There are aspects of obvious veridicality to that; this Album is awarded some kind of distinction that thus describes it as of cultural and historical significance. This isn't radiomusic to say the least, and how many lives it's saved is becoming increasingly comprehensible. Without madness there is no genius. 🍻

"Sanitarium" is the old name for "psychiatric hospital". I've had about five stays, and this song has been a mainstay because of those experiences. One band you should check out that deals with these themes is Suicidal Tendencies. Songs by them that are good starting points: "Trip at the Brain", "Nobody Hears", and "Institutionalized".
