The black album is when the sucketh began, a couple coutryallica albums, then peaked at St Anger and got back to normal with Hardwired.

This album was groundbreaking and went platinum with basically no radio play. Every song on this album is good.

I thought they Atleast played "Master Of Puppets" on the radio, I remember hearing it a few times but it was shortened by a minute, cause the snipped out certain instrumental parts It was part of the reason I wanted the album. Also with the song "Thing that should not be" I remember hearing that Live on the "Unforgiven 2" single tape

I've thought about this, which naturally leads me into the thought of...I wonder how many unbelievable musicians are out there that we'll never hear....like, you know there are some phenomenal peeps out there that will just never be heard.

This era of Metallica is incredible but makes me sad at the same time. Just crazy how Cliff Burton never really got to peak musically but was still able to partake in these masterpieces before he left us.. still makes you think about what could’ve been

Completely, utterly agree. A little over twenty years ago I visited my brother, who was stationed in Seoul, Korea. We went to this huge bar, and the music was LOUD. What song did I request? You guessed it, Leper Messiah. It was incredible, and the memory is burned into my brain.. louder and clearer than seeing them in concert, which I’ve been fortunate to be part of five times.

Everyone loves Master of Puppets, but Welcome Home Sanitarium is my absolute favorite song from that album.

You said to share something about yourself IF YOU'RE BRAVE enough. Ok Alex... I am an alcoholic in recovery for many years BUT while in active addiction I received 2 DUI'S in 11 months & spent 64 days in jail - along with losing my license for 5 years, 1 year in rehab, & the list goes on. I deserved that without question. The only reason I chose to share that in particular is because when you read the lyrics about longing to be on the outside & remembering what it was like - I felt that a million times in jail. When I hear this song that part always takes me back to a place I will never, ever - one day at a time - go to again. ✌🎵❤

This was actually the very first Metallica song I ever heard. It was right after the Master of Puppets album came out, I was 11 years old, and in an Adolescent Psych Hospital at the time (I was there because of a seizure disorder which the staff lied to us about). This song became the anthem for every kid in that place.

This song is hauntingly beautiful. It pulls those dipressed feelings so hard yet those beautiful melodies just make you so calm. This song is seriously masterpiece.

Have to disagree there. Hetfield's voice is not the same and Hammett makes a ton of mistakes live, while Lars is sloppy and Cliff is gone. Plus the song is played in a different tuning live so the magic of the original recording is simply not there live.

This song really connected to alot of us who were in our midteens when it came out. Being a metalhead at the time ( for alot of us were I grew up) meant that you were looked at as a crazy, drug abusing, trouble maker, who had no purpose in society, it truly was a different time. Songs like this connected us as a group because it made us feel as if people understood how trapped we felt.

Yep, that's all too true unfortunately. Being into metal back then was frowned upon for some funny reason. I was that social outcast, even the school I went to pushed me away. Hell, my own mother used to throw me out of the house because of my hair!

My childhood was full of master/justice. They will always hold a place in this metal heart.

“Holy shit! What a good fucking band, dude.” Yep yep yep. They’re amazing.

My adoptive parents put me in 5 of these as a kid in the 1980's, before finally kicking me out at 15. THIS song was the 1st Metallica song I ever heard, in 1986. After just being in the 2nd one for 10 months. I credit it for my teenage self not committing suicide! ALL of it resonates, almost too well, I'm crying now. I still have PTSD, among other things. Thank you Metallica, music in general, and you, Alex, for your great reaction to it. :)

The entire album is a masterpiece.

When you said at 6:38, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions,” it made me think of a scene in an episode of Blue Bloods a few years back when that quote was mentioned & met with the response of, “The road to heaven is paved with those same stones.” “What tangled webs we weave.....”

I went to a county fair one time when i was a teen. Some friends and I road the tilt a whirl and during our ride they were playing this song! Jammin while going in circles!

Ahh...those early masterpieces from this legendary band...how I love being a teenager in the '80s!!

every song on justice is awesome! to live is to die is my favorite metallica song and blackened is my 3rd fav. the rest of the album is amazing too. i have often been described as overly critical, and i can't think of any weak tracks on justice. it's the pinnacle of metallica's discography.

Ever since I used their music to keep my own sanity when unfortunate events caused the state to take me and my little sister away from our parents, I never found another band that would help me through such dark and hard times in my life. That was 13 years ago and ever since, I promised myself I will see them live before they retire. Still haven't, for one reason or another and now with covid, I doubt I'll ever get to keep that promise with myself so I've grown to accept it and settle for recordings of their live performances lol. But I love how people like yourself are still just discovering them and some of their greatest hits after all these years. It's awesome seeing that sense of enjoyment people give when reacting to these tracks for the first time.

Dude!!! I remember hearing this for the first time when I was a kid, it was instantly my favorite song in the album!! The 80’s were an awesome time to be alive!! We had the best music ever!!

This is and has been my favorite Metallica track since 1986. Never gets the credit it deserves, just an amazing song.

So... This song has special meaning for me. I was really, really into metallica back in the late 80s early 90s, and learning guitar. I was at my grandma's house one day and my uncle James was there playing guitar. Now, I didn't see a lot of James. He was constantly in and out of mental institutions. He taught me riffs from this song and then two days later, my aunt found him hanging from the tree in their back yard from his guitar strap. I know that's harsh to hear, but it's what happened. Ever since, the song has been a close favorite while being very dark. Lots of memories and feelings.

From a 50 year old Gen X man you are one of favorite reactors! After a fucked off day your reactions always lifts me up! I love that you're enjoying the music I grew up with, I'm hoping if we get enough people like yourself to appreciate it too, maybe great music will make a come back! You're much appreciated!

Bullet For My Valentine did a killer cover of this song. Highly recommend checking it out as well. edit: I just have to comment on the end of this song. It's like a descent into madness. so perfect.

One of the most memorable concerts ever when they opened for Ozzy in '86.

Had the honour of doing the intro for a full band, full album cover. One of the most beautiful solos ever written in my opinion. Pure magic.

My buds and I used to Jam this on the way to the Northville Tunnels (Old Mental Health complex in Northville MI) on the weekends back in 89/90.. It Was Epic... Middle of the night - hiding from cops, ducking in and out of the old buildings... and then Rocking OUT on the way home again...

Disposable Heros on deck! Some argue, the best song on the album, & that is seriously f***ing saying something, as this album is a f***ing masterpiece!

My first taste of Metallica was Battery. It was like that first shot of heroin or that first blast off a crack pipe. I was hooked for rest of existence. I love seeing the reaction I must have had then.

This album was actually my first CD, bought with the birthday check from my grandparents after my parents had got me the player. Metallica was also the first (and only) band I ever slept out to get concert tickets for (2 x Wherever We May Roam Tour, and then for the stadium tour with Guns N' Roses).

This is actually my favorite Metallica song! I'm so glad you liked it.

I remember discovering this song in 2006 at the age of 14. It was super impactful for me and I listened to it like several times every day. One year later my uncle was so cool that he took me and my brother to Metallica show (Moscow 2007 was insane with 60 000 people coming after waiting for 16 years) and I didn't even hope to hear it live but they did play it. Easily one of happiest moments of my life, I lost my voice after this song! Good memories🤘🏻
