The guy that played the teacher had a tragic end to his life. He ended up an alcoholic and was found dead in his home under suspicious circumstances. Terrible end to such a good actor. To this day no one has been charged with his murder. R.I.P. Barry Evans.

No Turkish in it. It was the Italian and the Greek men but as the show continues they became friends in the show, great program though. I still watch it now all the time never gets old

@@martindunstan8043yes they were both in love with the French lady until the Swedish lady came along lol. Then they moved into into a flat together, such a great program. I only know this as I have watched this over and over again I think I need to get out more lol 😂😂😂

This was a funny comedy programme .. remember it well

The show was binned as the producer of the channel felt it was too stereotypical and harmful. Ironically it was and still is very popular abroad, especially in the countries represented by the stereotyped characters.

Never put on tv now, I've just managed to get the box set of the series & just recently binge watched them, maybe it's not on tv now as it's not p.c anymore

I'm English and have lived in several different countries from childhood to adulthood and where I spoke nothing of the language to enough to manage ok in most situations. This programme reminds me of all the challenges of making a life and learning language and culture and the many hilarious situations, and occasionally stressful ones, I found myself in. Kind people, funny people, grumpy people, helpful and unhelpful people, and many conversations with others cobbled together and half translated, spoken and playing 'charades' with pointing and acting and drawing to communicate and get along and keep trying to learn the language, mangling my grammar and pronunciation. Politeness, a sense of humour and a smile go a very long way 😂

The copper was a teacher in Grange Hill.

It was a brilliamt programme in its day, sadly now it would be deemed as racist, even though it is really harmless comedy, the pc world has ruined the life I had.

That show is trash btw. Better sticking with Love Thy Neighbour.
