Messy Mud Baths with rhinos, Peter and Bula 🦏

Before HERD elephant orphanage was established, Adine led the rhino rehabilitation programme at HESC (Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre), also in Hoedspruit in South Africa. She played a crucial role in the rhino orphans' recovery and rehabilitation journey. Adine recently assisted with the newest orphans at the centre, Peter and Bula, as we have shared before. In this new video, we share some of these moments with you.
After being rescued when his mother was tragically killed by an elephant, Peter found comfort in his new home at HESC. Watch as Adine brings him mud for a special rhino spa day, providing sun protection and a cooling refresher. Peter is more accustomed to his surroundings now and enjoys playful interactions with his carers and sheep, with the occasional bout of zoomies. Meanwhile, Bula, who was orphaned after his mother passed from old age, enjoys an afternoon cool-down with his carers.

Adin you’re doing a grand job, I love you for it thank you and your team.
I am fascinated and charmed by these young rhinos....they have so much personality and seem to genuinely enjoy human contact. I would love to give one of them a mud bath! Adine is an expert spa attendant...Look at her down in the dirt 🥰

I've seen a few of these animals up close .... Goood, what an experience. They are both ferocious but also extremely gentle. I was tossed around by an Asian elephant bathing in the river just for the fun of it. But when this gentle giant realised it was a bit too much for me, she literally picked me up with her trunk and put me on dry land, coming to check on me with gentle trunk movements at several occasions. This I will never never never ever forget. Thank you HERD for doing this. Top notch!!!
Oh my goodness... My heart is so full of love for cats and elephants and now I have to fit in little rhinos also... we're were talking hearts the size of small planets here!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Just watched Peter moving to his new boma over at HESC, and now, his spa day with Adine, what fun! So used to seeing Adine with the elephants, this is special seeing her with the baby rhinos. Love watching Peter's zoomies, even more heartwarming watching him and Adine play. Relaxing end, watching Bula enjoy his water hole wallow ❤🦏❤

It's amazing that people are safe with him, he is big enough to have tremendous force already and it showed when he ran and bucked energetically he could easily hurt but does not, that means he really trust these people.

Peter is funny doing his zoomies at first he was a little bit reluctant to the Spa Day and the mud Then after realizing how nice it feels on his skin he wanted some more As of Bula he has made progress since the first videos we have seen from him He has grown a lot and seems very familiar with Adine and Nadine It's really incredible to see these animals straight out of prehistory behave like real babies rambunctious and cuddly at the same time One more time we must emphasize the important role played by sheep in the education and confort zone of the little orphans Rhinos or Ellies We love you Sheepies ❤🦏🐘🐑❤
