First one is a classic, the 2nd is a worthwhile sequel, the third one is a grossly underrated epic. My personal favorite of the three in fact.

When I first heard this song I was so hyped up about when he says "and you're unforgiven too" because I thought the play on words was so awesome. He says "unforgiven too" but the song name is Unforgiven II and that was just so awesome to me first hearing it. Great reaction btw!!

Seen another comment saying how Load and Reload (Metallica albums) are James Hetfields best albums vocally and i agree. I highly recommend listening to "The Outlaw Torn" which i think is the best song from both those albums. Anyway, great video

This is the first song I remember hearing by Metallica, and the song that got me into heavy Rock/Metal. I wasn't keen on heavier music before I heard this, but it was also around the same time I started playing guitar which I think has helped me gain a great appreciation for different genres of music. Glad you enjoyed this one too.

I remember how divisive these albums were when they came out, because its such an extreme departure from their classic sound..One reviewer said something to the effect of if any other rock band not named Metallica released these albums we'd be lauding them for their greatness...anyway, great review. Love this song. Oh,and that cover art ain't fire...it's called Piss & Blood XXVI. The cover art for Load ain't much better...it's cow blood and the artists semen mixed together between two pieces of plexiglass.....now you know that.

Ed Mackey yep 100% agree. Can remember buying this album and being like what in the hell is this crap. Now looking back on it I will say there are some good songs on load and reload. I think if they would’ve made it a one album release were the best songs from both albums on one it would be much better

Wished I liked the third one. I didn’t know there was a third one since I stopped listening after Jason Newstead left the band. I think this album is the last one of theirs I’ve heard. I really liked this album, against popular belief. King Nothing (actually that might be on the one before this, Load) and then Fixxxer and Outlaw Torn....all really good songs. Carpe Diem, Prince Charming. I realize how disjointed my statements are coming off in my excitement with you on your journey w Metallica

Hehe this is the better of the 2 albums (Load and Reload) from the era of Metallica that I have referred to as 'Alternica' because it was more 'Alternative' music than their original Thrash 'Metal' sound. This is not meant as an insult.. just as a harsh evaluation of the truth as I saw it at the time. The music was good.. just not what we had come to expect from Metallica up to that point. They lost a large number of hardcore fans from the 80's when they did these 2 albums.. but they picked up plenty of new fans to replace them so it did not bother the band in the least. They still sold out arenas wherever they went. Where they nearly lost me was when they took down Napster back in the early 2000's. Sharing their music was how they got so big in the first place.. so that was like biting the hand that feeds (in my opinion.) I do understand now, however, that record labels that sign new bands that do not have followings have to outlay a bunch of money to prop up those new bands until they gain enough traction to sell seats at venues where the real money is.. and without record sales those labels will have nothing to prop up the new bands with. Luckily KZread came along and a happy medium was reached.. the music can be listened to freely by anyone.. the bands/labels get money, and the fanbase for worthy bands can grow.. so I have since forgiven their transgression (not that it matters to them.. just to me) and have allowed myself to buy their albums again ever since.

Napster was a much much different beast than the underground tape trading of old. It’s reach was massive and it was destroying new artists, as you said. That’s not why they went after Napster though, it was about control. They were and probably still are, control freaks, when it comes to their music. They own their own catalogue, and wanted full control over it. Napster took that away from them. It wasn’t about money, like so many think it was, they have all the money they need and if they wanted more, all they have to do is tour and it will pour in. Bands make nearly nothing from album sales anyway. It was a very large misunderstanding between their motives and what fans thought it was about. The letters threatening lawsuits they sent to all of the downloaders of their music was a major dick move though. I also loved this time period of their music. I am a metal head through and through, but I understood that they do what they want and to just keep doing the same shit over and over is just boring as hell. I’m glad they went back closer to their roots with the last two albums though, it’s nice to see. People try to say they never would have gone “CountryTallica” if Cliff hadn’t died, and I say bullshit. Cliff had diverse music tastes and there’s no telling where he may have wanted the band to go.

@@clonexx Agreed. I was definitely horrified that they actually threatened to sue the downloaders. I mean.. I can understand if the suit was to cover the cost of the purchase of the entire CD/Album from which the individual song(s) came from but the amounts they were asking for in the threatened lawsuits was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars in some cases.. (at least to my recollection.) In either case I stopped supporting them from the time I learned they were going after Napster until the release of Hardwired. I saw that they produced low-budget quickie videos for each song which did not have the higher-production 'made for MTv' type videos and posted the entire album to KZread in that format for anyone to listen and watch for free (with ads, of course) which is 100% on the up-and-up in my book. In the end their action against Napster did help drive new technologies and I imagine it helped to give rise to what KZread is today in regards to music.. so it all worked out in the end.. it was just a bloody mess getting to here lol.

🙂 ok The song is pretty good. I will have to admit. There are some good songs on the load album. But I will never forget how disappointed and angry I was when I got this album when I was 18. And going to the music store to get the album and get it back home. turning on this album and I was like wtf is this crap. Can remember taking the cd out and snapping it in half and stomping on it. LOL

They did the best they could without Cliff. To me, it will always come down to his death, and the effect it had on the rest of the band. I don’t believe under his influence they ever would have gone in this direction. For better and for worse.
