One of my biggest pet peeves is when people compare one singer to another. For example, one of my friends is always saying that "Dionne is not half the singer that Aretha Franklin is..." To which I always respond: "They're very different!" Besides, how can anyone not hear, feel, and appreciate Dionne's exquisite (even delicate) vocal tone. Every time I listen to Dionne I am transported to another place and time. And it's her uniquely beautiful voice that does that!

I heard that when Burt Bachrack first decided to make Miss Warwick a star he gave his friend Marlene Dietrich some money and told her to "do something with MIss Warwick. " So Miss Dietrich had some gowns made for Miss Warwick and had her hair styled and shaped. Hence Mr. Bachrack's new creation....Miss Dionne Warwick.

JACK ANTHONY I had not heard that, but it makes sense since Bacharach was Marlene Dietrich’s arranger and bandleader for her late touring years. Dionne Warwick had stunning and dramatic features and it would take somebody with Dietrich’s deep knowledge of lighting and makeup to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative for mid- to late 20th century popular tastes. Burt Bacharach is a very clever man with impeccable taste.

She was more of a crossover than Aretha. She was probably the highest paid female in the business 1967-1971 since she's the one who sold the most. In spite of that, her recording company at the time didn't keep track of the sales so no one knows the exact number. She truly was appreciated at the time!

I'm sure at least the IRS must have kept track of the sales. "Someone" knows the exact number of sales as that much money made does not go unclaimed by some dirty hands.

THEBROWNISLAND: Miss Warwick had her first hit in 1962...so her career actually goes back to the early 60's.
so lovely, so lovely .... have loved her all my life...saw her with Gladys in London just a few months ago...still fantastic..truly an icon.
legendary diva, i think she don't get enough credit for what she does!!
Beautiful voice, beautiful song, beautiful woman.
yes and that's why these songs still are around!
Dionne sounds great and I remember her when I was a kid watching her on the rock 'n roll shows. Her teeth was always a wreck back then and she had major work on them during her tv appearances but she kept on trucking. I can see Whitney in her when Whitney was a young girl just soaring with her song How Do I Know. Its called FAMILY BLOOD.
SHE IS THE WOMAN!.THANKYOU
Wow! It has been a long time since I have heard this Masterpiece... I have forgotten just how good this song is, with Dionne Warwick singing it...One of My favorite Female vocalists... She really put everything into it, and this is the result....
whenever I come across Dionee I can never help but hear and see Whitney-to-come
Before I was born, but I love this song so much - timeless...
QUEEN of POP!!!! LONG LIVE DIONNE...
Just seen the FABULOUS Ms Dionne Warwick in concert. she was in Manchester U.K. Also accompanied with Mary Wilson (Supremes), Roberta Flack, and the Drifters. Dionne looked STUNNING, and was amazing she will be 75 on Dec 12th.Do please do more concerts Dionne. It was an evening that I will cherish forever. All the artists were amazing, considering all the ages Mary 71, Roberta 78!!! Don't think many of today's artists will be singing well into their 70s ha.

It's impossible to sustain a 30+ year career these days music works 800% faster than the past. Instead of an 10 year era of staple music genre it changes every 2 years.
@laarbe AMEN!!! The so called "artists" of today cannot hold a candle to this lady!!! She's Queen of Solid Gold.
I was 5 when this song was hight in the pop charts.. : )

fabulous singer,dionne your great
Always loved this musical combination, artist, composer...since the '60's. Then one day, many, many years later, I was shopping in Nordstroms, Bellevue and suddenly 4 gigantic men come walking down the aisle and in the middle of them was this tiny woman draped in fur walking passed me. It was Miss Warwick! I nearly fainted...what a thrill. She was there promoting a fragrance or something. Good times!
Me encanta esta canción, la escucho desde los 17 años.... Gracias Dionne
Wonderful perfect
the words cant express enough the feelings of a love to another
Alguém do Brasil🇧🇷 ouvindo essa diva?

Divine and ethereal beauty in her music.....!!!!
Beautiful song...memories of innocent times...and ways.
She looks and sounds great in that "little black dress". Thanks for posting.
I love this song. I love you Dionne.
I heard this song about 18 months ago and couldn't get it out of my head; was unsure who sung it etc. Then I put sound hound on my android - hummed the catch line and hey presto, up it came. Still obsessed by the haunting quality of her voice. Thanks for posting.
Great music, great era, I remember it well. Oiyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I is gettin old. lol
