Having lived in Finland, I am not at all surprised by the complexity of their lyrics as Finns learn to speak English virtually from birth, and many of them speak it far better than most of us. Finns also tend to be deep thinkers. The same applies to Sweden and Norway. Have loved this band for well over ten years.

No, no, using English at this level requires much more. His mother has spoken English to him since he was a baby, and he has also studied English and classical singing at university and has been an exchange student in the US and Ireland. I'm a Finn who learned English at a very young age, did a lot of my studies in English and use English in my work daily, and I'm nowhere close to that level in writing, even though writing is what I do.

Most first time listeners are amazed that they've never heard of Poets before, and are just as shocked that they aren't huge everywhere. I was one of those people 8 years ago! Now I've seen them 28 times live in Europe and they are now coming to USA at ProgPower Festival in Atlanta! Can't wait to see them here in USA! Thank you for this reaction video and I hope you do more of their music! Every album is different yet distinctly Poets of the Fall. I think you will find many tracks to enjoy! Rock On!!

It's an absolutely amazing band. Even their not-close-to-metal songs are absolutely amazing. Lift is a nice one, locking up the sun is amazing, but also look at False Kings, the brilliance of the lyrics are absolutely smashing. About this clip.... There is so much symbolism I don't even know where to begin. Yes, they tell two stories, the song and the clip, but also, not completely. It's absolutely a masterpiece.

I first discovered them back in 2012 (I think) from playing Alan Wake. They are the "Old Gods of Asgard" in the game and once I heard that voice I had to find out who they. Found a few great things from that soundtrack, but these were the best by far! I was always waiting for them to "get big" on a global scale...but never really happened. Still never hear of them until I go looking. Someday someone will be like "have you heard of Poets of the Fall?" and then I'll know they're where they should be (in people's ears)

I hope you've been able to explore some more PotF by now. I totally get your reaction. Mine was much the same when, 4-5 years ago my daughter said she'd found a new band she thought I'd love. By the 3rd song I was entirely hooked and haven't looked back. My personal favorite albums are Temple of Thought, Twilight Theater and Jealous Gods. As was previously mentioned though, each album is different, yet still Poets. I just loved finding what I consider true musicians that wrote real music and lyrics that actually meant something again. Cheers!

What an awesome reaction video on my favorite song of my all time favorite band Poets of the Fall. You nailed it man. After your every comment I was like: "Yes! Spot on!" POTF have really meaningful lyrics for every single song they have. Trying to decipher them could take days and even weeks, and still you would come up only one interpretation. But their words hit the strings of your heart all the time. They have plenty of really awesome songs, but I almost sure you will like "Lift" and "King of fools"

I’m in so in love with this band and this song is a masterpiece. I’ve always thought this song was a metaphor to the capitalist system. The saviour is money and that the blame part comes from acknowledging the consequences that come with it, the people that suffer from this system. The game avoiding failure is obviously what fuels the system, the reason why people turn a blind eye to the destruction that comes with capitalism. Then, “Enough is not the same it was before” alludes to mass consumption. Anyway, I loved his reaction! You should listen to “given and denied”, “illusion and dream” and “where do we draw the line”. They’re beautiful songs!

Marko Saaresto's command of English is incredible compared to most Finnish speakers and many native English speakers. I heard he started his study and practice of it earlier than most Finns do when his parents worked in the UK for a couple years, but I might be wrong about that. Some of my favorite PotF songs you might consider reacting to include: Sleep Delicious Sorry Go 'Round Revolution Roulette Given and Denied Dreaming Wide Awake Smoke and Mirrors Temple of Thought Brighter than the Sun Once Upon a Playground Rainy The Labyrinth My Dark Disquiet The Sweet Escape It's a bit longer of a list than I might normally write down in one comment, but I'm afraid I don't really have a good feel yet for what kind of music you're most likely to enjoy.

Right. I too get the idea, that this song is actually telling the girl in the gas mask to wake up, she is mesmerized (why there are these spirals in her lollypop, in the ball throwing tent (which she breaks) and the rollercoaster which is then reflected on the mask lenses.. there are break free texts asking her to wake, the sky is burning and she is asked to feed the rain, to make the world live again, stop believing illusions and entertainment, not walk away, but realize... and she stops at the gate and looks back... she might be realizing the carnival of rust/lust is a distraction.
