As a newcomer, the hardest part of the game was the first week. Especially choosing a weapon. It's so slow and confusing at first, but when you find your weapon, it goes down hill from there. When you figure out how to capture monsters and learn the crafting system and armor upgrades, it gets better, new monsters become larger and harder. I legit stopped playing cod, gears and other shooter games to grind out hours in this masterpiece. 9.5 out of 10

I really recommend this one. To all newcomers, don't rush. Move at your own pace, learn the movements of the monsters, be patient. Yes, there's a time limit but 50 minutes is plenty enough to take down 3-4 large monsters. Choose the gear you're most comfortable with and grow on that. Don't think of it as an action-packed game but more of a rhythm game. Time your dodges, your great sword charges and even your item management. I swear, if you'll get the hang of this game, nothing is more rewarding than going on a successful hunt you carefully planned with. Enjoy!

50 minutes time limit? Can I walk around in the world without this time limit? I want to hunt, but I would also love to just walk around in the forests and mountains, just enjoying nature. I used to walk around in the world of Skyrim a lot, just listening to the birds singing, the water flowing, the wind blowing, just watch how the trees move while the wind blows through them. Now I want to play Monster Hunter World and would love to enjoy the nature in this world as well. Is it possible? Or I am limited to 50 minutes to walk around while doing nothing but listening to birds singing, water flowing, etc.?

@@jimwelmh1421 Well first of all, tempered monsters minus deviljho, lunastra, behemoth, leshen, and the arch tempereds were already in the base game once you finished the main story. The cracked version that I got was world updated as of march 2019, which includes all the free title updates up to that time, minus certain events. This meant that I was able to fight all the available tempereds (odo, legiana, etc) including deviljho and lunastra. So for me to get all the events for the arch tempereds, ancient leshen and extremoth, I modded them in via nexusmods. This gave me all the arch tempered events, the ancient leshen and extremoth events and a few more goodies. That's how I still managed to get a taste of the hardest difficulty mhw had to offer with the cracked version. Hope this clears things up for you😁

  • @WisdomAkpan211

@@jimwelmh1421 To fight tempered monsters all you have to do is go on expeditions, find blue tracks of any monster and do that until you get investigations. Starting off though, you want to get many investigations so your first few investigations isnt necessarily to fight the monster initially, but walk behind it for about like 20 minutes to accumulate more investigations which can also give you other monster tempered investigations (works just like regular investigations) That's how you grow your tempered investigations for monsters. Arekkz made a good video about it. Just search "how to get tempered monster investigations" and find Arekkz. I cant believe you haven't fought tempered monsters yet😅

Why force someone that isnt interested in grinding to keep playing? I understand the love of the game but if after a few hours you still dont enjoy the gameplay there is no reason to beg them to keep playing it even longer since you essentially just keep fighting more difficult monsters to get better gear and thats what makes up MH games. some people love that but others dont enjoy grinding and prefer storytelling. "a few hours" is more then enough time to see if you enjoy the direction game is going in.

I am a newcomer to the series and this game has made me fall in love with it. I've been looking for a game for so long with these quirks. you have to actively stratergise your hunt on the spot which is what I really love about games such as this one. I hate the fast combat of shadow of war where the fight is over in 2 seconds. In Monster hunter world you have to study the monster you are hunting before going in for the kill which is what the middle earth series tried to do but failed

As a fan since 3-Ult, I like World. It has a lot of "Quality of Life" improvements, and I understand that; porting, improving graphics, removing segments from areas, adding Turf Wars, mantles, pets, all the countless stuff in World that greatly adds on from the previous installments... but once you get to the endgame and past HR 49 (wish anyone new good luck), there isn't all that much to do except wait for the next monster patch or festival event. While Investigations do offer randomized quest possibilities, and Tempered monsters offer a somewhat new challenge & grind, the Monster roster's size in World becomes very evident by the endgame. World's Roster: 52 Monsters so far (both large and small) MH3U: 73 Total MH4U: 98 Total MHGen: 107 Total MHGU: 129 Total MHFrontier Z: 179 Total But I won't be an ignoramus and say "Capcom can do so much more", I understand the money and hardware limitations that goes into adding new assets to a game. So as a matter of opinion, World was more or less a test to see how well it would sell worldwide, and it greatly exceeded expectations. It's a good game, don't get me wrong. As of now, however, it's a small Monster Hunter World. I'd give it an 8/10

"Fans of the series might be a bit disappointed to see no new weapon types added." Hahahaha it's quite the opposite actually. All weapon types got new moves or mechanics added and most of the veteran players I know who only stuck to a few weapon types in previous game now find most if not all weapon types very fun and satisfying to play. There's no need to add another weapon types because they've polished every existing weapon to a sheen. Some people may be bummed out about the lack of oil on SnS or double note on HH but that's about it

To all the people that are saying its repetitive, did you ever play Diablo? World of Warcraft? Both of those games were revolutionary and all-time hits. Even Final Fantasy has a bit of a grindy element. The game's a gear grind. If you don't like that idea, then yeah don't buy it. But don't call it a shit game because you don't like the concept; MH games execute the gear grind concept pretty well. Want more of a challenge? Play through the game with only one set of gear, or one weapon, or completely unupgraded. Or do min-max shit like people in Dark Souls were doing with the no-armor RTSR boss oneshot kills and shit. If people can still play Dark Souls since Demon's Souls and not get bored then either you're looking at the game from the wrong angle or its simply not the type of game for you.

Great video! You totally nailed it when you said that it’s for specific players and after you let it get the hooks in you, it’s amazing. It took me a little while to get into the groove of it, but I’m so glad that I pushed through the initial frustration. I feel like monster Hunter world is a combination of the whole series in so if you’re coming in as a new player it can be daunting because of all of the many options in crafting items, but realizing that it’s all there because players have been playing for so long that the depth has just continued to dig, allow me to realize I need to take it slowly and eventually I’ll be glad that it’s all there and I am at the point now so keep pushing if you even slightly think this is the game for you because it’s amazing once you get through that initial hurdle

Suddenly your hunter is running away from a horde of herbivores clutching a boulder sized egg. It really was a wacky but fun tone shift from the usual find monster beat the shit out of it then kill or capture quests.

Combat is not clunky, it's realistic. You feel the weight of a weapon with every swing. So strategizing your attacks really makes a difference. Also being prepared makes a world of difference between a 40 minute hunt to a 10 minute hunt. Playing with friends makes the monster harder but it's more fun.

  • @Walamonga1313

Exactly. Heavy weapons are HEAVY so they are slow but they do a ton of damage and usually let you defend (or have hyper armour), while lighter weapons don't do as much damage but they are way faster and mobile. I like how "weighty" the game feels, it makes it more realistic and balanced than just swing a huge ass anime sword like it's nothing.

I had never heard of the monster hunter series before this one and now 500 hours in, i still play this game almost all the time. When you get too the end game the game really shines. When you start making builds, know the mechanics, grind for kulve taroth weapons, hunt arch-tempered elder dragons, start using different weapons. You can literally play this game forever and i aint joking about that. 9/10

Been playing Monster Hunter since Dos. To see we can now play the game with graphics better than the then-amazing cutscenes from 10 years ago - this franchise has really come a long way. One thing about this global release is that players outside of Japan are missing out on the back story or world information from the older games. There is a Monster Hunter Wikia in Japanese that includes the smallest detail of just about everything, and from what I've seen, nothing in English is comparable to it. This is a shame, and I hope there's a translation project going on somewhere on the Internet so that everyone in the world could share the same degree of immersion.

The term grind is usually seen as a chore. "Grinding" in this is not a chore. This game is so much more then that. The gameplay is rewarding and fun. The goal Isn't just to get better gear, It's also to learn and strategize. There is no visible exp bar, but the more you play the more IRL experience you get. That feeling is something no other game can capture the same way. If you're scared that you might have to think to play this, then look somewhere else. The monster hunter series is amazing, and this is the best yet.

If you don't like the combat, try one of the numerous other weapon types. each has its own feel. The methodical Great Sword where a lot of the time you are trying to find that perfect opening for a triple charged draw attack, to the Dual Blades flurries of hits in between quick dodges, to the Hunting Horn with it's combination of buffs and bludgeoning attacks, and even the Light and Heavy Bowguns that let you fight from a distance...

I wouldn't say that MH isn't a game everyone can enjoy. It's just a different style of action than people are used to, which is arguably much better and exceedingly more satisfying than most action RPGs. You can't just press the button to do the thing and expect it to get results. You have to actually be good at the game to win. If Dark Souls can find an audience in the west, then Monster Hunter really shouldn't have an issue.
