When you can combine two classic songs sung with the soul of the original voices, you cannot avoid the emotion of goosebumps & tears that naturally follow. A treasured duo ❤

Dionne Warwick and Smokey Robinson in a wonderful interwoven duet from 1986 holds up very well!!! The sound and video looked clear to me. Dionne Warwick looked stunning in her sparkly purple dress. She always looked good in purple, but then she always looked good, period. Smokey had his sparkly suit on and the song was a blend of then-oldies being introduced to a mostly young 1986 audience. That type of including classic oldies with the modern material is what made "Solid Gold" special in so many ways. Thanks for the upload from your musical Michael Miller Time Machine!!! Very well done.

@@bigeyezzzzzzz Thank you for mentioning me. I have not been A-OK, so that is why there have been no comments from me. I have experienced the tragic loss of my mother and I have some serious health issues myself. I have barely been online due to all of that. Thank you for your interest. That is more than from my own extended family. My immediate family is reduced to my sister, and she has a busy work schedule, but has trouble with solace to me, despite living together for a long time. I hope that my current health conditions improve. They are making grief for my mother difficult and hers was a very difficult death, especially how the medical system went. I am bereft with hardly any resources. Thank you so very much for your mention about me. That means a lot to me and could provide hope in my medical conditions, of which help is hard to come by due to my insurance and the condition itself.

@@jasonburger3533 Jason, I’m so sorry to hear about the difficult boss of your mother and your situation in general. It’s hard to comprehend why life often has to include pain. Why? What purpose does it serve? I guess that’s a question for a greater Being than me. In any case, I hope comfort and healing comes your way soon, because your presence brightens this planet greatly. 💙

Michael, you left a comment on an older video of this duet that you had to slow down the tape because Smokey Robinson wanted to sing in a lower key. That was an interesting fact and only accentuated your brilliant talent as the musical director!

My channel has plenty from Season 6, but unfortunately not everything. I was the Musical Director for SOLID GOLD and I wish I had kept all of my original master tapes rather than these low-quality over-the-air tapes, but alas, I only have what I have posted - and the quality is nowhere near what it could’ve been.

@@bigeyezzzzzzz These over-the-air tapes held up well with whatever restorative process is involved. On the subject of the master tapes, I wonder who might have gotten them and if they still exist. These old tapes, though, get the point across that "Solid Gold" was a work of art.

@nickfreshalive If an artist was singing live and they had their own band, there would be no reason for me to do an arrangement, but I did take the bands into A&M Records recording studios ahead of time to pre-record the tracks (because the audio on a TV stage in those days was never very good). So usually, when you see an artist with their own band onstage, the band members are usually miming, while the artist is singing live.
