    In Smith vs Ozuna, Smith was not the first guy to get hit by his backswing. If it’s only one catcher, it’s the catcher but if multiple catchers are getting hit by the backswing, it’s on the hitter to adjust

  • @griffenberg

    @griffenberg

    Ай бұрын

    No it isn't, not getting hit by the backswing is entirely 100% on the catcher. Catchers setup in the front of the catchers box often going over the line out of the catchers box trying to get closer to the plate to frame pitches this is why we have seen a massive increase in catchers interfearence calls. it is the responsibility of the catcher to not get hit by the backswing as he has 2 some odd feet he can move back in the catchers box but he won't.

    I played as a catcher for several years and got smacked in the head by bats few times, including one kid I went to school with who threw it backwards towards me (hit me in shoulder but not hard). I wouldn’t say we were friends but we were good term acquaintances by the time we were in high school. One day he and I were talking and out of the blue he apologized to my surprise. When asked him what about, he said “for purposely throwing bat at you”. I just laughed because that was years before and I had forgotten all about it. In hindsight though I have to wonder how many times it was intentional to hit me by the others 😋🤷‍♂️

    In these situations they are the catchers fault. Its like rear endings its 98% your fault. Don't get so damn close.

    When the catcher stopped Carlos Gomez after the HR, isn’t that catcher interference?

    How can a catcher interfere with himself? (Just kiddin'.) Yes. That's interference.

    Yes. But it was a home run. What are they going to do? Award Gomez home?

    @@jetwestbrook Well... I'd imagine that the league has a rule for just that instance. The runner is entitled to have the base paths and the bases unblocked, after hitting a home run. If someone were to get in his way, and causing an event that would prevent him from doing so... I'm pretty sure the league would overlook an untouched base and award it to the runner. Could you imagine being able to force a runner out of the base path and off the field, whenever you felt like it? Now, that would be something to see. I think I'd pay to see that new rule change taking place. Albert Bell used to push the fielders out of his way, like a linebacker.

    Puig is a P UN K always fronted and stepped up and shoved but never picked up his hands unless the entire team was with him. Keep watching.

    Its funny to see the bullpens empty. Both groups run in side by side, the when tgey reach the scrum they oretend to face off. Like a pitcher, whose career depends on his hands, is going to throw a punch.

    Lmao Carlos Gomez out there swinging at his own teammates trying to restrain him... that guy always seemed unbalanced and hot headed.

    Not very smart to get into a tussle with a catcher in FULL GEAR...
