no different than GANG ORGANIZATION IMO!

CPS’ problem isn’t about being overwhelmed with cases. Their root problem is that they’re underwhelmed, zero motivation. Hiring standards need to change. They require speaking Spanish, but they don’t require much else in terms of aptitude towards this field’s needs, e.g., level-headed high achievers with investigative skills & w/ a educational background in abnormal psychology. Bunch of bureaucrats, pencil pushers won’t protect nor save victims.

I am so sick of hearing about how being abused automatically gives an abuser a green light... I was somewhat abused as a child and that made me want to love my children so much more so that they never experienced what I did. The Defense keeps saying "we are not using this or that as an excuse" so what are you doing by bringing up those things? and just because someone decides to have sex at an early age and have children doesn't give them the right to abuse the children - many mothers were young when they had their children and raised them without abusing them... I HATE child abusers!

DCF NEEDS to be held accountable as well, the ones who don't do their jobs correctly ,not only need firing but need jail time as well it's about culpability.A DCF worker has the power to visit unannounced, check the children for bruises & weight loss & be trained enough to spot if a child is terrified to speak in front of the parents the DCF goes and TELLS the parents what the kids said. Then what pisses us off more , is the dcf have power to stop these things from happening. In some states there are fosters who don't need the full training like EVERY FOSTER SHOULD GO THROUGH. & I'm sick of hearing dcfs excuses about oh we can't find the families. Well they are on welfare so you can find them. Idw hear excuses I'm done seeing dead kids every single time DCF doesn't do THEIR JOB. And having a report that a child is so under weight she's failure to thrive ? No she's being starved... There are thousands of people who DESPERATELY want children & cannot have them for w/e reasons. They try to become fosters and their lives are quite literally DISECTED by the powers that be . & Are STILL wanting to foster . Yet the DCF. Will put kids in homes that there is ABSOLUTE ABUSE & yet when said child is killed EVERYONE is like " oh no I had no idea ,we never saw that, cause DCF never did their jobs.

I agree, but according to an online article in the San Antonio Express-News, the lighter 45-year sentence was a plea deal in exchange for testimony against the boyfriend, Jose Ruiz. Monsters who force a child to eat feces, drink urine and hold heavy objects for hours; place thumbtacks in the bottom of her little feet; and bind her to a pole, crucifix-style, for hours on end simply cannot be punished long enough or slow enough. Here in Texas, a murderer can get the death penalty for killing a child under the age of 15, but the boyfriend WAS NOT CHARGED WITH MURDER. Another San Antonio Express-News article states that a jury took only 45 minutes in March to find the boyfriend guilty of seven counts of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury and a single count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. NOT MURDER. It's INSANE!!!! The evidence was there: he recorded his torture of that baby with his cellphone and on Ring cameras in a closet where they put her for "timeouts." The mother, BTW, pleaded to a single count of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. SMH.

Also, they're much less likely to receive DP than a man would for the exact same crime. (They also get let off for making false r@pe claims, even after wasting tons of LE resources and time.)

You are NOT wrong. Murder of a child under the age of 15 is a capital offense here in Texas -- so, yes, they should be on death row. HOWEVER, an article in the San Antonio Express-News states that a jury took only 45 minutes in March to find the boyfriend, Jose Ruiz, guilty of seven counts of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury and a single count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. NOT MURDER. It's INSANE!!!! The mother pleaded guilty to a single count of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, in exchange for testimony against the boyfriend, so that she could avoid a possible life sentence. This all simply reeks!!!

45 years for torturing a 5 year old to death is NOT justice! She should've either gotten the death penalty or LIFE without the possibility of parole. I live in West Michigan and a mother and her 20 year old son were recently sentenced for the death of her 15 year old autistic son. The mother would instruct the 20 year old son to carry out what she called "punishments" throughout the day while she was at work and some of these so called punishments included- forcing him to eat bread soaked in hot sauce made from two of the hottest peppers in the world, sitting in ice baths for an extended period of time, doing "wall sits" for hours at a time with no clothes on, in a cold garage, forcing him to throw up by sticking a toothbrush down his throat if he was caught "sneaking food" and the list goes on and on. He was forced to sleep chained up in a closet on a tarp with motion detectors and cameras on him at all times and there were also cameras throughout the whole house and locks on the refrigerator and pantry doors. Fast forward to the day his poor little body just couldn't take any more abuse, he was forced to sit in an ice bath for 9 hours the day he died and while he was dying the momster was heard on camera calling him a dummy and telling him he didn't need his mouth open to breathe. The cause of death was starvation and hypothermia. He was 15 years old and weighed 69 pounds when he died. There were literally thousands of text msgs between the mom and 20 year old over a 6 month period. The mom was sentenced to LIFE without parole for open murder and 50-100 years for 1st degree child abuse. She has to serve the 50 years before her LIFE sentence even begins, so she'll most likely die of old age before her life sentence even begins! The son was convicted of 1st degree child abuse and was sentenced to 30-100 years! Mother-count 1-50-100 years Count 2-LIFE Son-30-100 years Now, that's what you call JUSTICE! If you're interested in learning more about the case, their names are Shanda Vander Ark and Paul Ferguson, from Norton Shores, Michigan KZread creators 'Zav Girl' and AG Tactical, both have extended bonus coverage on their channels that includes, jail phone calls, all of the text messages, and much more.

I can’t stop laughing at the fact that she thought if she threw everything on Jose that the was gonna get off easy and not get any time. I watched Jose’s whole trial and the fact that she threw everything on him was ridiculous she was with him for “3 weeks” but yet she had CPS cases of abuse and neglect before she even meet him shows everything. Shows that she wasn’t a good mother and even more horrible for bringing in a man that did nothing but make it worse and doing what she was doing to Mercedes. So sad that little girl didn’t not deserve this hearing her voice crying in Jose’s trial literally took me I don’t understand how parents can do this to sweet innocent children and to her poor sister that saw everything and Katrina still denied it and said she was lying when Jordan saw everything she was there. May that angel rest in peace! 😞💖

We see this time and time again, they are trained to look out for signs of abuse, but even though they had been investigating since 2018 the spotted the lack of thriving and physical abuse, but didn't follow up. Then in 21 physical abuse again, still the girls were left with their abusers. Disgusting, CPS need to be made answerable as do courts for allowing this behaviour to thrive, it happens to often. She thinks the girls are happy bonded sisters from pictures.... really ! The mother deserves everything she gets for the rest of her life, hopefully behind bars. Dammit she completed parenting classes, she got more support than her girls !

Regardless if she thought such abuse wouldn't end in death is the dumbest statement ever! The child was still being injured and hurt - THAT should mean something- it wasn't enough that she didn't like the child and would let her go to other places - she kept her close to be abused! I don't care how diminished she is - even animal instinct tells you to not let your babies be hurt.

Listen here! I have multiple sclerosis, I have ptsd & an anxiety disorder from a very traumatic childhood, and I was even kidnapped at 18 years old. At 21, I had 2 daughters, 11 months apart. My husband left right before the second was born, and my mum died a month later. Then, my second was born weeks later. So as i was having my second c-section, i was all alone, and my birth partner (mum) wasn't there. I had an acquaintance with me. My dad watched my first daughter, but he was grieving for his wife, so straight after, i was all alone with 2 little kids. I was all alone for the next 2-3 years. Even after, i had ZERO help from anyone. Had no family or close friends. My daughters are now 13 & 14, happy, healthy, thriving young girls. I never ever laid hands on them, let them go hungry or neglected them in any way! NO EXCUSES!
