I remember getting this CD when I was 11 years old, without knowing much about Metallica. This song was basically on repeat, now I'm 37, and every time I hear Unforgiven II it feels like the first time.

Part II is the best of the three for me. Fuckin love this song. James voice on this one is sublime.

Man I love your reaction to this. Everyone’s like, they sold out, this is no where near as good as their old stuff. But I’m like, if you’d never heard their old stuff, you’d know this was a fantastic rock song. Take it on its own merits, ya know? Anyway, ya’ll are the best reactors I’ve seen in so long. yep its still James on vocals he changed how he sings cause he strained his voice during the black album tour so for Load and Reload they tuned down their guitars cause he couldnt hit the higher registers anymore and he had to retrain his voice

Not true. James took voice lessons before and after Black Album to become more of a natural singer. He also practiced his picking technique on acustic guitar. James is a huge country fan and this was the music he wanted to do. James was in his early 20:s when they made their first albums. Here he had become a man.

@@korvkioskshelvete He also blew out his voice while recording So What. The 3 years of near-constant didn't help either but hey, thats how it is when you're on top. I'm not as angry about as some of the die-hards, shit happens. I'm more impressed Metallica are still going strong 25 years later!

@@mrdfk9410 Yeah, but straining your voice is only temporary. You’ll get back to normal after a few week of rest and drinking hot honey tea. Not even the most brutal death core growling or Mariah Carey glass shattering high notes will damage your vocal cords permanently. But straining your voice over and over will make you practice your singing more and therefore improve your vocal skills. James became a better singer and musican with time. Sure, age and drinking has impacted his voice in a bad way, but in the 90:s and early 00:s he was in his prime. Just imagine ”Kill ém All”-James sing a song like ”Low Mans Lyric”...

Been a Metallica fan for 30+ years listening to people interpret their music and his lyrics. You guys are my favorite. On point in so many ways. Glad I joined the family and defiantly look forward to all your other inputs.

They started Metallica back in 1981, and are still pumping out albums, their latest being in 2016. The Unforgiven was released in 1992, Unforgiven 2 in 1997, and Unforgiven 3 in 2008.

Just wanna say - I'm in my 30s and I grew up listening to this as a teenager, and your reaction is exactly the same as mine was 20 years ago. Almost every single track is a mind blower. And what's funny is that you guys are just reacting to the lyrics, but I grew up as a rock fan who played guitar, bass, and some drums, and it's 10x more mind blowing if you realize how insanely good they are at the music side of this. Most modern musicians you'll see on the charts have entire companies full of staff helping them to try to do things these guys did literally in their garage with their shirts off drinking beer. The crazy thing is how well Metallica's music relates to everyone regardless of context. When I was 16 this music resonated so much with teenage BS, but now as an adult with kids who votes, and after having been in the military, it resonates even harder in a completely different way. That's real music!

I love how most people dont even realize that instrumental parts of the first unforgiven is written into this song making it so much more of a trilogy and how important the first and second song’s are intertwined

Hard core metal fans only liked metallica until the 1991 black album, so they say anything after that sucks because metallica lightened up their music some but it's still real good. Especially anything off of the load and reload albums. Great reaction!
